Abstract

The energy crisis is approaching, not only Indonesia but also all around the world. This requires technological innovation to overcome it, such as; making alternative fuels that are cheap and easy to produce. One alternative way to overcome this problem is to make alternative fuels in the form of bio briquettes by utilizing organic waste (sugarcane bagasse and sugarcane leaves). This study aims to study the effect of the ratio of leaves and bagasse as main sources and using lignin as the adhesive, to produce bio briquettes. The ratio of leaves and bagasse used in this research were (30: 70). The pyrolysis process is carried out to obtain charcoal and sieved at 30 mesh. The charcoal is then mixed with the adhesive. The ratio of the amount of lignin with a mixture of sugarcane bagasse and leaves were (10: 90); (15: 85); (20: 80); (25: 75); (30: 70), and mold. The briquettes formed dried in an oven at 105 oC for 1 hour. The results of this study showed that the lowest calorific value was 4860 cal/kg at 10% lignin content and the highest calorific value at 25% was 5876 cal/kg. The results of the analysis of the lowest moisture content (%) were at 10% lignin content of 0.0781% and the highest moisture content was 0.1387% at 25% lignin content.

Abstract

The essential oil from crystal seedless guava leaves has several utilization as an antioxidant and antimicrobial active compound. Essential oil extraction with maceration and conventional method has many disadvantages, so the microwave hydrodistillation method is used as an alternative to optimizing its quantity and quality. This research aims to obtain the effect of microwave power and feed to the solvent ratio toward essential oil yield. The extraction of essential oil used crystal guava leaves with feed and solvent ratio (w/v) 1:4; 1:5; 1:6; 1:7. The extraction process was carried out at atmospheric pressure and 100 oC with an electrical power of microwave from 300, 450, and 600 watts over 3 hours. The result shows that microwave power and the ratio of feed to solvent (F/S) give a significant ratio to essential oil yield. Its yield rises significantly along with increasing microwave power and ratio of feed and solvent. The highest yield is obtained at 600 watts and 1:7 (w/v) ratio that is 1.0 %.

Abstract

The aims of this brief overview are providing the knowledge about the physical and chemical properties of perovskite oxides in various synthesis method and the correlation of its performance for separating oxygen from air. Perovskite oxide showed excellent conductor of ion and electron, simultaneously through oxygen lattice in the crystal structure. In the present review, we have presented the detail on the crystal structure and the factor that affect the pseudo-crystal, various synthesis method i.e., solid-state, sol-gel, combustion, and co-precipitation. It has been completed with the discussion of the characteristic and the mechanism of the perovskite to separate oxygen from air
