Abstract

ABSTRACTResearch onthe dynamics of phytoplankton abundance was conducted in July-August 2019 at Lake Bunter Pangkalan Baru village. A study aims to know the dynamics of phytoplankton abundance either spatiallyand temporally. There were 3 stations namely station 1 (inlet area), station 2 (in the middle of the lake) and station 3 (in the end of the lake). In each stations, there were 2 sampling point, in the surface and 2 Secchi depth. Sampling was done 4 times, once/week. Water quality parameters measured were temperature, pH, transparency, dissolved oxygen, free carbon dioxide, nitrate, phosphate. Result shown that temperature 29-32oC, transparency 81-90 cm, pH 5, DO 3.42-8.22 mg/L, CO2 3.99-15.98 mg/L, nitrate 0.022-0.089 mg/L, phosphate 0.014-0.049 mg/L. Phytoplankton abundance at the surface range 317,746-411,070cell/L, and 2 Secchi depth range 284,416-311,080cell/L. Temporal dynamics of phytoplankton abundance was influenced by timewhile spatial dynamics of phytoplankton abundance based on stations or depth. The dynamics of phytoplankton abundance, either spatially and temporally was influenced by water quality such as transparency, nitrate and phosphate.Keywords:Temporal, Spatial, Water Quality, Depth

Abstract

AbstractPhythoplankton is a parameter used to determine the fertility status of a waters. A research aim to determine types and abundance of phytoplankton in the Pangean Reservoir has been carried out on June-July 2019. There were four sampling sites, namely S1 is in the upstream (a little floating net cage), S2 (lots of floating net cage), S3 (around rubber plantations), S4 (outlet and closest to the DAM). Water sampler were taken once/week for 3 week period. Water quality parameters measured were temperature, brightness, depth, pH, dissolved oxygen, free CO2, nitrate and phosphate.Results shown that there are 48 species of phytoplankton present in the swamp.They were classified into six classes, namely: Cyanophyceae (10 species), Bacillariophyceae (12 species),Euglenophyceae (4 species), Chloropyhceae (18 species), Xanthophyceae (3 species) and Trebouxiophyceae (1 species). The average of phytoplankton abundance was around 560.267 –1.560.785 cells/L. The water quality parameters were as follows : temperatures 29-31 0C, brightness 93-102 cm, depth 248-388 cm ,pH 5, Dissolved Oxygen 5,13-7,17 mg/L, free CO2 19-35 mg/L , nitrate 0,027-0,065 mg/L and phosphate 0,029-0,054 mg/L. Abstract

AbstractPhytoperiphyton is sessile microscopic organisms that attach on the substrates.          A research aims to determine the type and abundance of phytoperiphyton on plastic substrate has been conducted on July-August 2019. There were three sampling stations, namely S1 (inlet area), S2 (middle of the lake), and S3 (the ends of lake). In each station, there were 2 sampling sites, in the surface (20 cm depth) and in the middle of water column (120 cm depth). The number of plastic substrates (8 x 3 cm2) in each station was 24 pieces.Samplingswere conducted once/week for a three weeks period. The phytoperiphytonwas sampledby brushing8 substrates/ sampling. Water quality parameters measured were temperature, transparency, depth, pH, dissolved oxygen, free carbon dioxide, nitrate and phosphate. Results shown that there were 29 types of phytoperiphyton and they were belonged to 4 classes, Bacillariophyceae (14 species), Chlorophyceae (11 species), Cyanophyceae              (3 species) and Chrysophyceae (1 species). The abundance of phytoperiphyton in the plastic substrates placed in the S1 was 42,000 cells/cm2, in S2 was 29,285cells/cm2 and in S3 was34,195cells/cm2. The water quality parameters were as follows: temperature 29-300C, pH 5, transparency 64.1-71 cm, depth 2.46 – 3.33 m, dissolved oxygen 3.67– 4.90 mg/L, free carbon dioxide 3.45-8.11 mg/L, nitrate 0.026-0.047 mg/L and phosphate 0.035-0.058 mg/L.Water quality data indicate that the water of the PutusLakeis suitable to support the life of phytoperiphyton.Keywords :  Oxbow Lake,Sessile Organism,Bacillariophyceae, Chrysophyceae

Abstract

Research aims to determine the type and abundance of phytoperiphyton on plastic substrate has been carried out in June- July 2019 in the Bunter Lake. There were three sampling stations, namely Station 1 (inlet), Station 2 (in the middle of the lake) and Station 3 (in the end of the lake ). The number of substrates in each station were 30 pieces. Sampling were conducted once/week for a 3 weeks period. The phytoperiphyton samples are brushed from the plastic substrate (8x3 cm),  10  plastic substrates/ stations. Water samples were collected from 2 different depth namely in the surface (20 cm) and 2 secchi depth (180 cm). Water quality parameters measured were temperature, transparancy, pH, dissolved oxygen, free carbon dioxide, nitrate and phosphate. Results shown that there were 28 types of phytoperiphyton present and they were belonged to 3 classes, namely  Chlorophyceae (15 species), Bacillariophyceae (10 species), and Cyanophyceae (3 species). The abundance of phytoperiphyton were 8,236- 19,581 cells/cm2. The water quality parameters were as follows: temperature was 29.7-30oC, transparancy was 78.33- 83.67 cm, dissolved oxygen was4.07-6.13 mg/L, pH was 5, free carbon dioxide was 7.32-13.31 mg/L, nitrate was 0.05413-0.10267 mg/L and phosphate was0.02137-0.03983 mg/L. Based on type of phytoperiphyton, trophic state of  Bunter Lake can be categorized as eutrophic.Keywords : Lentic, Sessile Organism, Water Quality, Trophic State,Oxbow Lake

Abstract

AbstractMany activities in the Perupuk Lake contribute the input of organic and anorganic mattet that affects the nutrient concentration and increasing thr growth of phytoplankton. A research about Thophic State of Perupuk Lake by Phytoplankton in Kampung Pinang Village Kampar District Riau Province has been conducted in June-July 2019. The location of the water samples to measure water quality defined 3 stations, namely in the inlet, the curve of the lake, and in the end of the lake. In each station, there were 2 sampling points, namely in the surface (0.15 m) and 2 Secchi depth (0.90 m). Samplings were conducted 3 times at intervals of a week. Water quality parameters measured in this research were temperature, transparency, depth, pH, dissolved oxygen, CO2, nitrate and phosphate. Results shown that there were 38 species of phytoplankton that were belonged to 7 classes, namely Chlorophyceae (16 spesies), Bacillariophyceae (4 spesies), Cyanophyceae (5 spesies), Euglenophyceae (1 spesies), Trebouxiophyceae (4 spesies), Cryptophyceae (1 spesies) dan Zygnematophyceae (7 spesies). The phytoplankton abundance of the Perupuk Lake was 46.481-74.959  cells/L. The most common type of phytoplankton present was Monoraphodium griffithii. Results shown that the temperaturewas 28-30 0C, transparency was 40-54 cm, depth was 1-2 m, pH was 5, dissolved oxygen was 5.02-6.81 mg/L, CO2 was 5.99-15.98 mg/L, nitrate was 0.0125-0.9646 mg/L and phosphate was 0.0553-0.2235mg/L and. Abstract

Abstract Phytoplankton is a primary producer organism in aquatic ecosystem and it supplies oxygen to the waters through photosynthesis process. A research aim to determine types and abundance of phytoplankton in the PTPN V Sei Pagar Reservoir has been carried out on July-August 2019. Sampling taken at three stations, namely station 1 (inlet area), station 2 (central area) and station 3 (outlet area), once/week. The water quality parameters measured were temperature, transparency, depth, pH, DO, free CO2, nitrate (NO3-) and phosphate (PO43-). Result shown there were 48 species phytoplankton that consist of 10 classes, namely Chlorophyceae (14 species), Cyanophyceae (3 species), Euglenophyceae (6 spesoies), Zygnematophyceae (5 species), Trebouxiophyceae (3 species), Dynophyceae (1 species), Cryptophyceae (1 species), Crysophyceae (1 species), Xantophyceae (1 species) and Bacillariophyceae (13 species). The abundance of phytoplankton in PTPN V Sei Pagar Reservoir ranges from 6,660-33,264 cells/L. The water quality parameters were as follows: transparency 47-54 cm, temperatures 27-29 0C, pH 6, DO 4.77-6.92 mg/L, free CO2 6.65-13.98 mg/L, phosphate 0.018-0.038 mg/L, nitrate 0.905-1.23 mg/L. Based on phytoplankton abundance, PTPN V Sei Pagar Reservoir can be categorized as oligotrophic-mesotrophic.

Abstract

ABSTRACT   Nygaard Index can be used to determine the trophic state of waters. Calculation of this index is based on the number of phytoplankton species in these following groups, namely Desmidiaceae, Myxophyceae, Chlorococcales, Centric diatom and Euglenophyceae. To understand the trophic state of the Tanjung Putus lake, a research has been conducted in February - March 2018. There were three sampling stations, namely station 1 (inlet area), station 2 (the middle of the lake) and station 3 (out let area). In each station there were two sampling points, in the surface and 2 secchi depth. Sampling were conducted 3 times, once/week. Water quality parameters measured were phytoplankton (type and abundance), transparency, temperature, pH, nitrate, phosphate, Dissolved oxygen and free carbon dioxide. Results shown that there were 6 groups of phytoplankton present, namely Desmidiaceae (6 species), Myxophyceae (3 species), Chlorococcales (9 species), Centric diatom (5 species), Cryptophyceae (2 species) and Euglenophyceae (2 species). Water quality parameters were as follows: transparency 77.5-102.5 cm, temperature 30-32 0C, pH 5, nitrate 0.04-0.07 mg/L, phosphate 0.03-0.09 mg/L, Dissolved oxygen 4.1-6.5 mg/L, free carbon dioxide 6.6-11.9 mg/L, Nygaard Index value : 2 – 2.6. Abstract

ABSTRACT Periphyton is microorganism that live attached to submerged substrate. In the vicinity of Koto Panjang Dam Site there are fish farming activities in floating net cages, which produce feed residu and metabolic waste. This research aims to determine periphyton community around the Dam Site of the Koto Panjang Reservoir. This research was conducted in December 2020. There were 3 stations, namely station 1 (less KJA), station 2 (moderate KJA), and station 3 (full KJA). The subtrate used is ceramic substrate with a size (8x3 cm2). Substrate was planted 1 week before sampling. Sampling were conducted 3 times at once a week. The periphyton samples were obtained by spraying the surface of ceramic substrate with aquadest using a plastic sprayer. Periphyton were preserved with lugol 1%, then identified and abundance counted. Water quality parameters measured were temperature, transparency, pH, dissolved oxygen, free carbondioxide, nitrate, and phosphate. Results shown that there were 36 types of periphyton, belongs to 7 classes, namely Bacillariophyceae (6 types), Chlorophyceae (17 types), Cyanophyceae (3 types), Trebouxiphyceae (4 types), Zygnematophyceae (4 types), Euglenophyceae (1 type), dan Dinophyceae (1 type). Periphyton abundance during the study ranged from 2.479-10.357 cells/cm2. Two way anova test on the number of species and periphyton abundance around the Dam Site of PLTA Koto Panjang Reservoir showed that the number and abundance of periphyton were not significantly diffrerent between stations and between times. Keywords:Periphyton, PLTA Koto Panjang Reservoir, Ceramic Substrate, Net       Floating Cage, Water Quality

Abstract

AbstractThe tofu industrial waste is rich in organic materials and it may be used as nutrient sources in the Spirulinasp culture. A study aims to understand the effect of  EM4 fermented tofu liquid waste addition in the media toward abundance and biomass of   Spirulinasp has been conducted in February to March 2019. The fermented waste was made by mixing 35 L of tofu waste and 35 mL of EM4 and then the mixture was kept for 14 days. There was a CRD method applied, with 4 treatments and 3 replications. The treatments applied was as follows: (T1). 750 ml LCT of fermented waste + 2250 ml of Borehole Water, (T2) 750 ml LCT of fermented waste + 2250 mL of Spring Water (Ground Water), (T3) 750 ml LCT of fermented waste + 2250 mL of RimboPanjang Peat Water, (T4) 750 ml LCT of fermented waste + 2250 mL of Black Water Peat Water of 1000 ml Spirulina culture was added and it was cultured   for 14 days. By the end of the experiment, the abundance and biomass of Spirulina was calculated. Result shown that the addition of fermented tofu waste positively affect the growth of Spirulina sp. The best result was obtained in T3 (2,386,000) cells/ml and 0.28 gr biomass in the 7thday.Keywords:fermented waste, microalgae culture, microalgae growth,organic waste

Abstract

 ABSTRACTPhytoplankton is primary producer and as well as natural food and has an important role in the water. This research was conducted in December 2020 in Tanjung Kudu Lake and Parit Lake. There were three stations, namely Station 1 (inlet), Station 2 (in the middle of the lake), and Station 3 (end of the lake). Sampling was done 3 times one/week. Water quality parameters measure were temperature, transparency, depth, pH, dissolved oxygen, CO2, nitrate, and phosphate. Result shown there were 26 types of phytoplankton in Tanjung Kudu Lake, and 29 species in Parit Lake. The abundance of phytoplankton in Lake Tanjung Kudu was 18,720-37,700 cells/L, and the abundance of phytoplankton in Lake Parit was 19,760-45,500 cells/L. Water quality parameter such as transparency 48.5-59 cm, temperature 29.3-29.6oC, pH 5.3-5.8, dissolved oxygen 3.42-4.57 mg/L, CO2 11.98-13.98 mg/L, nitrate 0.035-0.038 mg/L and phosphate 0.027-0.048 mg/L in Lake Tanjung Kudu where as in Lake Parit the transparency was 59-65.67 cm, temperature 29.3-9.8oC, pH 5-6, dissolved oxygen 4.19-5.18 mg/L, CO2 10.66-13.32 mg/L, nitrate 0.03-0.04 mg/L and phosphate 0.036-0.039 mg/L.
