Abstract

ABSTRACT Chemistry is a part of Natural Sciences, which include understanding the concept and chemical calculation. Two concepts that should be owned by the students in understanding the chemistry to make students easy to master chemistryThe purpose of this study was to determine the student’s mathematic skills of students MIPA 11 grade MAN 1 Pontianak and to determine student’s learning outcomes in terms of mathematic skills in thermochemistry subject. The research method was descriptive. Data were collected using interview techniques and measuring. The analysis showed that average student’s mathematic skill was 82.86 whitch measured at 9 mathematical skills indicators contained in thermochemistry subject. Average student’s learning outcomes in thermochemistry subject was 44.08. Analysis of student’s answer sheets showed that students already had excellent mathematical skills was 71.43%. The data showed that the student who had difficulties in learning thermochemistry, students had lowunderstanding on chemistry concepts. The students obtained low learning outcomes in thermochemistry due to their concept. Keywords: Learning Outcomes, Mathematical Ability, Thermochemistry

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe students practicial work in Madrasah Aliyah Al Jihad does not have laboratories facilities and infrastructures still minimal. It be over come by using simple tools and simple materials within students evironment and ussually encontered in everyday. In this research the result of the study before and after implementation practicial work based learning will be analyzing. This reasearch was conducted on to students by using pre- experimental research and one group pretest-posttest design. The subject in this research were students of class X Madrasah Aliyah Al Jihad. This research was condacted three phases: Preparation imlementation and data analysis, the data were collected by using the test (Pretest and Posttest) observation, and interviews. The everage value pretest is 38.00 and 74,00 for posttest. The data pretest and postest were analyzed by using T test which assuming variance test was not homogeneous. T test result by using pretest and posttest is different in significant. The imlpementation method lab-based enveronment can be improve  student`s learning outcome. The students participate actively in teaching learning process.Keywords: Learning outcome, Lab-based environment method

Abstract

The students problem in understanding the electron configurations was caused by the ineffective learning media which is used by the teacher didn’t fit the student’s characteristic. Therefore, it is important to develop media of Lego Chemistry games for electron configurations class. The validation of the media is validated in three aspects. They were validity from the results of the game, practicality from the results of the questionnaire, and the effectiveness from the results of the pre and post tests. This study used a Research and Development (R & D) model of Borg and Gall conducted in seven stages. The study showed that media of Lego Chemistry games was suitable for teaching learning process. It can be seen from the results of the material and media aspects by 0,83 and 0,94 which was valid. The results of the practicality of the questionnaires on the small and main tryouts were 92,50% and 90,66% and were considered practical. The results of the effectiveness of the N Gain on the small and main tryouts were 0.74 and 0.92 (high). Therefore, media of Lego Chemistry games was valid and effective. It is suitable to be used as the learning media in Chemistry class.

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe learning process centered on teachers thus leading students cannot think by themselves and build own knowledge so that students easily forget any lesson taught that resulted in poor study results. The learning process and environment which involves students participate actively is required. Therefore, this study examined the differences in the results of learning and memory of students taught with and without media concept maps in cooperative learning model NHT on the material salt hydrolysis. This study included a quasi-experimental design with Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The population in the study were all students of Mathematics XI consist of four classes with the number of students to 160 people. Samples were taken using purposive sampling with class XI MIPA1 as an experimental class and class XI MIPA2 as controls. Collecting data using measurement techniques, direct observation, and direct communication, while the data collection tool is a test description, the observation sheet and interview guidelines. Based on test data analysis using non-parametric Mann-Whitney U showed there were differences in the results of student learning and memory. Effect size obtained for the results of student learning and memory was 0.44 and 0.85 including in the criteria for medium and high, which affact to 17.00% towards learning outcomes of students and 30.23% of the students' memory.Keywords: memory, learning outcomes, salt hydrolysis, media concept maps, cooperative learning model NHT

Abstract

This study was based on the observation results of students at Universitas Muhammadiyah Pontianak which showed that there was still lack of students’ metacognitive awareness. As a result, this study was intended to investigate the metacognitive awareness of students and its correlation to students’ learning outcomes on metabolism subject especially to chemical education students at Universitas Muhammadiyah Pontianak. The research method of this study was correlational descriptive method. Techniques of data collecting were direct communication and documentation. The subject of this study consisted of 15 students of chemistry students at Universitas Muhammadiyah Pontianak. The researcher modified metacognitive questionnaire developed by Schraw & Dennison (1994) as research instrument with observational sheet. This research was initiated by administering interview, distributing questionnaire and analyzing data. The research findings revealed students’ metacognitive awareness based on the observed indicators namely declarative knowledge 83,33%, conditional knowledge 72%, planning 50,67%, information management strategy 73.33%, understanding monitoring 72,38%, debugging strategy 81,33%, and learning evaluation 73,33%. The correlation between metacognitive awareness and students’ learning outcomes on metabolism subject at Chemical education Study Program Universitas Muhammadiyah Pontianak was interpreted as low as its correlation score was 0,128 due to lack of metacognitive awareness influenced students’ learning outcomes.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the absence of the practicum activities, especially the acid-base indicator learning media, in several schools such as SMA Adisucipto Sungai Raya, SMAN 2 Sungai Raya and MAS Al Mustaqim. This problem is caused by the limited school facilities. For this reason, learning media is required to facilitate the practicum class. This study aimed to determine the validity and practicality of Bioselulose-based natural acid base media. This study used an ADDIE model of four stages ; Analysis, Design, Develop, and Implementation. As many as ten Chemistry teachers from Senior High Schools in Kecamatan Sungai Raya participated in this study. The sample was selected by using purposive sampling technique, and the schools were chosen based on the availability of the material, accessibility of the location, and the school accreditation. Data collection techniques and tools used indirect communication, questionnaires and validation sheets. The results of the validity analysis showed that an average of 0.92 with a very valid category, which meanth that the media was suitable to be used in the learning process. The results of the practicality showed an average of 95 with a very practical category. Therefore, the Biocelullose-based natural acid base media was valid, practical, and suitable for the practicum class in schools.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Learning chemistry is a combination of theories with calculation that require good mathematical abillity in solving problems. This research was investigate and examined the student’s mathematic skill and correlation of the results class X MIPA SMA Negeri 4 Pontianak. This research was a correlation study. The selected samples consisted of 69 students in the class X MIPA 3 and MIPA 4 used Random Sampling technique. The data ware obtained using mathematical skill tests, documentation of the value of the results of class X student second semester of 2015/2016 and interview. This research was indicates that students with high math skills, students achievment chemical is no longer influenced by mathematical abilities. Data were analyzed with a nonparametric test (Spearman Rank test) showed there is no significant correlation between the skill of mathematics to chemistry student learning achievment at 0.236 and correlation coefficient of 0.145 including very low category. The skill of Mathematics class X SMAN 4 Pontianak totaling 69 students were good to excellent category the percentage of students 53.6%, 40.5% good category, the category was sufficient 4.5%, 1.4% less category.Keywords: Corellation, Mathmatics skill, Student’s learning achievement chemistry

Abstract

A practical guide is an important role in conducting an effective practicum class. It helps students to take part in the activities in accordance with the learning goals. Therefore, this study aimed to develop a practical guide of electrolyte and nonelectrolyte solutions for students of SMA Negeri 1 Rasau Jaya. Using an R & D model of Borg and Gall, seven out of eleven stages of material design were employed. The stages used in this study were research and data collection, planning, draft development, initial product trial, initial product revision, main field trial, and revision of operational products. The data collection technique used were observation, questionnaire, and measurement. The instruments were observation and questionnaire sheet, and posttest question. The study revealed that the practically gathered from the teacher questionnaire was 91,0% and from the student’s response was 83,1%. The effectiveness of the practical guide was 91,8%. Hence, the practical guide of electrolyte and nonelectrolyte solutions for students of SMA Negeri 1 Rasau Jaya is effective and valid. Therefore, it can be concluded that a practical guide is highly recommended to be used in the practicum class.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Chemistry is characterized by abstract concepts and theories which is rather difficult and requires formal thinking skill. This research was aimed to describe student’s formal thinking skill, student’s learning achievement, and the correlation between of them. Students of XI IPA were used as population of this research, while 29 students from XI IPA 1 were chosen as samples. The sampling used purposive sampling technichuques. Student’s formal thinking skill data were collected using Test of Logical Thinking (Tobin and Capie, 1981). The results showed that 72,41% students were in formal thinking stage, while 24,14%, and 3,45% students were in transitional stage and concrete stage, respectively. Student’s learning achievement data were analyzed from student’s semester test and it was found that student average score was 70,86. Correlation between student’s formal thinking and student’s learning achievment was analyzed using pearson product moment. It was concluded that ‘formal thinking ability’ affected student achievement by 0,527 in coefficient correlation, and 0,2774 in coefficient determination.Keywords: learning results, formal thinking skill, chemistry learning, Test of Logical Thinking

Abstract

Kebutuhan biomaterial dalam bidang medis untuk berbagai keperluan di Indonesia, khususnya Kalimantan Barat terus meningkat. Hal ini disebabkan oleh meningkatnya berbagai kasus kecelakaan yang memerlukan adanya graft tulang. Semakin tingginya permintaan akan graft tulang tidak diimbangi dengan banyaknya material graft tulang sehingga harga graft tulang relatif mahal. Material yang digunakan dalam graft tulang umumnya adalah hidroksiapatit (HAp). HAp berpori diterapkan sebagai  pengganti tulang buatan dengan tujuan memperbaiki dan meregenerasi tulang. Pada penelitian ini, kami mensintesis HAp dari kerang ale-ale yang merupakan hewan endemik Kalimantan Barat dengan metode surfaktan-hidrotermal. Surfaktan yang digunakan adalah surfaktan kationik, yaitu cetil trimethil ammonium bromida (CTAB). Penambahan CTAB mengakibatkan pori HAp yang terbentuk lebih seragam. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa HAp telah berhasil disintesis yang ditunjukkan dari uji positif terhadap ion fosfat. Hasil karakterisasi menggunakan XRD menunjukkan bahwa terbentuk fase apatite yang dicirikan dari terbentuknya puncak difraksi pada 2θ (30-35º) dengan derajat kristalinitas 85.34% dan parameter kisi a= 2.814 Å, b=2.720 Å dan c= 2.778 Å. Kata kunci: cetil trimetil ammonium bromida, graft tulang, hidroksiapatit, hidrotermal.
