Background: Periodontal disease could mediate the systemic effect through the action of periodontal pathogens and lipopolisacharide that increase postaglandin and cytokine production, which will trigger the delivery of preterm low birth weight. Pregnant woman with periodontitis have significantly higher risk to deliver preterm low birth weight infants <37 weeks gestation period, and birth weight < 2500 gram. Periodontal therapy significantly reduces the rates of preterm low birth weight among women with periodontitis. Conclusions: It is concluded that periodontal disease as an independent risk factor for preterm low birth weight. Plaque control procedure during pregnancy should be considered to reduce the occurrence of preterm.

Background: Latest technological advances have led to a constant desire to develop new approaches for the treatment of periodontal diseases, as a diode laser. Objective: This article reviews the diode laser is a soft tissue laser having a wavelength of 810 nm or 910-980nm, is being developed for a variety of uses in periodontal therapy. The diode lasers have been used in initial periodontal therapy for sulcular debridement, soft tissue surgery, hypersensitive dentin, photodynamic therapy and also in implant treatment. Literatur review: The laser is a less-invasive method compared with the conventional technique because it produces little cell destruction. Diode lasers are used to overcome the disadvantages of conventional therapy, including postoperative pain dan discomfort, and suturing in conventional. Conclusion: Laser use is beneficial as it requires minimal anaesthesia, lesser surgical time and good post-operative healing, reduced post operative pain and sensitivity, reduced patient anxiety.

Background: Orthodontic Treatment aims to correct occlusion functional and aesthetics as well as achieving the health of supporting structure. Orthodontists frequently treat patients with periodontal problems both from aesthetic considerations as discrepancy gingival margin and functional considerations due to periodontal disease. Review: The relationship between orthodontics and periodontics is very important in establishing the diagnosis and treatment plan, and this relationship often resembles symbiosis. In many cases periodontal health can be improved with orthodontic movements, and orthodontic tooth movement is often facilitated by periodontal therapy. But on the other hand orthodontic treatment can also cause periodontal problems such as gingival inflammation, recession, bone dehiscence. Conclusion: This paper summarizes the literature to provide a basic understanding of interrelationship between periodontics and orthodontics for optimized treatment outcomes.

Background : Epulis is a tumor-like enlargement of the gingiva originating from periodontal connective tissue, which is caused by chronic irritation. Epulis that occurs on the upper anterior teeth will interfere with the aesthetics and function of the lips and reduce self-confidence, thus treatment is deemed necessary. Objective : To evaluate the results of fibromatous epulis treatment using electrosurgery. Case report and management : A 25 year old woman came to the practice with complaints of enlarged gums in the upper front area since 6 months ago. The gum was painful when biting food, and bleed easily during tooth cleaning and brushing. Epulis Fibromatosa treatment was initiated with plaque control, scaling and application metronidazole gel. One week later, the epulis was excised with electrosurgery under local anesthesia. In one week evaluation, the patient had no pain or swelling. Clinical examination showed no residual epulis, marginal gingiva 21 was slightly reddish, and the healing process was going well. The results of the pathology examination showed that the surface covered by stratified squamous epithelium, areas appear erosive and ulcerative, also known as chronic inflammation and no malignancy is found, therefore the diagnosis is Fibromatous Epulis. Patient was instructed to maintain oral health and avoid using toothpicks and are advised for orthodontic treatment. Conclusion : The treatment of Epulis Fibromatosa shows good results with electrosurgery

Background : Nowadays implants are becoming a crucial part of modern dentistry. The old “surgically driven approach’ has now evolved to a “prosthetically driven approach”. The accuracy to locate the implant fixture is determined by careful planning, evaluation, diagnostic aids and nonetheless operator experiences’ also play a big role in achieving the best possible outcome. Case report : a 22 years old woman wants implant placement on tooth 36 and 46 to restore the mastication function. Implant placements were done with 2 stages of surgery, and due to covid-19; the second stage was executed 1 year later. The final prosthesis outcome is not as ideal as planned earlier due to mesial shifting of tooth 37 and operator was not alerted when doing so. Conclusion : Evaluation and measurement of clinical condition throughout the whole treatment phases are playing an important part for achieving the best possible outcome in prosthetic driven approach implant.

Background: Currently, the development of lasers in the medical world of dentistry is very rapid. There are many treatments in dentistry that we can use with lasers, one of which is implants. An effective, practical, and safe laser method for treatment in and around implants that requires soft tissues to either expose the implant for the restorative phase or reshape the gingival margin for aesthetics is the Diode Laser. Case report: a woman wants to have an implant placed on tooth 26 so that she can chew well and the other teeth do not shift. The implant installation technique with 2 stages of surgery can only be done one year later due to the covid 19 pandemic. The gingival opening is done using laser diode for healing installation with a diameter of 5 mm and 5 mm in height. Installation of healing is done without suturing because the diode laser method is minimally invasive and gives a good healing result for the soft tissue Conclusion: The diode laser method is very effective and safe for soft tissue formation during implant treatment it is minimally invasive.

Background : Dental implant is one of the options to restore extracted tooth with fixed partial denture. This method of restoration is popular because of the ability of dental implant to replace the teeth without disturbing neighboring hard and soft tissues with very high long term survival rate. Dental implant procedure should be planned and executed with proper procedure to get an esthetic and functional restoration. This case report will discuss the treatment planning and procedure of placing of single unit implant placement on posterior tooth Case report : A 26-year-old woman came with complain of extracted lower right tooth 2 years ago and she wanted a fixed prosthesis to replace this tooth. Straumann BLT dental implant of diameter 4.1x Height 10mm is placed on this patient after treatment planning with radiograph image and study model analysis. Screw-cemented retained prosthesis was delivered on the implant to restore the function and esthetic of the missing 47 tooth. Conclusion : Planning and proper procedure during implant placement and restoration will lead to a good long-term esthetic and functional outcome.

Periodontitis is a chronic, multifactorial, inflammatory disease, associated with plaque biofilms and characterized by the progressive destruction of the tooth-supporting structures. Periodontal diseases can increase the inflammatory response in patients, which might exacerbate the systemic symptoms and clinical course of coronavirus (COVID-19). The potential association of periodontitis and COVID-19 severity can be explained by the alteration in the expression of cellular receptors enhancing the virulence of SARS-CoV-2 and by periodontal pockets acting as viral reservoirs. These associations between periodontitis and COVID could be due to the fact that both diseases share common immune pathways such as the NF-κB pathway, NLRP3/IL-1β pathway, and IL-6 signaling pathway as well as common risk factors such as gender, lifestyle, and comorbidities. This suggests that the two diseases may be linked through the same genetic pathway.
