Abstract

The palm oil industry plays a strategic role in Indonesia's economic landscape. As one of the world’s largest producers, Indonesia holds substantial potential in marketing both crude palm oil (CPO) and palm kernel oil on domestic and international fronts. Palm oil prices consistently correlate with CPO prices, given that the pricing of palm oil is benchmarked against CPO, resulting in market fluctuations. Forecasting future palm oil prices becomes an essential measure in response to this volatility. The ARIMA (AutoRegressive Integrated Moving Average) model has been widely recognized as a reliable method for time series forecasting. Despite its strengths, ARIMA faces challenges in identifying the non-linear components that are often present in real-world data. The Gated Recurrent Unit (GRU) model, which incorporates an update gate and a reset gate, offers an alternative that effectively captures complex non-linear patterns. A hybrid model integrating ARIMA and GRU has therefore been developed with the aim of improving predictive accuracy. This hybrid approach includes two stages: the ARIMA model for initial predictions and a GRU model that processes the residuals from the ARIMA output. In this study, the ARIMA-GRU hybrid model demonstrated strong performance, yielding a Mean Squared Error (MSE) of 868.4690, a Root Mean Squared Error (RMSE) of 29.4698, a Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE) of 0.0117, and an overall accuracy of 99.9824%.

Abstract

Economic forecasting serves as a fundamental element in supporting decision-making processes across multiple sectors. One of the main areas of interest in this field is the estimation of the money supply within an economy. The Vector Autoregressive (VAR) model is a commonly applied method for forecasting; however, it often encounters limitations when processing data with nonlinear patterns. Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) offer an alternative approach, particularly effective in identifying nonlinear structures that are not adequately captured by VAR models. A hybrid VAR-CNN model is therefore proposed, combining the respective strengths of both techniques to improve the accuracy of predictions. This research applies to the hybrid VAR-CNN model to forecast economic variables for the period from July 2022 to June 2023. The model consists of two main components: the first utilizes forecasted values generated by the VAR model, while the second processes the residuals from the VAR output using a CNN. With 80% of the data allocated for training and 20% for testing, the hybrid VAR-CNN model demonstrates improved performance over alternative forecasting methods. Evaluation based on Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE), supremum (D) values, and p-values confirms the effectiveness of this hybrid approach.

Abstract

Not all entrepreneurs demonstrate the same kind of behaviors. An‘opportunity’ entrepreneur starts a new business by exploiting anidentifiable business opportunity and is expected to help develop theeconomy. On the other hand, a ‘necessity’ entrepreneur does so in order tosurvive over poverty and/or unemployment, and thus can hardlycontribute much to the economic development. This paper to describesthis types of entrepreneur.

Abstract

The growing demand for digital healthcare services in Indonesia has driven the adoption of Online Healthcare Applications (OHApps) such as Halodoc. Despite over 65 million users, maintaining user satisfaction remains a challenge. This study employs sentiment analysis using a hybrid Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) and Bidirectional Long Short-Term Memory (BiLSTM) model to classify user review ratings. A dataset of 10,000 Google Play Store reviews was divided into COVID-19 and post-pandemic segments. The methodology includes data collection, pre-processing, and dataset segmentation for training, validation, and testing. Results indicate that the CNN-BiLSTM model surpasses traditional machine learning by combining CNN’s feature extraction with BiLSTM’s long-term dependency capture, achieving 98.71% accuracy on COVID-19 data and 98.16% post-pandemic. Additionally, the model demonstrates strong performance across other key evaluation metrics, with precision, recall, and F1-score. Misclassification analysis highlights minor errors, particularly in ratings 4 and 5. These findings help healthcare providers enhance digital services by identifying user concerns, improving platform features, and optimizing customer engagement. Beyond healthcare, this approach has real-world applications in e-commerce and financial services, where sentiment analysis informs user experience improvements.

Abstract

Adolescence is an important period in forming behavior related to health and nutrition. Decreased physical activity, eating disorders, consuming fast food from outside the home, and poor diversity of food consumption contribute to three nutritional problems (Triple Burden of Malnutrition). Poor eating habits and not having a balanced nutritional pattern will negatively impact teenagers' health and nutrition. The aim of this service is to increase teenagers' knowledge and skills about balanced nutrition through the contents of my plate and direct practice through menu competitions. The method used in this service activity goes through three stages, namely 1) Planning and preparation, 2) Education and socialization, 3) Demonstration and menu competition. This activity involved all 429 students of SLTA N 3 Luwuk. During educational and socialization activities, the material was presented about the Triple Burden of Malnutrition, balanced nutrition, and what's on my plate. The menu competition activity was attended by representatives of each class who served various dishes with a balanced and varied nutritional menu. Socialization activities and menu competitions should be carried out effectively to increase knowledge and develop character in teenagers regarding the importance of a healthy lifestyle with balanced nutrition to prevent the occurrence of the Triple Barden of Malnutrition.

Abstract

This study explores the forecasting of Indonesia’s oil, non-oil, and gas export values, highlighting its critical role in supporting national economic growth. Given the inherent volatility in export values, accurate forecasting is vital for informed economic decision-making. The research employs Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) and Gated Recurrent Unit (GRU) models, both well-regarded for their ability to handle sequential data and complex temporal patterns. Model performance was evaluated using Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) and Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE). The findings indicate that although both models produced nearly identical MAPE values of 99.99% across the oil, non-oil, and gas sectors, the GRU model outperformed the LSTM model with RMSE values of 0.0655 for oil and gas exports and 0.0697 for non-oil and gas exports. Moreover, the GRU model’s forecasts align closely with data from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), which reported an 11.33% decline in Indonesia’s export values by the end of 2023. These results suggest that the GRU model not only offers greater accuracy but is also applicable to other economic forecasting contexts, such as exchange rate and inflation predictions, thereby enhancing economic policy-making.

Abstract

Background: According to the National Basic Health Research of Indonesia (Riskesdas) in 2018, the prevalence of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in Central Sulawesi Province surpassed the national rate. This province is also home to 31.3% of active smokers. The main risk factor for NCDs is an unhealthy lifestyle such as physical inactivity, smoking, alcohol consumption, and unhealthy diet pattern. Objectives: This study aims to investigate diet patterns and nutritional status of adults in Central Sulawesi based on their smoking status. Methods: This is a cross-sectional study using data from Riskesdas 2018. Smoking status, diet pattern and nutritional status were the variables assessed from 12,211 respondents. The statistical analyses used in this study were chi-square test and Generalized Linear Model (GLM). Results: Thirty-six-point two per cent of the respondents were active smokers. The prevalence of overweight (BMI ≥25 kg/m2) and central obesity in smokers were significantly lower than that in the non-smoker group (p<0.05). The smoker group consumed sweetened drinks at least once a week, which increased the prevalence ratio as the weekly consumption frequency increased (PR=1.17 to 1.49; p<0.05). They also had a lower prevalence ratio of consumption a maximum of 3-4 portions/day of vegetable and consuming salty food (high sodium) 1-2 times a week. Conclusions: Although the prevalence ratio of overweight and central obesity are lower in smokers, they have unhealthy diet patterns, which are shown in lower consumption of vegetables and high in salty food. In the future, an advanced longitudinal study with representative number of respondents is needed to explore the causality of these variables.
