Abstract

This study aims to determine the interaction effect of democracy and economic freedom on corruption in ASEAN, 2012-2021. The tool analysis used in this study is typology analysis to determine the position of each ASEAN country based on the level of Corruption, democracy, and economic freedom, and it was amplified by panel data regression with a fixed effect. Typology analysis shows that the higher the level of democracy and economic freedom, the better the Corruption Perception Index (CPI). Regression analysis also shows that when a country possesses economic freedom level below 6.25, then democracy has a negative effect on corruption. Likewise, when the level of democracy of a country is below 4.4 then a change of economic freedom will reduce the CPI instead. This corresponds to the typology analysis in which Malaysia and Singapore have levels of democracy and economic freedom over 4.4 and 6.25—on average—during 2012-2021.

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

The debate on economic growth as a trigger or solution to environmental damage is the driving force behind this research. This study examines whether there is an advanced stage of the Environmental Kuznets Curve (EKC) that forms a curve resembling the letter N in Java province, Indonesia. This study used a panel data regression model with the main variableof CO2 emissions and GDP per capita. This research demonstrated that, in the short term, per capita income growth caused damage to the environment. However, this relationship was different in the long run and eventually formed an N-shaped curve. The existence of an N-shaped EKC was detected, but not significant.  The relationship between population growth rates, income inequality and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) with CO2 emissions as well as EKC turning points were also investigated in this study. The study results included N-shaped EKC detected in Java with the first turning point of Rp 154,297,936 and the second turning point of Rp 1,136,629,791. Population growth rate was proven not to affect CO2 emissions, in contrast to income inequality and the SDGs agreement which affected emissions in Java. Raising public awareness, paying attention to energy use, initiating technological innovations, and enforcing pro-environment policies are recommended to be implemented in Java and across Indonesia.JEL Classification:  Q01; Q11; R11

Abstract

Covid-19 hampered most businesses and caused a banking crisis that triggered uncertainty so that economic growth declined. Banks can dampen these economic shocks by providing much-needed funding for companies, especially those affected by Covid-19. The bank can obtain these funds by selling stocks to the public. However, some factors affect stock prices, such as exchange rates, exports, and unexpected conditions such as Covid-19. Based on existing research, stock prices in general after Covid-19 have fallen drastically. Therefore, it is hoped that this research can help the Indonesian government control exchange rates and exports so that the price of banking stocks does not experience a drastic decline when unexpected situations such as Covid-19 occur. This study uses a panel data analysis technique. The results of this study are that the exchange rate and exports have a significant effect on stock prices, but conditions before and after Covid-19 have no significant effect on stock prices. It is expected that investors and the government can consider the factors that affect stock prices.

Abstract

In analyzing economic phenomena that occur in the midst of society, economists always use assumptions. Rationality is the most important assumption and becomes the main step in analyzing the phenomenon. Individuals in making decisions are assumed to be rational. Problems arise when rational human measurements for the economy of the classical generation are selfish and tend to be selfish. This article discusses how the assumption of rationality is debated among the three major streams of economics today. The three streams referred to are Classical-Neoclassical Economist, Behavioral Economist, and Islamic Economist. Neoclassical-Economist with the assumption that rational individuals are individuals who are concerned with personal desires, Economists of Behavior with the theory of Bounded-Rationality, and Islamic Economists with the argument that the main goal of humans is God.

Abstract

Trajeng Hamlet has 2 schools, 1 orphanage, and 1 Quranic Learning Center (TPQ), namely MI Al Hasib Pakis, TK Muslimat NU 8 Asshofiyah, Nurul Hadi Orphanage, and TPQ Al-Azhar. Observations reveal that the hamlet lacks traffic signs, which are crucial for road safety. The absence of traffic signs poses significant risks to road users, especially in a community with schools and children actively commuting. This work program focuses on addressing this issue by providing traffic signs as essential road infrastructure. The program is implemented through several stages: observation, problem identification, permit acquisition, and execution. These steps ensure that the planned facilities are properly integrated into the hamlet's road network and meet community needs. Beyond implementation, continuous education is necessary. Village authorities are encouraged to conduct regular awareness programs for residents about the importance of traffic signs and their meanings. Such programs can foster better understanding and adherence to traffic regulations. Additionally, educating parents and guardians to prevent underage driving is vital in enhancing safety.
