Abstract

Mahasiswa Kesehatan khususnya Farmasi di Jayapura yang menjadi mitra PKM ini rata-rata membuat gambar struktur kimia dan hasil lab baik di laporan dan tugas akhir kurang maksimal. Sehingga tujuan dari PKM ini adalah memberikan pelatihan terkait penyajian gambar struktur kimia dengan program Chemsketch dan gambar hasil penelitian yang baik dan tepat dengan teknik fotografi. Metode yang digunakan dalam pengabdian ini yaitu pelatihan secara luring (menggambar struktur kimia) dan pelatihan secara daring teknik foto yang tepat) menggunakan instrumen berupa angket pre-test, edukasi, dan post-test. Sebelum kegiatan dilaksanakan, kuesioner diuji validasi dan reliabilitasnya terlebih dahulu. Hasil kegiatan menyatakan bahwa terjadi perubahan tingkat pengetahuan mahasiswa tentang penyajian gambar baik struktur kimia dan gambar umum lainnya setelah mengikuti kegiatan. Tingkat pengetahuan mereka dalam menggambar struktur kimia meningkat dan mencapai nilai persentase 86% (kategori sangat baik) penguasaan materi dan menyajikan gambar hasil penelitian sebesar 91% (kategori sangat baik). Pada akhir kegiatan, pengetahuan kemampuan mahasiswa dalam menggambar struktur kimia 86% dan gambar hasil penelitian 95% berada pada kategori sangat baik. Kesimpulan dari kegiatan ini adalah peserta mendapatkan kemanfaatan dari PKM ini dan akhirnya mahir dalam menggambar struktur kimia dan mahir dalam teknik fotografi dasar

Abstract

While UV light has benefits for life, excessive exposure to UV light also has negative effects on humans. Examples of the negative effects of UV exposure include cancer. Therefore, the exploration for materials that can be used as anti-UV continues to grow. One of them is extract from Leucaena leucocephala leaves. To study the potential of a compound as anti-UV, one method can use a molecular modeling approach using the semi-empirical method. Based on this, 8 flavone-derived compounds contained in L. leucocephala leaf extract were modeled with a semi-empirical approach using the PM3 method, and electronic-transition was calculated using ZINDO/S. The geometry optimization results showed that the bond length between carbon atoms in flavonoid tururnans did not change significantly with the difference in functional groups. However, there is a significant difference in the dihedral angle of the compound due to the repulsion of functional groups. The results of the electronic transition calculation showed that all flavonoid derivatives 1-8 are active in the UV A, UV B, and UV C regions. So it can be said that flavones 1-8 have potential as anti-UV. In addition, the energy level of HOMO-LUMO compounds was also calculated. Abstract

Air adalah sumber daya alam yang dibutuhkan untuk kelangsungan metabolisme manusia dan semua makhluk hidup. Keberadaan polutan dalam air, seperti zat warna dari industri tekstil telah menjadi masalah serius yang mengancam lingkungan dan kesehatan manusia. Pentingnya menjaga keberlanjutan sumber daya alam, terutama air, telah memicu penelitian dalam mengatasi pencemaran air oleh polutan seperti zat warna dari industri tekstil. Dalam konteks ini, teknologi enzim terinkorporasi dalam membran muncul sebagai solusi inovatif. Membran enzim menggabungkan efisiensi teknologi membran dalam pemisahan molekul mikro dengan kemampuan enzim mengoksidasi senyawa organik kompleks, termasuk zat warna. Lakase, sebuah enzim multitembaga yang umumnya ditemukan pada tumbuhan, serangga, dan jamur, telah digunakan untuk mengurai zat warna sulit dihilangkan. Penggunaan membran terinkorporasi dengan enzim lakase telah membawa terobosan signifikan dalam sistem filtrasi air. Lakase tidak hanya efisien dalam memisahkan zat warna, tetapi juga ramah lingkungan karena menggunakan reaksi biokimia alami tanpa bahan kimia tambahan yang merusak ekosistem air.

Abstract

Water is essential for human life, yet several regions in Central Kalimantan face difficulties in accessing clean water and rely on peat water for daily needs. Peat water is generally unsuitable for drinking and sanitation purposes due to its poor quality. Its usage can lead to various health issues, such as digestive disorders skin diseases, tooth damage, and severe risks of heavy metal poisoning. One effective method to improve the quality of peat water is electrocoagulation. This study aims to investigate the effect of electrode variations using Al and Fe in treating peat water. Peat water samples were collected from Sebangau District, Palangka Raya, Central Kalimantan, in June 2024. The study analyzed water quality parameters, including TDS, pH, turbidity, color, COD, and dissolved Fe. The results showed that electrocoagulation increased pH to near-neutral levels and reduced turbidity, color, COD, and dissolved Fe, except for the Fe-Fe electrode combination, which caused an increase in TDS, color, and dissolved Fe. The Al-Al electrode combination proved to be the most effective in improving peat water quality.

Abstract

Methylene blue in the environment can disrupt the ecosystem because it does not decompose easily. Therefore, this research aims to oxidize methylene blue using an electrochemical oxidation method. The electrochemical oxidation of methylene blue was successfully carried out using carbon electrodes from battery waste. The influence of pH value and electrolysis time was successfully investigated using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer, and the decreased absorbance (DA(%)) was also analyzed. Based on the results, the optimum pH for electrochemical oxidation with a carbon electrode is at pH 1. It was possible to reduce the absorbance at this pH with a decreased absorbance of 56%. There was a decrease in absorption in the UV and visible regions. The optimum time for methylene blue electrochemical oxidation was 15 minutes, with a decreased absorbance percentage at 100%. The electrochemical oxidation method is simple and easy to use. This finding can be an excellent and effective wastewater treatment method.

Abstract

Background: Pemanfaatan Tanaman Obat Keluarga (TOGA) sebagai bahan baku jamu tradisional berpotensi meningkatkan derajat kesehatan sekaligus membuka peluang ekonomi bagi masyarakat desa. Namun, keterbatasan pengetahuan dan keterampilan ibu-ibu PKK di Desa Bahu Palawa dalam mengolah TOGA menyebabkan pemanfaatannya belum optimal. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan meningkatkan kemampuan peserta dalam memproduksi jamu serbuk jahe dan berbagai variasi wedang seduh berbasis kearifan lokal. Metode: Program dilaksanakan melalui tahapan sosialisasi, pelatihan, praktik demonstrasi, serta evaluasi pengetahuan dengan pre-test dan post-test, dilengkapi dengan uji organoleptik produk. Peserta dilatih mulai dari persiapan bahan, teknik pengeringan menggunakan oven dryer, formulasi komposisi bahan, hingga pengemasan produk akhir. Hasil: Evaluasi menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan pemahaman peserta, dengan nilai rata-rata pre-test 32,3% meningkat menjadi 91,0% pada post-test. Uji organoleptik juga memperlihatkan penerimaan yang tinggi, di mana 80–90% responden menyatakan suka hingga sangat suka terhadap warna, rasa, dan aroma produk jamu yang dihasilkan. Produk utama berupa jamu serbuk jahe, wedang hangat menyegarkan, wedang rempah pahit manis, dan wedang siru biru dinilai memiliki manfaat kesehatan yang relevan, seperti menjaga daya tahan tubuh, membantu pencernaan, dan mendukung kesehatan jantung. Kesimpulan: Kegiatan ini berhasil meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan ibu-ibu PKK dalam mengolah TOGA menjadi produk herbal bernilai tambah. Selain berkontribusi pada kemandirian kesehatan keluarga, program ini juga membuka peluang usaha desa berbasis kearifan lokal yang berkelanjutan.

Abstract

The increasing demand for natural UV-protective agents has led to the exploration of plant-based bioactive compounds. Yellow root (Arcangelisia flava) extract is traditionally used in medicine and contains flavonoids, alkaloids, and terpenoids with potential photoprotective properties. This study aimed to characterize the chemical composition of A. flava extract and evaluate its UV-absorbing properties using UV-Vis and FTIR spectroscopy. The extract was obtained through maceration with ethanol, followed by spectroscopic analysis. The UV-Vis spectrum (200–400 nm) revealed multiple absorption peaks, particularly at 270 nm, 292 nm, 306 nm, 340 nm, 354 nm, 360 nm, and 396 nm, indicating the presence of UV-absorbing compounds. FTIR analysis confirmed the presence of hydroxyl (-OH), carbonyl (C=O), and aromatic (C=C) functional groups, which are characteristic of flavonoids and other bioactive compounds. These findings suggest that A. flava extract has potential as a natural UV-protective agent. Further studies on compound isolation, fractionation, and photostability assessments are required to optimize its purity and effectiveness in sunscreen formulations.

Abstract

An analysis of drinking water quality, including physical parameters such as TDS (Total Dissolved Solids), color, odor, and taste, as well as chemical parameters such as pH and lead ion content in refillable drinking water depots in Palangka Raya City, has been conducted. Drinking water requirements must comply with the Regulation of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia Number 2 of 2023 concerning the Implementation of Government Regulation Number 66 of 2014 regarding Environmental Health. The method throughout this investigation is laboratory experiment. Samples of refillable drinking water were obtained using a random sampling method at 9 different locations in Jekan Raya District. Based on the analysis of physical parameters including TDS, color, odor, and taste, the drinking water sample still meets drinking water quality standards. The results of pH measurements at 7 out of 9 sampling points showed that the pH values of 6.5-8.5 did not meet the quality standards. Analysis of lead (Pb) levels based on AAS showed that the Pb content in 9 samples was below the maximum permissible standard of 0.01 mg/L.
