Abstract

Objective: is to determine the relationship between the explosive power of the leg muscles and the swimming speed of the 50m breaststroke sprint athlete aged. Methods: this research is a non-experimental research in the form of a correlation study to analyze the relationship between leg muscle explosive power and swimming speed of 50m breaststroke sprint athletes. There are 23 swimmers as the samples from Tumit Mitra Bangsa Swimming Association with an age range of 12-17 years taken with purposive sampling technique. The measurements taken were leg muscle explosive power with vertical jumps and swimming speed by mathematical calculation of the division of the pool distance (50m) with a record of the swimmer's time measured using a stopwatch. Result: the correlation test with the Spearman rank correlation coefficient showed a significant relationship with a value of p = 0.001 (p <0.05) with a very strong relationship (r = 0.997), which means greater explosive power of the leg muscles increases the swimming speed of the 50m breaststroke sprint athlete. The average with a standard deviation of leg muscle explosive power is 45.85 ± 5.99 and at swimming speed is 1.07 ± 0.15. Conclusions: there is a significant relationship between leg muscle explosive power and 50m breaststroke swimming speed.

Abstract

Background: Knee injury is a common sports injury, and exercise therapy can be guided by functional and biological tests to assess healing and readiness to return to sport. This study aimed to develop a test battery to identify the most predictive functional test in determining the success of an exercise therapy program for sports injury. Methods: A test construction methodology was used, incorporating 8 field test instruments and TGF-β1 as a biological marker. Statistical methods, including multiple correlation and Wherry Doolittle test selection, were applied to develop a functional test model supporting post-injury sports therapy. Results: This study found no significant correlation between TGF-β1 and the single leg stance (p=0.160), single leg calf raise (p=0.902), vertical jump (p=0.344), shuttle run (p=0.794), and hop tests (p=0.555). However, significant correlations were found with the sit and reach test (p<0.001; r=0.471) and hexagonal agility test (p=0.019; r=-0.318). Multivariate linear regression showed that the single leg stance, sit and reach, and hexagonal agility tests were predictors of TGF-β1, with the single leg stance and sit and reach tests explaining 23% of its variance. Conclusion: Test battery arrangement for functional tests that were considered predictive include single leg stance and sit and reach tests, with low correlation values, which two tests in the form of single leg balance and sit and reach tests have a relationship with tissue healing. Additionally, several other tests were designed to determine the ability of athletes to RTS.

Abstract

Futsal is a sport that requires speed and agility. However, the physical fitness measurements of futsal extracurricular students at MAN 2 Soppeng indicated below average speed and agility. This study aims to compare the effects of combining core stability exercise with plyometric training and ladder training on improving speed and agility. This was a true experimental study with the randomized match two groups design involving 22 students, divided into two groups of 11. Group 1 received CSE+PT, while Group 2 received CSE+LT for 6 weeks. Speed was measured using a 30-meter sprint test, and agility was assessed with the Illinois Agility Test. Both groups showed significant improvements in agility (p=<0.001). For speed, Group 1 showed p=0.003 and Group 2 p=<0.001. However, there was no significant difference between groups for speed improvement (p=0.061), while there was a significant difference in agility (p=<0.001). This study suggests CSE+LT is more effective in enhancing agility).

Abstract

Kinesiotaping is passive stabilisator, so it is necessary to have a combination of one intervention such as adding Flexi-bar Shoulder Exercise (FSE) as an active proprioceptor stimulator to optimize joint stability and optimalize shooting accuracy for archery. The research method used was a quasi experiment pre and post-test group control with 22 archery athlete, divided into a control group that only received kinesiotaping, and a intervention group that received kinesiotaping and FSE 3 times a week for 4 weeks. Subjects were assessed for proprioceptive ability using the joint position sense test (JPS) of abduction and flexion and shooting accuracy. Based on the difference test pre and post the control group, there were significant differences in flexion JPS (p=0.00), abduction JPS (p=0.00), and shooting accuracy (p=0.03), for the treatment group, there were significant differences in flexion JPS (p=0.00), abduction JPS (p=0.00), and shooting accuracy (p=0.03). Based on the comparison test between the control and treatment groups, there were no significant differences proprioceptive abilities in flexion (p=0.151) and abduction (p=0.00) as well as in shooting accuracy (p=0.163). Combination of FSE with kinesiotaping, can improve proprioceptive abilities and shooting accuracy but did not provide a different effect than the Kinesiotaping group

Abstract

The process of learning from home during the Covid-19 pandemic, which is generally sedentary, causes changes in the basic functions of the body. In addition, lack of knowledge about movement and basic body functions and minimal checking of student body posture at school can have an impact on decreasing student fitness, concentration, and achievement. This can be seen when students began to be active again to carry out 100% learning from schools after the Covid-19 pandemic. The purposes of this community service activity are to provide preventive and curative efforts through educational assistance and examination of movements and basic body functions to increase student insigh about ideal body posture. This activity was carried out at SMA Negeri 85 West Jakarta with a target of 35 students, through four main activities: (1) preparation and production of educational materials about movements and basic body functions, (2) mentoring and delivery of material to the students, (3) examine movements and basic body functions, and (4) evaluate. The results achieved during the implementation showed the seriousness and enthusiasm of the students and based on the results of the examination, there were still students who had abnormal BMI and abdominal circumference. Likewise for body posture, examination of the upper extremities with a neck shoulder line test and examination of the lower extremities with true length and appearance length tests found dissimilarities between the right and left sides of the body. Furthermore, in the examination of body functions through isometric and prone plank tests, there are scores below the normal score, which means that there is a decrease in basic body functions like muscle strength and endurance. The results of this examination are evaluated and students will be able to recognize their body posture and take actions/steps that can maintain/ improve the posture to be better.
