Abstract

The rabbit farming business has great potential to meet the need for animal protein, and currently, many rabbit farming businesses are being cultivated. Farmers face nonoptimal reproductive performance with the currently implemented mating management, so improvement efforts are needed. The community service aimed to implement good breeding practices through communal mating and introducing bucks Rex rabbits to rabbit breeders in Kulonprogo, Yogyakarta. The community service activities were conducted from June to September 2023 at one of the rabbit breeders in Kulonprogo Regency, Yogyakarta. The activities include: 1. initial preparation and coordination, 2. preparation of extension materials, guidebooks (assistance media), 3. Direct training through extension. 4. Implement communal mating, introduce Bucks Rex directly at partner locations, and distribute guidebooks. 5. Monitoring and evaluation of activity results. The enthusiasm of breeders in community service was proven by the presence of 30 breeders in extension and discussion activities with the theme "Kopi Darat Peternak Kelinci Komersial." The results of the application of the communal mating method show farmer satisfaction, with 4 out of 5 rabbits becoming pregnant from the application of this method. Increasing the reproductive performance of the breeder's doe can increase rabbit production, thereby contributing to the breeder's income. Implementing good breeding practices through communal mating and the introduction of bucks Rex rabbits can be a solution for breeders regarding the low productivity of the rabbits.

Abstract

The aim of study is to determine the ability of kitolod leaves given through drinking water as a substitute for antibiotics in terms of growth performance, weight, and length of the small intestine of broiler. The method used is a Complete Random Design with 5 treatments of 4 tests and each test consists of 10 chickens. Details of the treatment: TO = 0% kitolod leaf extract; T1 = tetracycline antibiotics; T2 = 0.5% kitolod leaf extract; Q3: 3.0% kitolod leaf extract, and T4 = 4.5% kitolod leaf extract. The variables observed in this study are the Performance of broiler chickens (feed consumption, weight gain, and feed conversion) and the weight and length of the small intestine of broiler chickens. The results showed that there was no noticeable effect (P>0,05) of giving kitolod leaf extract on the growth performance, weight, and length of the gastrointestinal tract of broiler chickens. Pemberian extract of kitolod leaves up to 4.5% through drinking water has not able to increase the growth performance, weight, and length of the small intestine of broiler.   Key words: Small Intestine, Weight Gain, Feed Consumption, Feed Conversion.   ABSTRAK Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahuai kemampuan ekstrak daun kitolod yang diberikan melalui air minum sebagai pengganti antibiotik ditinjau dari peforma pertumbuhan, bobot dan panjang usus halus ayam broiler. Metode yang dipakai yaitu Rancangan Acak Lengkap, 5 perlakuan, 4 ulangan (10 ekor ayam pada tiap ulangan). Rincian dari perlakuan: TO = 0% ekstrak daun kitolod; T1 = antibiotik tetracyclin; T2 = 1,5% ekstrak daun kitolod; T3: 3,0% ekstrak daun kitolod; dan T4 = 4,5% ekstrak daun kitolod. Variabel yang diamati pada penelitian ialah: Performa ayam broiler (konsumsi pakan, PBB, dan FCR) dan bobot serta panjang usus halus ayam broiler. Hasil Tidak ada pengaruh yang nyata (P>0,05) pemberian ekstrak daun kitolod terhadap kinerja pertumbuhan, bobot dan panjang saluran pencernaan ayam broiler. Pemberian ekstrak daun kitolod sampai 4,5% melalui air minum belum mampu meningkatkan kinerja pertumbuhan, bobot dan panjang usus halus broiler.   Kata kunci: Usus Halus, Konsumsi Pakan, PBB, FCR

Abstract

Beringin Raya Village's position, near the Bengkulu University campus and directly adjacent to Central Bengkulu Regency, should allow it to flourish as a satellite area. This location has the potential to become a new hub of activity, serving as a gateway between Bengkulu City and its neighboring districts. However, the development of the area surrounding the school in Beringin Raya Village is slower than that of neighboring villages nearby. The restrictions of regional expansion in the Beringin Raya sub-district resulted in the formation of spaces between residential settlements with a high potential for agricultural, livestock, and home industry development. The agricultural and livestock sectors are not the primary economic drivers in the Beringin Raya sub-district. The realities on the ground demonstrate that some individuals earn a living as farmers, particularly vegetable and horticulture growers who work in settlements. Identification of surrounding environmental resources in Beringin Raya Village is the first step toward understanding the potential problems, possibilities, and risks that will arise in the area. Field observations and conversations with community leaders are part of the data collection process. The next stage following identification is to establish priorities. The development of the area surrounding the Bengkulu University campus is a difficult task that necessitates a collaborative approach. Various variables are interconnected and impact one another in attempts to solve existing problems. The study programs of Bengkulu University play a vital role in contributing ideas, research, devotion, and solutions to help overcome or decrease current difficulties. Collaboration with the government, stakeholders, and local communities is essential for developing and executing effective policies.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengukur efektivitas penerapan fly trap dengan menggunakan antraktan berbahan telur ayam di kandang sapi potong. Penelitian dilaksanakan di kandang sapi potong Pusat Pengembangan Ternak (PPT) Fakultas Peternakan Universitas Gadjah Mada. Materi yang digunakan adalah alat fly trap atau perangkap lalat dan atraktan berupa telur ayam yang telah dikocok dan juga petrogenol. Atraktan dimasukkan ke dalam flay trap yang berbentuk tabung silinder. Perangkap berisi atraktan kemudian ditempatkan pada tiap-tiap petak kandang. Pengamatan dilakukan setiap hari hingga tidak ditemukan adanya lalat yang terperangkap di fly trap. Data yang dikaji meliputi daya tahan atraktan, jenis lalat, dan jumlah lalat yang terperangkap. Data dianalisis menggunakan analisis variansi pola searah. Antraktan berbahan telur ayam dan petrogenol mampu bertahan hingga tujuh hari, dan mampu menangkap lalat Musca domestica, Chrysomya megacepala, Bactrocera dorsalis, dan total lalat masing masing sebanyak 32,40±18,52 dan 1,20±1,09 ekor, 6,00±4,95 dan 0,00±0,00 ekor, 0,00±0,00 dan 2,80±1,64 ekor, serta 38,40±22,74 dan 4,00±2,55 ekor. Jenis lalat Musca domestica yang terperangkap pada telur ayam lebih tinggi (p<0,01) daripada petrogenol serta lalat Chrysomya megacepala yang terperangkap pada telur ayam lebih tinggi (p<0,05) daripada petrogenol. Namun, jumlah lalat Bactrocera dorsalis yang terperangkap pada telur ayam lebih rendah (p<0,01) dari pada petrogenol. Secara total jumlah lalat yang terperangkap pada atraktan berbahan telur ayam lebih banyak (p<0,01) daripada petrogenol. Disimpulkan bahwa aplikasi fly trap dengan menggunakan antraktan berbahan telur ayam lebih efektif dalam menangkap lalat di kandang sapi potong dibandingkan dengan menggunakan petrogenol.

Abstract

Ayam ketarras merupakan ayam persilangan antara ayam arab dan ayam ras petelur dengan persentase darah 75% ayam arab dan 25% ayam ras petelur. Saat ini ayam ketarras keturunannya sudah pada generasi kedua (G2). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat performa produksi telur pada ayam ketarras dengan bobot badan yang berbeda. Penelitian ini menggunakan 30 ekor ayam betina Ketarras dengan jenis kelamin betina. Penelitian dilaksanakan di Commercial Zone and Animal Laboratory (CZAL) Jurusan Peternakan, Fakultas Pertanian, Universitas Bengkulu. Kandang yang digunakan adalah kandang batteray yang merupakan kandang individu. Pada saat pemeliharan pemberikan pakan dengan komponen konsentrat khusus ayam petelur, dedak dan jagung giling. Paramater yang diambil ketika penelitian adalah produksi telur, berat telur dan  persentase produksi. Rancangan yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah Rancangan Acak Lengkap. Data yang diperoleh disajikan berdasarkan rataan dan standar deviasi. Jumlah telur yang dihasilkan dari 30 ekor selama 3 bulan pengamatan sebesar 1.728 butir dengan rataan produksi telur perbulan per ekor adalah 19 butir/ekor/bulan. Secara keseluruhan berat telur yang diperoleh sebesar 48.22 gram. Sementara persentase produksi telur secara keseluruhan yang diperoleh mencapai 63.30 %. Hasil penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa ayam Ketarras generasi ke-2 umur 11-13 bulan memiliki performa produksi, persentase produksi dan berat telur yang masih bervariasi.

Abstract

The aim of the study was to determine the best percentage of Gamal (Gliricidia sepium) leaf meal in complete feed to increase the growth of Rex rabbits. The design used was a completely randomized design (CRD), which consisted of 3 treatments with 4 replications: P0 (control treatment), P1 (5% Gliricidia sepium leaf powder, P2 (10% Gliricidia sepium leaf powder). The varriabels were feed consumption, Averga Daily Gain (ADG) and Feed Efficiency. The research data were analyzed by means of variance (ANOVA), if the results of the analysis had a significant effect (P<0.05) then Duncan's Multiple Range Test (DMRT) was further tested to see differences between treatments.The results of the study showed that the treatment had no significant (P>0.05) effect on feed consumption, average daily gain (ADG) and feed efficiency. The average of daily consumption of rabbits was 100.17-111.10 g/head/day, average daily gain (ADG) was 19.16-22.80 (g/head/day), and feed efficiency was 19.51-20.85 %. Based on the results of the study, it was concluded that the use of Gliricidia sepium leaves up to 10% did not have a significant effect on feed consumption, average daily gain, and feed efficiency.   Key words: growth, pellet, Rex   ABSTRAK Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui persentase terbaik penggunaan tepung daun gamal (Gliricidia sepium) dalam pakan komplit sehingga dapat meningkatkan pertumbuhan kelinci Rex. Rancangan yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL), yang terdiri dari 3 perlakuan dengan 4 ulangan : P0 (perlakuan kontrol), P1 (5% tepung daun Gliricidia sepium), P2 (10% tepung daun Gliricidia sepium). Variabel yang diamati terdiri dari konsumsi pakan, Pertambahan Bobot Badan Harian (PBBH) dan Efisiensi Pakan. Data hasil penelitian dianalisis dengan ANOVA, apabila hasil analisis berpengaruh nyata (P<0,05) maka diuji lanjut Duncan’s Multiple Range Test (DMRT) untuk melihat perbedaan antar perlakuan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan berpengaruh tidak nyata (P>0,05) terhadap konsumsi pakan, pertambahan berat badan harian (PBBH) dan efisiensi pakan. Rataan konsumsi pakan kelinci bekisar 100,17-111,10 g/ekor/hari, pertambahan berat badan harian (PBBH) berkisar 19,16 -22,80 (g/ekor/hari), dan efisiensi pakan berkisar 19,51-20,85 %. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan daun Gliricidia sepium sampai 10% tidak menurunkan performa pertumbuhan kelinci rex yang meliputi konsumsi pakan, pertambahan bobot badan harian,dan efisiensi pakan.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effect of using Gliricidia sepium leaf meal in feed on the digestibility of dry matter, organic matter, and crude fiber of Rex rabbits. The study used 12 Rex rabbits which were grouped into 3 feed treatment groups. Group P0 is the control group, Group P1 is fed with 5% Gliricidia sepium leaf meal. Group P2 was fed with 10% Gliricidia sepium leaf meal. The variables observed were dry matter consumption, dry matter digestibility, organic matter digestibility and crude fiber digestibility. The data obtained were analyzed using ANOVA. The results showed that the use of Gliricidia sepium leaf powder did not have a significant effect on the consumption and production of rabbit dry matter. The average dry matter consumption of rabbits ranged from 90.67 to 103.76 g/head/day. The treatment had a very significant effect (P<0.01) on the digestibility of dry matter, organic matter, and had a significant effect (P<0.01) on the digestibility of crude fiber. Based on the DMRT test, on dry matter digestibility, P0 (69.74 ± 1.02 %) and P1 (67.55 ± 2.39 %) were very significantly different from P2 (63.26 ± 1.81 %). Based on the DMRT test, on organic matter digestibility, P0 (69.23 ± 0.84 %) and P1 (67.41 ± 2.27 %) were very significantly different from P2 (62.35 ± 1.80 %). Based on the DMRT test, on crude fiber digestibility, P0 (67.92 ± 0.96 %) was very significantly different from P1 (63.41 ± 3.59 %) and P2 (67.93 ± 1.67 %). The conclusion from the study was that the use of Gliricidia sepium leaf meal up to 5% had no effect on the digestibility of dry matter, organic matter, and crude fiber in Rex rabbits.   Key words: digestibility, pellet, tannin   ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi pengaruh penggunaan tepung daun Gliricidia sepium dalam pakan terhadap kecernaan bahan kering, bahan organik, dan serat kasar pada kelinci Rex. Perlakuan berpengaruh sangat nyata (P<0,01) terhadap kecernaan bahan kering, bahan organik, dan berpengaruh nyata (P<0,01) terhadap kecernaan serat kasar. Berdasarkan uji DMRT, pada kecernaan bahan kering, P0 (69,74±1,02 %) dan P1 (67,55±2,39 %) berbeda sangat nyata dengan P2 (63,26±1,81%). Berdasarkan uji DMRT, pada kecernaan bahan organik, P0 (69,23±0,84 %) dan P1 (67,41±2,27 %) berbeda sangat nyata dengan P2 (62,35±1,80 %). Abstract

This study was conducted  to evaluate the addition of roasted soybean seeds and Indigofera leaves to diet consisting of grass and tofu dregs on the consumption, digestibility and milk production of Anglo Nubian does. Four  Anglo Nubian does, mid-lactation, first parity, as Latin square experimental animals with 4 treatments in 4 experimental periods. The treatments are P0 as a control, in the form of  grass as much as 6 kg and concentrate (wet tofu dregs) as much as 6 kg, then P1 is a control diet plus 100 g of roasted soybeans, P 2 is a control diet plus 200 g of roasted soybeans, and P3 is a control diet plus 1000 g of fresh Indigofera leaves. Data were analyzed using variance and continued with the least significant difference test if there was a significant difference. The variables observed were the nutritional content of feed ingredients, nutrient consumption from the treatment feed used, and feed digestibility, as well as the average daily milk production. The results of the experiment showed that the average consumption of  grass nutrients was not significantly different between treatments (P>0.05), the average consumption of total dry matter  was significantly different (P<0.05). The total consumption of crude protein and total energy increased significantly (P<0.05). The average digestibility of feed nutrients was not significantly different (P>0.05). In general, the average daily milk production increased significantly (P<0.05). This study can be concluded that the addition of 200 g of roasted soybeans and 1000 g of Indigofera leaves  to diet of mid-lactation Anglo Nubian does can increase the average daily milk production

Abstract

ABSTRACT. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi penggunaan ekstrak daun senduduk sebagai antioksidan sosis daging sapi selama penyimpanan suhu ruang. Sebanyak 40 g bubuk daun senduduk dimaserasi dalam air destilata (1:4; b/v) selama 24 jam pada suhu kamar, disaring, kemudian di-freeze dry. Lima perlakuan diaplikasikan, yaitu kontrol yang mengandung daging sapi, minyak nabati, susu skim bubuk, tepung tapioka, garam, fosfat, es, dan bumbu-bumbu (P1); formula kontrol ditambah dengan butylated hydroxytoluene 0,01% (P2), formula kontrol ditambah ekstrak daun senduduk 0,5% (P3), formula kontrol ditambah ekstrak daun senduduk 0,75% (P4), dan formula kontrol ditambah ekstrak daun senduduk 1% (P5). Variabel yang diamati adalah susut masak, daya mengikat air, aktivitas antioksidan, nilai Tio barbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penambahan ekstrak daun senduduk menurunkan susut masak sosis dan tanpa memengaruhi karakteristik daya mengikat air. Penambahan ekstrak daun senduduk mampu meningkatkan daya hambat terhadap radikal bebas dan kapasitas antioksidan serta menekan nilai TBARS. Selama penyimpanan suhu pada ruang hingga 10 jam, aktivitas antioksidan mengalami penurunan tetapi tidak memengaruhi nilai TBARS. Kesimpulan dari hasil penelitian ini adalah penggunaan ekstrak daun senduduk hingga 1% dari berat daging dapat menekan oksidasi yang setara dengan butylated hydroxytoluene 0,01% pada sosis selama penyimpanan suhu ruang 10 jam.(Reducing oxidation in beef sausage during room temperature storage by adding senduduk (Melastoma malabathricum L.) leaf extract)ABSTRAK. This study aimed to evaluate the use of senduduk leaf extracts as an antioxidant beef sausage during room temperature storage. A-40 g powder was macerated with distilled water (1:4; w/v) for 24 h at room temperature, filtered, and then was freeze-dried. Five treatments were employed including control containing beef, vegetable oil, skimmed milk powder, tapioca, salt, phosphate, ice, and seasons (P1); control added butylated hydroxytoluene 0.01% (P2); senduduk leaf extract 0.5% (P3); senduduk leaf extract 0.75% (P4); and senduduk leaf extract 1% (P5). Variables observed were cooking loss, water holding capacity, antioxidant activity, and Tio barbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS). The results showed the addition of senduduk leaf extract could decrease the cooking loss without any effect on the water-holding capacity of the sausages. The addition of senduduk leaf extract increase the scavenging activity and antioxidant capacity and reduced TBARS value of the sausages. During storage, the antioxidant activity of the sausages diminished with no affect the TBARS value. It could be concluded that the addition of senduduk leaf extract 1% could retard lipids oxidation of the sausage and the capability was equal to butylated hydroxytoluene 0.01 during 10 hours of storage.
