Abstract

Essential oil production in the market is very diverse with various brands labeled as antioxidants that have gained more attention in the society recently. The purpose of this study was to analyze limonene and other antioxidants content of the essential oils in the market compared to homemade virgin coconut oil. The method used was Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) and Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) Spectroscopy. The infrared spectrogram showed the presence of alkanes and esters respectively at wave numbers of 3000-2850 and 1750-1730 cm-1. Chromatogram results showed the presence of limonenecompounds and some antioxidants with a fairly good separation in the several types of oils, which was not detected in the homemade virgin coconut oil.

Abstract

Kemampuan kelompok nelayan tradisional di bidang kemampuan teknologi pengolahan ikan masih sangat rendah. Hal ini disebabkan kurangnya pengetahuan dan terbatasnya sarana-prasarana yang mendukung. Sehingga berdampak pada pendapatan nelayan menjadi tidak maksimal. Teknologi pengolahan ikan merupakan suatu metode untuk menjaga kondisi ikan agar bisa bertahan lama dan tidak mudah rusak. Dari beberapa teknologi yang ada, pada pelaksanaan pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pemberdayaan masyarakat nelayan tentang proses pengawetan ikan dengan menggunakan mesin pendingin. Mitra pengabdian yang dipilih adalah kelompok nelayan Amertha Segara yang berlokasi di Desa Bugbug, Kabupaten Karangasem. Metode pelaksanaan pengabdian masyarakat meliputi melakukan survey awal, melakukan evaluasi kemampuan masyarakat sebelum pelatihan, memberikan penyuluhan dan pelatihan pengawetan ikan menggunakan mesin pendingin, mengevaluasi pehaman masyarakat pasca pelatihan dan memberikan bimbingan teknis tentang pengoperasian dan perwatan mesin pendingin. Dari hasil yang diperoleh pada awalnya kemampuan masrakat nelayan tentang mekanisme pengawetan ikan menggunakan mesin pendingin masih sangat rendah, setelah adanya penyuluhan dan pelatihan pemahaman masyarakat menjadi meningkat, masyarakat mengikuti penyuluhan dan pelatihan sampai akhir dengan semangat.

Abstract

Banjar Piling berada di wilayah Desa Mengesta, Kecamatan Penebel Kabupaten Tabanan Bali. Hampir sama dengan daerah lain yang ada di kabupaten Tabanan, Banjar Piling juga merupakan daerah pertanian. Produk utama dari hasil pertanian adalah padi sedangkan dari perkebunan adalah berbagai macam buah, sayuran dan umbi-umbian. Di Banjar Piling Kawan ada sekelompok ibu-ibu yang tergabung dalam Gapoktan dan KWT yang menekuni pembuatan kripik dengan bahan dasar singkong dan umbi talas. Hasil survey dan wawancara dengan kelompok pembuat kripik didapatkan bahwa pada proses pemotongan/pengirisan membutuhkan waktu yang relatif lama karena diperlukan ketelitian terutama pada proses pemotongan agar mendapatkan irisan yang tipis dan relatif sama. Peralatan yang dipakai untuk mengupas dan mengiris umbi masih menggunakan alat tradisional, sehingga hasil produksi masih rendah meskipun pangsa pasar masih sangat terbuka. Melalui program pengabdian ini dilakukan perbaikkan/pembuatan peralatan produksi yaitu alat pemotong/pengiris umbi sehingga diharapkan jumlah produksi akan meningkat dan pada akhirnya dapat meningkatkan kesejahteraan masyarakat.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Electroplating is a metal or non-metal coating process with electrolyze that use direct current (DC) and electrolyte (chemical solution) that has a function as medium to supply metal ions. The function of electroplating are protecting metal from corrotion attack, adding surface hardness and improving quality of metal surface. Electroplating process basically has four steps; cleaning, washing, coating and protecting. For a quality result, the coating process need a right and optimum condition of operation, such as, a right concentration of electrolyte, a right voltage or current, and a right temperature.

Abstract

Indonesia is an archipelago that is known as a maritime nation. Indonesia is rich in marine resources of fishery subsector. The majority of Indonesia's population are their livelihood as fishermen, especially in coastal areas. Bugbug village located in East Bali which is a coastal area that some community livelihood as fishermen. There are more than four groups of fishermen in this village, one of which is a fishermen group of Amerta Segara. The education level of their members are from elementary, middle and high school are dominated by primary school education. The number of members amounted to 25 persons. The encountered often problems on the fishermen is the fish handling a problem. When the harvest that the fish marketing become not good, the price is very cheap and fishermen's income decreases or not the maximum. Lack of knowledge about the fish processing cause fishermen's group is overwhelmed and being resigned on the situation. Seeing this condition, with our dedicated of team doing technical guidance on the fish processing technology to fishermen group of Amerta Segara on the Bugbug village, Karangasem District, Bali Province. The method is used the counseling and evaluation before and after counseling. The results obtained, that the community of the fishing groups of Amerta Segara very seriosly to listen the counseling and an increase in knowledge or understanding on the technologies presented.

Abstract

Screening is ordinary process airport passanger was machine baggage. X-ray radiation gives impact to eye because eye sensitive of radiation. Many kinds of eye strain symptom got by screening worker such eye poignant. It is neressary to give intervention to decrease the radiation exposure and eye strain for worker by increasing lead shielding on the fluoroscopy machine baggage and setting of worker distance toward the source of radiation. Experimental research with pre-post test control group design. A sampel of 30 people were taken with a simple randomized method which was subdivided into group 1 as a control group without the additional treatment of lead shielding and working distance regulation of the radiation source, group 2 with the addition of a shielding and setting distance as far as 2 m. the study was conducted in August 2017. The variables evaluated were exposure to the received radiation of workes and the strain of the workers eyes. The result of the research is a combination of lead shielding on machine baggage fluoroscopy and setting of working distance to X ray source at X International Ariport significantly (p<0,05) in decreasing radiation exposure received by worker equal to 74,59% and worker eye strain 68,85% for a distance of 1,5 m and decreased radiation exposure to the workers as much as 93, 69% and the eye strain on the worker 89,79% at a distance of 2 m from the radiation source. Concluded that the combination of increasing lead shielding and the setting of worker distance toward the source of radiation decrease thr radiation exposure and eye strain on the screening worker at X International airport.

Abstract

Industri adonan (luluh) sate di Desa Kaba-kaba merupakan industri skala kecil dalam bentuk industri rumah tangga di pedesaan. Saat ini kinerja para pembuat luluh sate relatif masih rendah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menurunkan beban fisiologis dilihat dari beban kerja, keluhan muskuloskeletal, kelelahan dan meningkatkan produktivitas kerja pada pekerja industri adonan (luluh) sate di Desa Kaba-kaba Kediri Tabanan. Penelitian ini merupakan jenis penelitian eksperimental dengan rancangan randomized pre and post test control group design dan melibatkan 24 sampel penelitian yang dipilih secara acak sederhana. Sampel dibagi menjadi 2 kelompok yaitu kelopok kontrol adalah menggunakan alat pemarut kelapa lama dan kelompok perlakuan adalah redesain alat pemarut kelapa. Beban kerja ditentukan berdasarkan peningkatan denyut nadi kerja dihitung secara palpasi dengan metode sepuluh denyut, kelelahan didata dengan kuesioner 30 item of rating scale, keluhan muskuloskeletal didata dengan kuesioner Nordic body map, dan produktivitas didata dari jumlah parutan kelapa persatuan waktu. Analisis data menggunakan uji statistik t-independent test dengan taraf signifikansi 5%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya perbedaan bermakna (p<0,05) pengurangan beban fisiologis dan peningkatan produktivitas kerja pembuat adonan (luluh) sate. Redesain alat pemarut kelapa ternyata menurunkan beban kerja sebesar 18,14%, keluhan muskuloskeletal sebesar 28,07%, kelelahan sebesar 25,98%, dan meningkatkan produktivitas kerja sebesar 62,39%. Disimpulkan bahwa penerapan ergonomi berupa redesain alat pemarut kelapa menurunkan beban fisiologis dan meningkatkan produktivitas kerja pada pekerja industri adonan (luluh) sate di Desa Kaba-kaba Kediri Tabanan.

Abstract

The activity of traditional dodol stirrer workers is done with standing position. The stirring process is done monotonically and over a long period of 5 hours. This study aims to show that workplace stretching exercise administration and modification of working conditions may decrease musculoskeletal and fatigue complaintas in traditional dodol stirrer workers. The stirring tool (siut) used by the worker does not correspond to anthropomethry, causing a work with a bent position. This study was an experimental study, with the same subject design. Period I subjects were treated with conventional working condition. Period II subjects were treated with workplace stretching exercise administration and improved working conditions in the form of re-design the stirring tool(siut) of the dodol stirrer and active rest. Musculoskeletal complaints were measured by Nordic body map questionnaires on a 4 likert scale, working fatigue using 30 item rating scales. Analysis of the collected data is started with the descriptive analysis and the normality data tested using Shapiro-Wilk. Further, the data that has normal distribution are analyzed using t-paired and the data that has not a normal distribution are analyzed using Wilcoxon test. This study indicated that the administration of workplace stretching exercise and modification of working conditions can decreasing musculoskeletal decline of 18.3 % from the mean 12.67±0.50 to 5.59±0.52 and fatigue decreased by 18.5% from the mean 12.42±1.45 to 5.34±0.66 It can be concluded that the provision of workplace stretching exercise and modification of working condition can decrease musculoskeletal complaintas and fatigue of dodol stirrer workers. So it is advisable for the dodol making industry to applied this technique of exercise to minimize complaints due to the working process of stirring dodol.

Abstract

Proximate as an initial analysis to detect the percentage of volatile compounds in citronella as an antioxidant and citronella waste can be made activated charcoal to purify waste such as used cooking oil. The purpose of this study was to compare the volatile compounds contained in citronella powder and charcoal. The analytical method used is Proximate Analysis. The lemongrass powder was put in an oven at 500oC for 24 hours to get charcoal. The test results showed that there was a decrease in the content of volatile compounds after making citronella charcoal by 46.88% in wet conditions and 61.02% in dry conditions. However, after citronella was added to virgin coconut oil (VCO) 10% w/w increased the volatile percentage to 100% for charcoal and 99.98% for powder with 0.9% moisture in both citronella.

Abstract

Increasing engine performances using electrical ignition system on motor vehicle. In accordance with the development oftechnology, improvisation of automotive is created in order to increase the performance of engine. The method to increase thisperformance has been done by modify the ignition system, where the conventional method of ignition system which uses contactbreaker substituted by using capacitor. The improvisation of ignition system has been tested by increasing the speed and load onstationary condition. Results show that the improvisation of ignition system by using capacitor increases the effective power andreduce the specific fuel consumption of engine and reduce the gas emission of CO.
