Abstract

The objective of this study was to examine the effect of storage time and egg weight at room temperature on the interior quality of Magelang duck. The material used were 120 eggs of Magelang duck. The parameters observed were albumen index, egg yolk index and Haugh unit. The 4 x 3 factorial experiment with 2 factors was applied. In which the first factor (A) was the length of egg storage of: a1 = 1 day, a2 = 3 days, a3 = 5 days and a4 = 7 days and the second factor (B) was egg weight of b1 (low = 48,4g – 63,1g)  b2 (medium = 63,2g – 73,6g) and b3 (high 73,7g - 81g,). The data were analyzed by the General Linear Model (GLM) procedure of Statistical Analysis System (SAS). The result showed that there was no interaction between storage time and egg weight on quality interior. Storage time was significant different (P<0,05) on albumin index, egg yolk index and Haugh unit. Egg weight had no effect on index albumen, egg yolk index and Haugh unit.  In conclusion, the quality of the interior began to decline after being saved 3 days and the optimal egg weight for hatching eggs is medium egg weight.

Abstract

Penelitian bertujuan untuk menganalisis kualitas semen dari bentuk skrotum yang berbeda pada kambing Kejobong. Penelitian menggunakan 30 ekor kambing Kejobong  sebagai sample. Populasi sasaran yang dituju adalah kambing Kejobong yang berada di Kecamatan Kejobong, Kabupaten Purbalingga, Jawa Tengah. Sampel ditentukan berdasarkan purposive sampling. Pengamatan pertama dengan melihat perbedaan bentuk skrotum yaitu no bipartition (NB) dan bipartition up to 50% (B<50). Pengukuran skrotum meliputi panjang, lebar, dan lingkar. Kemudian dilakukan pengamatan terhadap kualitas semen yang meliputi uji makrospis dan uji mikroskopis. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis dengan independent t-test. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ukuran skrotum pada kedua bentuk bipartisi berbeda nyata (P<0,05). Uji makrokopis semen kambing Kejobong berbeda nyata (P<0,05), sedangkan uji mikrokopis semen pada pengamatan abnormalitas, gerak individu, dan konsentrasi tidak berbeda nyata, hanya pada  pengamatan volume, pH, hidup dan mati yang berbeda nyata (P<0,05).Disimpulkan bahwa bentuk bipartisi skrotum yang berbeda mempengaruhi ukuran skrotum dan kualitas semen kambing.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh bobot telur terhadap daya tetas dan bobot tetas itik Magelang generasi ke-4. Penelitian dilaksanakan di Balai Pembibitan dan Budidaya Ternak Non Ruminasia (BPBTNR) Satuan Kerja Itik Banyubiru Ambarawa. Materi yang digunakan adalah 253 butir telur yang diperoleh dari 48 ekor itik Magelang generasi ke-4 (G4) yang terdiri dari 40 ekor itik betina dan 8 ekor itik jantan dengan mating ratio 1 : 5 dalam 4 pen. Bobot telur terdiri dari 6 kelompok yaitu jumbo, extra large, large, medium, small dan peewee sebagai perlakuan. Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) 6 perlakuan dengan 4 ulangan digunakan dalam penelitian ini. Data bobot telur, daya tetas dan bobot tetas yang diperoleh dianalisis dengan program General Linear Model (GLM) menggunakan SAS. Parameter yang diamati adalah persentase daya tetas dan bobot tetas. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perbedaan bobot telur berpengaruh tidak nyata terhadap daya tetas, tetapi berpengaruh nyata (P<0,05) terhadap bobot tetas. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah bobot telur yang berat menghasilkan bobot tetas yang berat pula.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of binahong leaves extract (BLE) on Cavia cobaya through the number of erythrocytes, hemoglobin, pack cell volume (PCV) and erythrocyte indices. Complete Random Design (CRD) was used in this study with 4 treatment and 4 replicate, those were T0 (control), T1 (10 mg / head / body weight), T2 (50 mg / head / body weight) and T3 (90 mg / head / weight). The administration of BLE was orally for 10 days pre partum and 10 days postpartum. Blood sampling was done three times, which wasbefore giving BLE , 1 day postpartum and 1 day after the giving of BLE. Data was analyzed using ANOVA and if there was effect of treatment, then continued with Duncan multiple range test. There was not significantly different among treatments for PCV before giving BLE, while the postpartum and post giving BLE showed significantly different (P<0.05). There was not significantl different in the percentage of Hb among treatments for postpartum while in before giving BLE and post giving BLE were showed significantly different (P<0.05). Total erythrocytes was not significantly difference among treatments for before giving BLE while in the postpartum and post giving BLE significantly different (P <0.05). MCHC value was not significantly different between treatments which was before giving BLE and post giving BLE while in the postpartum was showedsignificantly different (P<0.05). MCV and MCH values were not significantly different between treatments before giving BLE while in the postpartum and post giving BLE significantly different (P <0.05). In conclusion, giving BLE at a dose of 50 mg/head/body weight can improve immunity and endurance Cavia cobaya on the treatment group before giving BLE, postpartum and post giving BLE of PCV, Hb, total erythrocytes, MCHC, MCV and MCH.
