Abstract

The purpose of the study was to determine the effect of premix level in complete feed based on fermented rumen content waste on the physiological status of Balinese cattle. The livestock used is 4 Balinese cows, aged 1-1.5 years with a weight range of 69 kg - 74 kg. The experimental method used was the Latin Square Design (RBSL) with 4 treatments and 4 periods as a repeat. The treatment in this study: P0: complete feed without premix (control); P1: complete feed +0.50% premix; P2: complete feed +1% premix ; P3: complete feed +1.5% premix. The data obtained was analyzed using analysis (ANOVA). Based on the results of the study, the average rectal temperature P0: 153.71±38.420C, P1: 153.80±38.450C, P2: 153.49±38.370C, P3: 153.32±38.330C, heart rate times/minute P0: 331.00±82.75; P1: 331.00±82.75; P2: 327.00±81.75; P3: 328.00±82.4, and respiratory rate per second±minute, P0: 84.0021.00; P1: 81.00±20.25; P2: 83.00±20.75; P3: 82.00±20.5. The results of the analysis Statistics showed that the treatment had no real effect (P>0.05) on rectal temperature, heart rate and respiratory rate of Balinese cows. It was concluded that the application of premix levels of up to 1.5% in complete feed containing fermented rumen content waste did not have a negative impact on the physiological status of Balinese cattle because it was in the normal range.

Abstract

This research aimed to determine the best level of sun-dried carrot extract (SDCE) in the spermax-egg yolk (EY-S) diluent for preserving the sperm of duroc boars. Semen was collected from two 2-year-old healthy duroc boars. The study employed an experimental method with a completely randomized design (CRD), consisting of five treatments and five replicates. The five treatments were T1 = EY-S + SDCE 10%, T2 = EY-S + SDCE 12.5%, T3 = EY-S + SDCE 15%, T4 = EY-S + SDCE 17.5%, T5 = EY-S + SDCE 20%. Semen, which was diluted with the treatment diluent, was stored in a cool box at a temperature of 18-20°C and observed every 12 hours until sperm motility reached 40%. The results indicated that treatment P5 was able to maintain the quality of liquid boar semen better than the other treatments (P<0.05) with sperm motility (46.00%), sperm viability (51.92%), sperm abnormality (4.90%), and sperm survival (66.33 hours). It was concluded that a 20% level of sun-dried carrot extract in spermax-egg yolk diluent can preserve motility for up to 60 hours of storage. This study demonstrates that dried carrot extract can enhance the quality and storage capacity of spermatozoa, making it an effective alternative in storage media. This is beneficial in animal reproduction, particularly in artificial insemination, where sperm motility is crucial for fertilization. Furthermore, this research opens up opportunities to explore other natural substances in sperm diluents, reducing reliance on synthetic chemicals and improving the sustainability of reproductive practices.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of substitution of ground corn with banana peel flour brewed in concentrated feed and Zn Biocomplex on the linear body size of male fattening Bali cattle. The livestock used in this study were 12 male Bali cattle aged between 2-2.5 years with a body weight range of 130.5-173.5 kg. This study used a completely randomized design with 4 treatments and 3 replications, namely P0: Concentrate feed without substitution (Control) + 65 mg Zn biocomplex, P1: Concentrate feed (substitute ground corn in concentrate with KPF 25%) + 65 mg Zn biocomplex, P2: Concentrate feed (substitute ground corn in concentrate with 50% KPF) + 65mg Zn biocomplex, P3 : Concentrate feed (substitute ground corn in concentrate with 75% KPF) + 65mg Zn biocomplex. The parameter studied is the linear size of the body. The results of the statistical analysis showed that the treatment had no significant effect (P>0.05) on the body size of fattening male Bali cattle. It was concluded based on the findings and analysis, feed concentrates including fermented banana peel flour in varying amounts and with the addition of Zn biocomplex had the same effect on the linear body size of fattening Bali bulls during the treatment.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Background: The research material used was fresh semen of 2-year-old landrace boars of good quality (spermatozoa motility ≥ 70% and spermatozoa abnormality < 20%) Purpose: This study aimed to find the best combination of young coconut water (YCW) and Tris to improve the quality of landrace boars spermatozoa. Method: %). This study used an experimental method according to a complete randomized design procedure with five treatments and five replicates. The treatments were: T0= YCW, T1= TCW 75% + tris 25%, T2= YCW 50% + tris 50%, T3= YCW 25% + tris 75%, T4= Tris. All treatment diluents were added with 20% egg yolk, 3% moringa leaf extract, 1,000 IU/mL penicillin, and 1,000 µg/mL streptomycin. The variables tested were motility, viability, abnormality, and survival. Results: The observation results at the 40th hour of storage showed that treatment T3 was significantly different (P<0.05) on motility, viability, abnormality and survival but on the variable viability treatment T3 was insignificantly different from T1 (p>0.05), but significantly different from treatment T0, T2, and T4; and for spermatozoa abnormality variables in all treatments were the same (p>0.05) Conclusion: It was concluded that the combination of YCW 75% and tris 25% and 100% tris effectively maintained the quality of landrace boars spermatozoa

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui efek kombinasi gliserol dan fruktosa dalam pengencer sitrat kuning telur (S-KT) terhadap kualitas semen cair babi Landrace. Penelitian ini adalah eksperimental menggun rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) yang terdiri dari lima perlakuan dan lima ulangan. Adapun perlakuan yang dimaksud adalah S-KT (P0), S-KT+gliserol 2%+fruktosa 1,0% (P1), S-KT+gliserol 2%+fruktosa 1,5% (P2), S–KT+gliserol 3%+fruktosa 1,0% (P3), S-KT+gliserol 3%+fruktosa 1,5% (P4). Semen yang telah di encerkan ini  disimpan pada suhu 18-20º C untuk evaluasi terhadap motilitas, viabilitas, abnormalitas dan daya tahan hidup spermatozoa dilakukan setiap 12 jam penyimpanan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan perlakuan P4 dengan kombinasi S-KT+3% gliserol+1,5% fruktosa pada penyimpanan jam ke 48 memberikan hasil terbaik (P<0,05) dibandingkan perlakuan lainnya, dengan nilai motilitas (43±2,74%), viabilitas (47,60±2,07%), abnormalitas (6,40±0,89%) dan daya tahan hidup sebesar (51,60±3,29 jam). Disimpulkan bah a kombinasi gliserol 3% dan fruktosa 1,5% dalam pengencer sitrat kuning telur mampu mempertahankan motilitas, viablitas dan abnormalitas dengan baik.   Kata kunci: Fruktosa, gliserol, kualitas semen cair babi Landrace, sitrat-kuning telur

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pengaruh penambahan sari daun papaya (SDP) ke dalam pengencer Tris-kuning Telur (T-KT) terhadap kualitas semen babi persilangan landrace dan duroc. Materi yang digunakan adalah semen segar dari babi jantan persilangan landrace dan duroc berumur 1,5 tahun dengan kondisi sehat dan terlatih untuk penampungan semen. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimental dengan rancangan acak lengkap yang terdiri atas enam perlakuan dan lima ulangan, yaitu: T-KT (P0), SDP, (P1) T-KT+0,5% SDP, (P2) T-KT+1% SDP, (P3), T-KT+1,5% SDP (P4), T-KT+2% SDP, dan (P5) TKT+2,5% SDP. Semua perlakuan disimpan dalam coolbox pada suhu 15–20ºC. Variabel yang dilihat adalah motilitas, viabilitas, abnormalitas, dan daya tahan hidup spermatozoa. Evaluasi dilakukan setiap 12 jam. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan P5 (penambahan SDP 2,5%) pada penyimpanan selama 36 jam memberikan hasil terbaik (P<0,05) dibandingkan dengan perlakuan lainnya, dengan nilai motilitas 44,00±2,23% viabilitas 51,90±2,63%, abnormalitas 5,50±0,70%, dan daya tahan hidup selama 45,60 jam. Disimpulkan bahwa penambahan 2,5% SDP dalam pengencer Tris-kuning telur menghasilkan kualitas semen cair babi persilangan yang lebih baik dibandingkan perlakuan lainnya.
