Abstract

Lagu “Wong Sepele” merupakan salah satu karya musik pop Jawa yang dipopulerkan oleh Ndarboy Genk menggambarkan tema pengabaian sosial dan bagaimana seseorang yang dipandang rendah. Penelitian ini menggunakan analisis wacana kritis model Teun A. Van Dijk. Bertujuan: pertama, menganalisis struktur makro, mikro, dan superstruktur; kedua, menganalisis kognisi sosial serta konteks sosial yang terdapat pada lagu. Metode yang digunakan yaitu deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelitian ini, terdapat unsur-unsur struktur wacana saling berkaitan dalam membongkar unsur kekuasaan pada lirik lagu. Ditemukan struktur makro mengangkat tema pengabaian sosial, superstruktur terdapat elemen-elemen dalam membentuk pemahaman lagu. Struktur mikro terdapat aspek-aspek linguistik yang memberikan wawasan bahasa dalam menyampaikan kritik sosial dan membangun makna lagu. Kognisi sosial ditemukan bahwa lagu ini merupakan kisah perjalanan pengarang mengandung ketidakadilan dan skema sosial, dengan pengulangan frasa “Wong Sepele” menekankan tema tersebut. Konteks sosial terdapat elemen kekuasaan  yang menggambarkan marginalisasi dan ketidaksetaraan setiap individu, menjadikan daya tarik bagi pendengar lagu terutama penikmat lagu Jawa yang menjadikan lagu relevan pada kisah perjalananya.

Abstract

Tanduk is a series of activities carried out before the start of a traditional ceremony to bring blessings. This study uses an ethnolinguistic approach to examine the recitation of tanduk prayers as a verbal expression in the traditional ceremonies of the Sendangcoyo Village community, Lasem Subdistrict, Rembang Regency. The tanduk prayer is a conventional form of speech rich in spiritual, symbolic, and local cultural content. The research method used is qualitative descriptive, with data collection techniques including observation, interviews, and documentation. The primary data consists of the text of the tanduk prayer obtained from local traditional figures, which was then analyzed using an ethnolinguistic approach. The study results indicate that the tanduk prayer has a distinctive linguistic structure, consisting of Javanese krama sentences with a repetitive style. The primary function of this prayer is as a medium for requesting safety and spiritual protection during traditional rituals. Additionally, the tanduk prayer contains local knowledge systems regarding life after death, spiritual hierarchy, and the relationship between humans, nature, and ancestors. Through this tanduk prayer, the community collectively builds awareness of the values of life that have been passed down through generations. Thus, the tanduk prayer is a religious practice and a living archive of the spirituality and cultural identity of the Sendangcoyo community.

Abstract

Language variations that correlate with social variations in society are interesting and important studies to do. One of the social variations that shows the dynamics of language is the use of Javanese by religious preachers. This study aims to describe and classify the structure and characteristics of registers used by Javanese preachers in social media. The theory used is the language register theory from Halliday and discourse structure. The source of the data comes from the utterances of Javanese-language preachers on Youtube, especially on the Anza channel. KH. Anwar Zahid. The research was conducted using a descriptive qualitative approach. The process of collecting data through observation and listening methods with note-taking techniques. The research data is in the form of words containing registers that show the structure and characteristics of Javanese preachers on YouTube social media. The results of the study show that there is a structure and register characteristics used by Javanese preachers on social media, especially on the anza channel KH. Anwar Zahid. The structure of the register of Javanese-language preachers on the social media Youtube channel KH. Anwar Zahid can be seen in the opening structure, content or core structure, and closing structure. Each of these structures has a register shape that is not the same. The structure of the registers of Javanese preachers studied show that dominant vocabulary or discourse related to Islamic religion emerges and Javanese culture. In addition, it was found that there were specific greeting words, unique abbreviations, humor or jokes that showed the closeness between the congregation and the preacher, namely KH. Anwar Zahid.

Abstract

Penggunaan aplikasi digital kini menjadi tuntutan dalam mendukung profesionalitas kinerja di berbagai sektor, termasuk profesi guru yang memerlukan kompetensi keterampilan digital. Di sekolah sasaran pengabdian, masih banyak guru yang gagap teknologi dan kurang memanfaatkan inovasi digital terbaru. Sementara itu, siswa sangat akrab dengan teknologi, khususnya platform TikTok yang tengah populer. Untuk menjawab permasalahan tersebut, kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini menawarkan pelatihan interaktif pemanfaatan TikTok guna meningkatkan kompetensi profesional, performa kerja, dan potensi ekonomi kreatif para guru. Pelatihan ini bertujuan melatih para guru agar mampu memanfaatkan TikTok secara maksimal sebagai media pembelajaran yang menarik dan inovatif. Materi mencakup pengenalan serta pembuatan akun TikTok, teknik membuat konten edukatif yang kreatif, strategi meningkatkan interaksi audiens, serta monetisasi konten sebagai peluang tambahan penghasilan. Selain teori, kegiatan juga berfokus pada praktik langsung melalui workshop, diskusi kelompok, pembuatan video edukatif, dan siaran langsung. Melalui kegiatan ini, guru diharapkan mampu meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran, memperluas promosi lembaga pendidikan, serta beradaptasi dengan perkembangan teknologi digital. Hasil kegiatan diharapkan memberi inspirasi bagi guru lain untuk lebih kreatif dan produktif di era digital. Target luaran meliputi publikasi artikel pada jurnal Varia Humanika, rilis berita di media massa online (sudah terealisir), unggahan video kegiatan di TikTok (sudah ada), serta luaran kegiatan yang di-Hak Kekayaan Intelektual (HKI)-kan (sudah terwujud).

Abstract

Although satire, roasting, and humor in digital media have attracted growing scholarly attention, most existing studies examine these phenomena in entertainment settings, general social media discourse, or broad communication contexts. By contrast, pasemon, a culturally grounded form of Javanese indirect satire, has largely been studied in relation to offline interaction, politeness, and everyday speech. Its role in digitally mediated religious discourse therefore remains underexplored. This study addresses that gap by investigating how pasemon operates in KH. Anwar Zahid’s digital da'wah on YouTube, with specific reference to the video “Kapolda Jateng Kena Roasting” on the Anza channel. Drawing on a sociolinguistic perspective and employing a qualitative descriptive design, the study analyzes utterances containing pasemon transcribed from a 1-hour-44-minute-55-second video. Data were collected through uninvolved observation and note-taking and examined using Miles and Huberman’s interactive model of analysis. The findings demonstrate that pasemon is organized through a three-part discourse structure consisting of an opening, a body, and a closing. Linguistically, it is realized through honorific and double forms of address, satirical humor, hyperbole, and lexical repetition, especially in references to institutional authority and moral-religious imagery. These features allow criticism to be conveyed indirectly while preserving respect, solidarity, and audience acceptability. The study contributes to international sociolinguistic discussions on indirectness, satire, and digital discourse by demonstrating how a local communicative practice is recontextualized and sustained in contemporary online religious communication.

Abstract

The language of Kethoprak Wahyu Manggolo: A sociolinguistic study Kethoprak is a form of traditional Javanese theater that serves not only as entertainment but also as a medium of communication and cultural preservation. This study is motivated by the limited number of works that examine linguistic aspects in kethoprak performances, particularly from a sociolinguistic perspective. It aims to investigate language variation in performances by Kethoprak Wahyu Manggolo through a sociolinguistic approach. The analysis focuses on varieties of Javanese, such as ngoko, krama madya, and krama alus, and on how their use reflects cultural values and social relations within Javanese society. The research employs a qualitative descriptive method, using non-participatory observation of dialogue in performance videos. The findings indicate that language variation is guided not only by linguistic norms, but also functions as a symbol of social status, a vehicle for emotional expression, and a means of conveying moral values and subtle social critique. The speech styles used by characters in the performances mirror a hierarchical social structure, power relations, and the cultural identity of Javanese society. This study underscores the importance of traditional performing arts as a medium for preserving language and local cultural values. Kethoprak merupakan salah satu bentuk teater tradisional Jawa yang tidak hanya berfungsi sebagai hiburan, tetapi juga sebagai media komunikasi dan pelestarian budaya. Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh belum banyaknya kajian yang menelaah aspek kebahasaan dalam pementasan kethoprak, khususnya dari sudut pandang sosiolinguistik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji variasi bahasa dalam pementasan Kethoprak Wahyu Manggolo dengan pendekatan sosiolinguistik. Fokus kajian diarahkan pada bentuk-bentuk ragam bahasa Jawa seperti ngoko, krama madya, dan krama alus, serta bagaimana penggunaan bahasa tersebut mencerminkan nilai budaya dan relasi sosial masyarakat Jawa. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif dengan teknik observasi non-partisipatif terhadap dialog dalam video pementasan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan variasi bahasa tidak hanya mengikuti norma linguistik, tetapi juga berfungsi sebagai simbol status sosial, alat ekspresi emosi, dan sarana penyampaian nilai moral serta kritik sosial secara halus. Ragam bahasa yang digunakan tokoh-tokoh dalam pementasan mencerminkan struktur sosial yang hierarkis, relasi kekuasaan, dan identitas kultural masyarakat Jawa. Penelitian ini menegaskan pentingnya seni pertunjukan tradisional sebagai media pelestarian bahasa dan nilai budaya lokal.
