Abstract

The Permata Tani Women Farmers Group (KWT) in Rubaru Village, Rubaru Subdistrict, Sumenep Regency, has great potential in processing local varieties of shallots into fried shallots, but faces various obstacles in terms of product quality, production efficiency, and marketing. The main problems include uneven shallot slices, dark colour, oily texture, and unattractive and uninformative packaging. A community service programme (Kosabangsa) using an integrated approach was implemented to improve the capacity of KWT through the application of appropriate technology such as peeling machines, slicers, fryers, and oil strainers, as well as assistance in hygienic production, branding and packaging development, business literacy, simple financial record keeping, and digital and conventional marketing strategies. The results showed a significant increase in production process efficiency (chopping time reduced from 30 minutes to 5 minutes per kilogram and more uniform slices), product quality (drier, crispier, and less oily), and competitiveness through the launch of the local brand ‘Bawang Goreng Krowes’ (Krowes Fried Onions). Additionally, strengthening the group's institutional capacity, developing standard operating procedures (SOP), and establishing strategic partnerships with the village government and universities ensured the sustainability of the business. This programme has successfully transformed KWT Permata Tani from a household business into a professional, sustainable, and competitive micro-agroindustry, while also strengthening the role of women in the local economy. This empowerment model has the potential to be replicated in similar areas.

Abstract

Student’s critical thinking skills in higher education level should be enhanced using diverse methods, one of which by developing learning media as assistance in conceiving the skills. This study was undertaken to determine the validity of the H5P learning media using ALLR (Activity Based-Lesson Learn-Reflection) model that could be embedded in a Moodle-based learning management system for Basic Science course to reinforce the pre-service science teachers’ critical thinking skills. This study used research and development (R&D) design using 4D development model. The developed learning media was an interactive learning media for Basic Science course that contained the ALLR learning model developed using the H5P platform embedded in Moodle-based SIDIA UNESA learning management system. The media was given to three experts whose expertise were science learning and learning media development. The validation was based on assessment criteria which included content, presentation, and language aspects. The results showd that all the assessment criteria for the learning media developed were declared very valid, except for interactivity sub-criteria which was valid. It can be concluded that H5P-based interactive media in LM with ALLR Learning Model is suitable for improving the critical thinking skills of pre-service science teachers in the Basic Science Course.

Abstract

The still-low level of science literacy among students in Indonesia calls for innovation to improve it. One such approach is the use of the Socio-Scientific Issues-based Classroom Discussion learning model, which has the potential to be implemented. This study aims to describe the improvement in students’ science literacy skills after being taught using the Classroom Discussion learning model based on Socio-Scientific Issues. The study employed a pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The subjects of this study were students in class VII-C at SMP Labschool Unesa 3 in Surabaya. The research instruments included an observation sheet for learning implementation, pretest and posttest science literacy questions, and a student response questionnaire. Data analysis techniques used normality tests, hypothesis tests, and N-Gain tests. The results of the normality test indicated that the data were not normally distributed. The results of the hypothesis test using the Wilcoxon test indicated that there was an effect of using the learning model. The results of the N-Gain test showed that 5.3% of students fell into the low category, 89.5% into the moderate category, and 5.3% into the high category. These results were supported by the implementation of the learning process, which achieved an average percentage of 100% per session, categorized as “very good.” Additionally, student responses to the learning process yielded a result of 83.4%, interpreted as “very positive”. It can therefore be concluded that the Classroom Discussion learning model based on socio-scientific issues can improve students’ science literacy. Suggestions for future research include the use of technology-assisted learning, the use of different controversial issues, or other research methods to improve the science literacy of junior high school students.

Abstract

Permasalahan yang sering terjadi pada dunia pendidikan IPA adalah pembelajaran yang masih didominasi oleh teacher-centered learning yang kurang interaktif karena keterbatasan penggunaan teknologi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penerapan model pembelajaran inkuiri terbimbing berbantuan Wizer.me sebagai media pembelajaran multimodal terhadap peningkatan motivasi dan hasil belajar peserta didik pada materi unsur, senyawa, dan campuran. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode pre-experimental research dengan desain one-group pretest and posttest. Purposive sampling digunakan sebagai teknik pengambilan sampel dan diperoleh peserta didik kelas VIII-A sebanyak 30 orang sebagai kelas eksperimen. Data dianalisis menggunakan statistik deskriptif dan uji parametrik. Uji hipotesis menggunakan uji N-Gain dan uji t berpasangan karena data terdistribusi normal. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan nilai N-Gain hasil belajar sebesar 0,69 dalam kategori sedang. Angket motivasi berdasarkan model ARCS menunjukkan peningkatan positif dengan rentang skor motivasi akhir 84%–86% dalam kategori sangat baik. Uji t berpasangan menunjukkan t hitung hasil belajar (15,321) dan motivasi belajar (12,105) keduanya lebih besar dari t tabel (1,699), yang menunjukkan adanya perbedaan signifikan. Uji korelasi Pearson Product-Moment menunjukkan hubungan positif antara motivasi dan hasil belajar (r = 0,492) dalam kategori sedang. Disimpulkan bahwa model inkuiri terbimbing berbantuan Wizer.me terbukti efektif meningkatkan motivasi dan hasil belajar peserta didik serta mendorong keterlibatan aktif dan kemampuan berpikir ilmiah.

Abstract

This article aims to examine the concept of humanizing education and understand its application in the learning process based on a review of relevant literature. This research uses a literature study method with a narrative literature review approach. Data sources were obtained from scientific journal articles, books, and academic publications related to humanistic education and critical pedagogy published in 2020–2026. Data collection techniques were carried out through literature searches and selection, while data analysis was carried out descriptively by identifying themes, comparing research results, and conducting synthesis. The results of the study indicate that humanizing education encompasses three main themes: education as a process of humanizing humans, the application of humanistic theory in learning, and critical pedagogy. The synthesis shows that humanistic education positions students as active subjects, encourages critical thinking, and develops potential comprehensively.
