Abstract

To support the smooth operation of activities at the port and jetty, adequate facilities and operational systems are required. Long waiting times can reduce the efficiency of the loading and unloading process and hinder other operational processes. Delays can increase the operational cycle of ships, raise operational costs, and decrease port productivity. This study aims to examine the impact of ship waiting time on the efficiency of the coal discharge and loading process at PT. Adhika Samudera Jaya. Efficiency in the loading and unloading activities is crucial for increasing productivity and reducing operational costs. The research employs a quantitative method, with data collection through direct observation and documentation. The results indicate that the duration of ship waiting time significantly affects the efficiency of the discharge and loading process, where longer waiting times lead to longer loading and unloading durations. Key factors influencing waiting time include equipment readiness, weather conditions, shipping management, and cargo availability. By improving operational planning and speeding up facility readiness, the efficiency of the coal discharge and loading process can be optimized. This finding is expected to serve as a reference for companies and port authorities in improving the quality of coal loading and unloading services.

Abstract

Ini menunjukkan bahwa pendekatan pembelajaran Make A Match mempengaruhi pemahaman konsep matematika siswa SMPN 1 Waigete.

Abstract

Contemporary maritime safety management generally relies on technical approaches, whereas historical analyses can provide a fundamental perspective regarding disaster taxonomy. This research aims to elaborate on the threat weight divergence between human-induced risk variables (Man-Made Risk) and Natural Risk extracted from a corpus of ancient texts, as well as to examine their implications for mapping the ALARP tolerance limits in maritime regulations. This study employs an explanatory quantitative approach integrating computational linguistics with the Formal Safety Assessment (FSA) framework. Ten maritime hazard keywords were converted into absolute numerical units using the Hisab Al-Jummal system of the Masyriqi school, normalized, and calibrated with empirical probabilities to map the Risk Score on a 5×5 matrix. The analysis results prove that Man-Made Risk, specifically the keyword zulm meaning negligence and regulatory violations clearly dominates the hazard hierarchy in the Unacceptable Region with the highest score. Conversely, natural physical threats such as high waves with the keyword mawj have been effectively reduced to acceptable levels due to the standardization of modern ship architecture. The findings indicate prioritize regulatory enforcement that extreme natural conditions essentially act as an initial trigger, while negative human intervention is the primary catalyst for mass maritime tragedies. In conclusion, the results of this study are crucial in encouraging a shift in maritime mitigation strategies so that they do not solely focus on avoiding extreme weather, but rather prioritize regulatory enforcement, regulatory audits, and the strengthening of safety culture.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the Cadet Worksheet (LKT) in helping cadets understand the calculation of the Waterplane (WP) area and Ton per Centimetre Immersion (TPC) using Simpson’s 1/3 rule. The main problem underlying this research is that many cadets still find it difficult to connect integral concepts with numerical data in the context of shipping. The research was conducted at the Surabaya Maritime Polytechnic involving cadets from the DIII Marine Engineering and DIV Ship Machinery Engineering Technology programs as subjects. The method employed was a combination of qualitative and quantitative approaches using instruments such as field notes, a positive opinion questionnaire (KPP), and cognitive ability tests (TKK). Qualitative analysis was carried out through data triangulation, while quantitative analysis used the Wilcoxon test since the data were not normally distributed. The results indicated that the learning process was student-centered, the lecturer implemented the lessons systematically, and cadet activities were relevant to the learning objectives. A total of 100% of cadets gave positive opinions regarding the LKT, and the Wilcoxon test results showed a significant improvement in cognitive ability after the learning process. Thus, it can be concluded that the developed LKT is effective in supporting cadets’ understanding of the application of Simpson’s 1/3 rule in calculating WP and TPC.

Abstract

In Indonesia's shipping sector, ship certificates and documents are essential for verifying a ship's seaworthiness. One of the key certificates is the BKI, which consists of two types: statutory and class certificates. Statutory certificates are further divided into Marpol and Solas certificates. Marpol certificates include international and national types, while Solas certificates focus on ship safety and security. Class certificates cover the ship's hull and machinery. However, challenges often arise during the endorsement of both statutory and class certificates, requiring analysis to identify the factors that hinder the endorsement process and optimize these activities. This research uses a qualitative approach, with data collected from ships experiencing issues during the certificate endorsement period at PT. Logindo Samudramakmur Tbk between 2023 and 2024. The data collection techniques include observation, documentation, and literature review. The findings show that the biggest hindrance is the offshore location, which limits access to the area. Other factors, such as inappropriate findings onboard and bad weather, also contribute to delays. The research recommends optimizing access availability and performing routine ship maintenance to ensure the smooth and optimal operation of certificate endorsement activities.
