Abstract

The difficulties in learning the Lampung Pepadun Classical Guitar practice are caused by several factors, including; 1) the learning process is not guided directly by trainers who are experts in their fields; 2) many students of the Music Education study program are not yet able to read block notation in the form of songs; 3) some students do not have the skills to play guitar with the correct technique. The long-term goal in learning Lampung Pepadun Classical Guitar is that students are able to become agents of change in preserving the art of Lampung Pepadun Classical Guitar and become pioneers in developing and creating music, both contemporary music and creative music. The specific target to be achieved in this research is the creation of a new teaching pattern in the field of Lampung traditional music, namely learning by using several applications and distance learning methods in accordance with the concept of learning. Several online learning methods have been applied using various applications such as Youtube, MP3, and Sibelius. Online learning is learning that is carried out without face to face directly, using smartphone/gadget/laptop devices, and video conferencing platforms as a space for the learning process to take place. However, the seven learning components which include teachers/lecturers, students, objectives, materials, methods, media, and evaluation must remain an integral component of online learning, which will be integrated in achieving learning objectives

Abstract

Objective: This study aims to examine TikTok’s role as a catalyst in shaping music trends through its algorithms and popularity dynamics. Method: A content analysis was conducted on 35 TikTok audio and video clips that went viral in 2024-2025 to understand the relationship between music, algorithms, and digital popular culture. Results and Discussion: The findings reveal that the popularity of music on TikTok is not solely dependent on its artistic value but also on how users package the song within the context of digital culture, such as dance challenges, memes, and remixes. TikTok’s algorithm facilitates rapid music dissemination, leveraging social dynamics and advanced algorithmic strategies. Conclusion: TikTok functions not only as a music distribution platform but also as a cultural agent that shapes music preferences and accelerates the viral cycles of songs within the contemporary music industry. This study contributes to the field of music and digital media by highlighting how platform algorithms can shape cultural preferences and the broader dynamics of the music industry.

Abstract

This community service research aims to describe the implementation process and analyze the impact of practical vocal technique training on improving the singing abilities of elementary school-aged children. The community service method employed a practical training approach, direct learning, and intensive group vocal exercises over eight weeks (one meeting per week). The participants were 50 elementary school-aged children selected based on their interest in vocal training. Data were collected through affective attitude observations and practical tests (pretest and posttest) using a vocal assessment rubric. The community service results showed an improvement in the children's basic vocal skills, as evidenced by an increase in the average score from 64.73 (pretest) (inadequate) to 71.52 (posttest). The most significant psychomotor transformation was seen in the clarity of articulation, supported by increased self-confidence and mastery of diaphragmatic breathing techniques through demonstration and drill methods. However, improvements in intonation have not shown significant improvement because pitch accuracy requires a process of habituation and longer training duration to build vocal cord muscle memory.
