Abstract

Background: The health of early childhood is significantly influenced by the environment in which they grow and learn, including the physical environment of playgroups. An unhealthy environment can increase the risk of health problems such as respiratory infections, diarrhea, and skin disorders. This study aims to analyze the influence of the physical environment quality in playgroups on the health status of young children. Methods: This research employed a quantitative design with a descriptive correlational approach. A total of 32 children and their learning environments were selected using total sampling from KB Ar Rosyada, Lawang Wetan District, Banyuasin Regency. Data were collected through observations and interviews using physical environment assessment instruments and health status records of the children. Bivariate analysis was performed using the Spearman correlation test. Results: Most components of the physical environment were categorized as good, particularly ventilation (62.5%), cleanliness (65.6%), and sanitation (59.4%). A total of 62.5% of the children were found to be in good health without complaints. The analysis revealed a significant relationship between ventilation quality (p = 0.003), cleanliness (p = 0.002), and sanitation (p = 0.005) with the children’s health status. Lighting (p = 0.021) and temperature-humidity (p = 0.034) also showed significant associations, although with weaker correlations. Conclusion: Good physical environment quality has a significant influence on the health of early childhood. Improving and maintaining the physical environment of playgroups is crucial as a promotive and preventive strategy to enhance child health outcomes.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the children’s service program at the Archives and Library Office of West Sumatra Province. The research employed a descriptive quantitative approach using an assessment instrument covering various service indicators. The findings indicate that, overall, the children’s service program falls within the “fair” category, with an average score of 3.01. The facility and environment indicator shows that the service space is comfortable and safe but has yet to fully support an engaging and enjoyable learning atmosphere. The reading material collection is relatively diverse in terms of genres and age levels, but still lacks sufficient educational multimedia resources. In terms of programs and activities, initiatives such as storytelling sessions, reading competitions, and creative workshops have been implemented, though not consistently or systematically. Service delivery and staff competence were also rated as fair, with library staff considered friendly and communicative, although further improvement is needed in understanding child development needs. Access to information and parental involvement is relatively good, particularly through direct communication with library staff, yet the use of social media as an information platform remains underutilized. Lastly, the program’s target accuracy indicator shows that services are fairly aligned with children’s interests and needs, though continuous evaluation and program adjustments are necessary to ensure greater relevance and impact. These findings highlight the need to strengthen various aspects to enhance the overall quality of children’s services.

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

This study examines students' acceptance of Google Scholar as a medium for searching scientific literature using the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) approach. This study is quantitative and involves students at Padang State University, specifically Library and Information Science students from the 2021 cohort who use Google Scholar in the process of writing their theses. Data were collected from 74 participants selected using the Slovin formula. The questionnaire was designed based on the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) theory. The primary focus of the study was on two dimensions within TAM: Perceived Usefulness (perceived benefits) and Perceived Ease of Use (perceived ease of use). The research results indicate that the acceptance level of Google Scholar is very high, with an average usefulness score of 3.29 and an average ease of use score of 3.25, both falling into the “Very Good” category. The platform is considered most effective in helping students obtain academic information and facilitating literature searches. However, there are some aspects that still need improvement, such as its contribution to research productivity and the clarity of its interface. Overall, these findings indicate that Google Scholar has been able to meet students' expectations as a useful and easy-to-use tool. The balance between the two dimensions of TAM reflects the functional maturity of the platform in supporting academic research needs. This study also recommends institutional support through training in the use of Google Scholar and further research using a mixed-method approach to gain a deeper understanding.
