Abstract

The Quester CWE 370 truck is one of the most widely used transport vehicles in the industry, where reliability and operational efficiency are critical to ensuring a smooth supply chain. This research aims to optimize truck performance through vessel system modification, which focuses on improving fuel strength and efficiency. The modification process includes checking the raw material, cutting, welding, and smoothing, which is followed by testing to ensure fuel flow stability and better engine response. The results show that vessel system modifications not only improve fuel efficiency, but also extend engine life and reduce the need for routine maintenance. Thus, these modifications provide long-term benefits for the company in terms of operational cost savings and increased productivity.

Abstract

Corrosion still remains a serious problem in the application of aluminum alloys, such as Aluminum 6061, which is one of the most widely used aluminum alloys in industries because of its high strength-to-weight ratio. However, the material degrades when exposed to aggressive environments, such as acidic, alkaline, or salty solutions, and the control of corrosion has been achieved with the use of synthetic chemical inhibitors, but the increasing concern of environmental and health risks has shifted attention to more eco-friendly alternatives. The present study aimed at evaluating the efficacy of three vegetable oils (coconut oil, palm oil, and soybean oil) as environmentally friendly corrosion inhibitors for Aluminum 6061, and the alloy coupons were subjected to three different corrosive solutions (hydrochloric acid, sodium hydroxide, and sodium chloride). A quantitative experimental procedure was employed to determine the corrosion rate through the measurement of the weight loss of aluminum coupons prior to and after the immersion, and the results showed that all three oils were able to reduce the corrosion rate when compared to the samples without any inhibitor. Among them, coconut oil gave the best protection, followed by soybean oil and palm oil, because the adsorption of the organic compounds and fatty acids in the oils onto the aluminum surface formed a thin layer that separated the metal and the corrosive environment. Consequently, the results also showed that the use of bio-based oils can be a promising alternative to synthetic corrosion inhibitors in industries that use aluminumbased materials.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the potential of castor oil (Jatropha curcas L.) as a plant-based alternative engine lubricant and compare it to commercial mineral-based lubricants. The research process includes drying Jatropha seeds and epoxidizing the oil using oxidizing agents (H₂O₂) and (CH₃COOH) with variations of (1:0.075; 1:0.15; 1:0.225; and 1:0.30). Chemical testing was conducted to analyze the acid number of the oil, while physical testing was carried out to measure its viscosity index, flash point, and pour point. The results show that Jatropha oil has an acid number of 5.30, a viscosity index of 217, a flash point of 270°C, and a pour point of 0°C. Therefore, Jatropha oil demonstrates potential as a base material for engine lubricants due to its relatively high flash point, which approaches that of polyol ester (POE)-based oils. However, further modification with additives is required to lower its pour point, ensuring it remains fluid in colder climates such as those in subtropical regions.

Abstract

This study develops an integrated aerodynamic optimization and simulation pipeline for fixed‑wing Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) to improve mission efficiency while projecting lower carbon emissions through energy use reductions. A parametric geometry with airfoil selection, aspect ratio, sweep, taper, twist, and winglet controls is optimized using a multi‑objective genetic algorithm coupled to Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulation. Objectives minimize drag and mission power while maximizing lift‑to‑drag under representative cruise conditions. A data‑efficient power model links aerodynamic states to per‑mission energy, enabling rapid iteration as a surrogate within the optimization loop. To ensure reliability, the CFD solver was validated against NASA experimental benchmarks for the NACA 0012 airfoil, achieving a margin of error below 3%. The optimization results demonstrate a significant shift from traditional baseline designs. By adopting a non-symmetric air foil combination, NACA 4412 root and NACA 2412 tip, increasing the aspect ratio to 9.8, and implementing specific winglet cant angels, the optimized design achieved a 44.7% reduction in aerodynamic drag. Visual analysis through velocity and pressure contours confirmed cleaner flow fields and weakened wingtip vortices, which directly translate to lower propulsion power. Ultimately, this study delivers a reproducible design pipeline an a Pareto-optimal map for balancing aerodynamic efficiency with structural practicality. While emissions were not measured directly, the documented 44.7% reduction in drag and corresponding decrease in energy demand provide a strong indicator for the potential to lower the carbon footprint of future UAV operations.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of a peer-tutor-based Hybrid Learning model on SMAW welding performance in the 3G position among 11th-grade Welding Engineering students at SMKN 10 Malang. This study involved 2 groups of students: those who studied using peer-tutor-based hybrid learning and those who studied without peer-tutor assistance. The research method used was a quasi-experimental posttest-only control-group design. The research subjects comprised two classes: a control and an experimental class, each with 30 students. The research instrument was an SMAW welding practice test in the 3G position, assessed using a welding results assessment rubric. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, the Kolmogorov–Smirnov normality test, Levene's homogeneity test, and an independent-samples t-test. The results showed a significant difference in students' welding practice between the control and experimental classes, with a significance value of sig. <0.05. Thus, it can be concluded that the peer-tutor-based hybrid learning model has a significant effect on SMAW welding performance in the 3G position for vocational high school students. The application of a peer-tutor-based hybrid learning model has a significant effect on SMAW welding performance in the 3G position for students at SMKN 10 Malang, compared to the control class without peer-tutor assistance.
