Abstract

Western unceasing production of the film with the character of the East that bad in it. To maintain the Orientalism of the West, adapt them to the times. Media of mass used is the mass media movie. Because of the film's West could easily represent Orientalism. The movie is popular and in demand, and can be watched by all ages. One Western movie that shows the representation of Orientalism is the movie The Man Who Knew Infinity. MovieThe Man Who Knew Infinity tells of the struggle of one of the Eastern scholars in the field of mathematics named Srinivasa Ramanujan. The movie represents the power and difference in social status between the West and the East. As well as how the Western view of the East or Orientalism.And to know the description or representation intentionally created by the movie, then the unambiguous approach to the Semiotic, to use Roland Barthes's model. So, this research want to find out how the meaning of denotation, connotation, and myth preformance of orientalism in the movie The Man Who Knew Infinity. Through the observation carefully and in collaboration with relevant documents, finally found the scene-the scene that can represent the orientalism in the film The Man Who Knew Infinity.The results showed that the representation of Orientalism that aredisplayed in the film this is a form of power of the West against the East. And the difference stastus social as well as position that are shown between the East and the West. Film director Matt Brown, accentuate how the West perceives the East. Although in the field of education of the East and the West have equality. But in class social status and position. The west and the East is not equal in the perspective of Orientalism.

Abstract

The tradition among all is a Javanese tradition carried out to commemorate the birthday of someone in the Javanese calendar. One of the Javanese who still carries out the traditions among the Javanese is in Magelang Village, Kerkap District, North Bengkulu Regency. This study aims to examine the value of harmony and family values ​​of ethnic Javanese in the tradition of among those in the village of Magelang. The method of this research is qualitative research using Roland Barthes's semiotic analysis. Determination of informants in this study was purposive sampling and data collection using observation, in-depth interviews and documentation. Based on the results of the study, it can be seen that Charcoal (symbolizing the furnace in the kitchen), money (all human needs purchased with money), rice (indicating cooked food), banana leaves (as a base for eating), red porridge (symbolizing maternal blood), porridge white (symbolizing father's sperm cells), fern leaves (as traditional medicine), dadap leaves (as traditional medicine when children are sick), eggs (as the center in ngepong emong), and urap (symbolizing ancient simplicity), while developing myths about the tradition of among the people is that this tradition is carried out to ask for the safety of the child to avoid being disturbed by supernatural beings. The value of harmony and family values ​​of Javanese ethnic in Magelang Village are maintained and intertwined with the implementation of these traditions. The community still adheres to the philosophy "manganese manganese is important to collect" to become their foundation in maintaining harmony and kinship between them.

Abstract

TVRI Bengkulu Public Broadcasting Institution (LPP) which is supposed to be responsible for the welfare of its workers, especially freelancers, is more concerned with the workload of its workers because a person's workload must be appropriate and balanced against the physical and psychological abilities of workers. This study aims to determine the commoditization of workers carried out on TVRI Bengkulu television station. This research method uses qualitative research methods which are presented descriptively. Informants in this study used purposive sampling, namely Kasubsi TVRI Bengkulu Program, Journalists, News Administration, News Broadcasters, and employees who had worked at TVRI Bengkulu from various fields such as Journalists, Production Engineering, and Program Staff. Methods of collecting data using observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Data analysis techniques use the method of constant cooperative technique. Based on the results of the study, it can be seen that the occurrence of Commoditization of Workers in the TVRI Bengkulu Public Broadcasting Institution is true, this is indicated by the existence of work inequality ranging from additional work to the salary system obtained. When referring to the theory put forward by Vincent Mosco the media make optimal use of energy and mind by forcing them to do more than one job as a form of employee loyalty to the media industry.

Abstract

This study aims to examine how private information is disclosed and withheld in the chat feature of Tantan application, especially based on the Gendered-Criteria factor. The theory used in this research is Communication Management Privacy Theory - Sandra Petronio. This is a descriptive qualitative research. Data were collected through interviews with four informants, consisting of two women and two men who are in the young adulthood age category.The results of the study found that Tantan application users have good privacy management because they carry out privacy management by enforcing strict rules in choosing co-owners for their privacy. Some of the strict rules are: not telling privacy (information about family) to friends found on the Tantan application and only telling it to people who are truly trusted. In relation to the Rule-based Management System based on gender criteria, men are more trusted in maintaining privacy secrets, but there is no difference in privacy disclosure between women and men.

Abstract

Transparency is one of the important principles that must be implemented by government administrators. The principle of transparency can be realized through the dissemination of information to the public, as carried out by the Media Center of the Department of Communication, Information, and State Encryption, Bengkulu City Government. This study aims to explain the function Media Center through the website https://mediacenter.benngkulukota.go.id in disseminating information to the public based on Law No. 14 of 2008. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach, by interviewing three informants. The results show that the media center has carried out the information dissemination function well, which can be seen from the quality of news writing that meets the rules of journalistic writing and updates news every day.This function can be realized properly because of the competent human resources involved in the team and the support of supporting infrastructure in the process of reporting information, documentation, and managing information and documentation.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to find out about crisis communication in the news of covid-19 on social media Facebook in the Kunduran village community, Seluma Timur. . In this study, the authors used qualitative research. Bogdan and Taylor define qualitative research methods as research procedures that produce descriptive data in the form of written or spoken words from people and observable behavior. The people of Kunduran Village have the view that the news of covid-19 on social media facebook circulating is mostly news made up by certain people so that the truth cannot be accounted for. Therefore, people who use social media Facebook as a means to find information about COVID-19 must choose and sort out the correct news from trusted sources, such as on the Indonesian Ministry of Health's Facebook page.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the virtual purchase motivation of Higgs Domino game players among millennials in Bengkulu City. The researcher also used the concept of Hedonism Motivation Theory according to Gultekin and Ozer (in Utami, 2017) which has 6 elements, namely Adventure Shopping, Gratification or relaxation shopping, Value Shopping, Social Shopping, Idea shopping and Role shopping. The data were collected through interviews, observations, and literature studies. The informants in this study amounted to six millennials in Bengkulu City. The results of this study indicate that there is a hedonistic motivation that encourages millennials to make virtual purchases on the Higgs Domino game. Adventure Shopping in this study is the informant will feel an adventure that can arouse enthusiasm when buying chips. Gratification or relaxation shopping in this study is informants can forget their problems and fatigue. Value Shopping in this study is informants are more interested in buying if the seller offers a discounted price. Social Shopping in this study is informants feel happy when buying chips and interacting with the seller. The idea of shopping in this study is that the informants play games because they follow the trend. Role shopping in this research is the informant sends the chip if his friend also sends the chip for him.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the personal branding of Bengkulu City celebgram through ikoy-ikoy content. This study used data collection techniques of observation, interviews, and documentation. The subject in this study was@akadika. This research is qualitative with a descriptive approach with the theory of Personal Branding called Montoya (in Haroen 2014) consisting of eight personal branding concepts. The results of this study show that the Akadika program fulfills eight personal branding concepts, namely: 1) Specialization: Akadika with his expertise in photography distributes Ikoy-Ikoy in the form of color presets. 2) Leadership: Akadika explained by asking questions about photography, either from the color presets used, the equipment, or the settings used. 3) Personality: Akadika makes good use of its brand so that it can be trusted by the followers by posting content that can add insight. 4) Difference: Akadika is better known as a photographer with the abilities possessed by him. 5) Visible: to be more recognizable and visible, Akadika is always active on Instagram social media by posting educational content and providing photos and videos. 6) Unity: Akadika's life on social media Instagram describes how his life in the real world looks like. 7) Constancy: the steps taken by Akadika in providing Ikoy-Ikoy content are making questions, where in the question there is an image that explains the question. 8) Good Name: by providing Ikoy-Ikoy content, it can broaden the horizons of its followers on Instagram and get the color presets they share

Abstract

This study aims to determine the meaning of the message of human relations with themselves and others in the film "Sejuta Sayang Untuknya". This research uses descriptive qualitative research methods with data collection techniques namely observation, documentation and literature study. The theoretical basis used is Roland Barthes' semiotic analysis consisting of denotation, connotation and myth. The results of the study indicate that the meaning of the message of human relations with himself is: (a) work ethic which is divided into 5, namely working lawfully, studying hard, being disciplined, being responsible, adhering to principles. (b) imitating signatures, (c) forgiving, (d) honest which is divided into 2, namely honest in words and honest in deeds. The meaning of the message of human relations with each other is: (a) manners which are divided into 3, namely with older people, talking to parents, greeting when visiting and meeting. (b) please help, (c) be rude to parents, (d) say thank you.

Abstract

This study aims to find out the self disclosure of second instagram account users among students of Dehasen Bengkulu University. In this study using qualitative research methods with a type of qualitative descriptive approach research. The number of informants in this study was 5 people. Data collection techniques in this study used methods of observation, interview and documentation. The data analysis technique performed is a Miles and Huberman model analysis technique that is carried out in three stages, data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions or verification. The results showed the expression made by informants to channel hobbies, entertain themselves, and let go of the unek-unek. Self-clarity, at this stage the post that the informant shared on the second account about a person who is liked and also about life problems. Social control, this stage all informants prefer to hide personal information. In the development of relationships, it can be said that not all informants have been in contact with friends on second accounts.
