Abstract

The aim of this research was to analyze the learning interest of junior high school students in learning mathematics. In this study, a qualitative research was used with a descriptive method whose population was students at MTs Daar Al-Ilmi. The sample used was 46 female students. The non-test instrument or questionnaire used in this study, with a total of 20 statement items which includes positive and negative statements. This instrument was created based on 4 indicators of students' interest in learning mathematics. The data analysis technique used in this research is to use the formula for the percentage of student answers which is then described using the criteria for interpreting the results of student answers. The results obtained from analyzing this study indicate that students' interest in learning is an indicator of feeling happy in participating in learning mathematics, having an interest in participating in each learning of mathematics, and having a disciplined attitude in learning mathematics which shows that most students have an interest in learning mathematics

Abstract

This research aims to explore the implementation of Ethnomathematics of Banten Mukarnas batik motifs in improving students' mathematical reasoning and creative thinking skills. Ethnomathematics was chosen to connect mathematical concepts with local culture so that students can see the relevance of mathematics in everyday life. The method used in this study is a quasy experiment with a Pretest-Postest Control Group Design. The sample was selected using random sampling technique. The data collection technique was carried out by providing test questions for students' mathematical creative thinking ability. The analysis was carried out quantitatively on the learning process and measuring students' creative thinking skills before and after the application of Ethnomathematics. From the results of the posttest data analysis of the experimental and control classes, the sig. (2-tailed) of 0.001 < 0.05 and an average of 89.42 in the experimental class, while in the control class, the average was 76.61. So, it can be concluded that there is a difference in the ability of students to think creatively and mathematically using the ethnomathematics-based learning model assisted by the Banten Mukarnas batik motif compared to students who obtain the conventional learning model

Abstract

The fundamental problem that causes this study is that the low mathematical reasoning ability of students and culture in Banten has not been explored optimally for classroom learning. This study aims to compare the mathematical reasoning ability of students who use ethnomathematics-based learning with conventional learning, as well as mathematical elements contained in Banten culture. The target is junior high school students with transformation materials. The approach used by the researcher is quantitative research. The research method used is a quasi-experiment with a pre-post control group design. The population in this study is grade IX students of SMP PGRI 1 Tangerang with a sample of 72 students. Researchers used independent sample t-tests to analyze the data. The results obtained by the researcher were the average post-test score of the experimental class of 72.56 and the control class of 54.11, which means that ethnomathematics-based learning is better than conventional learning in optimizing students' mathematical reasoning skills. Creativity is needed to find the elements of mathematics contained in Banten culture, and then it is necessary to conduct further research whether ethnomathematics-based learning can improve students' abilities other than reasoning.

Abstract

Perkembangan transformasi digital telah mendorong meningkatnya penggunaan Artificial Intelligence (AI) dalam dunia pendidikan, termasuk oleh pelajar sekolah menengah. Namun, pemanfaatan AI yang tidak disertai pemahaman yang tepat dapat menimbulkan berbagai risiko, seperti ketergantungan, penyalahgunaan untuk kepentingan akademik, dan rendahnya kesadaran terhadap keamanan data. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman pelajar mengenai penggunaan AI secara bijak, kritis, etis, dan bertanggung jawab. Kegiatan dilaksanakan di SMA Maflahul Ummah, Kota Cilegon, Provinsi Banten, dengan metode pelatihan partisipatif yang meliputi tahap persiapan, pelaksanaan, pendampingan praktik, dan evaluasi. Pelatihan diikuti oleh 20 peserta dan membahas konsep dasar AI, manfaat AI dalam pembelajaran, etika penggunaan, teknik prompting, serta keamanan data. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pemahaman siswa pada seluruh aspek yang diukur, yaitu definisi AI, etika penggunaan, teknik prompting, dan keamanan data. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa pelatihan penggunaan AI secara bijak dapat memperkuat literasi digital pelajar serta membantu membangun kesadaran akademik yang lebih kritis dan bertanggung jawab dalam menghadapi era transformasi digital.

Abstract

This study aimed to develop Google Sites–based mathematics learning media integrated with the Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) approach to support tenth-grade students’ mathematical problem-solving ability on the topic of exponents. The study was motivated by the need for adaptive and interactive learning media that can accommodate students’ different ability levels. This research employed a Research and Development (R&D) method using the 4D model, consisting of Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate stages. The participants were 30 tenth-grade students from one public senior high school in Banten, Indonesia, selected through purposive sampling for a limited trial. The developed media was evaluated based on validity, practicality, and effectiveness. Validity was assessed through media and material expert validation, practicality was measured using student response questionnaires, and effectiveness was determined based on learning mastery, improvement in problem-solving scores, paired-sample t-test, and N-Gain analysis. The results showed that the media obtained validation scores of 83% from both media and material experts, indicating that it was highly valid. Student responses reached 82.5%, indicating that the media was highly practical. The learning mastery level reached 81.6%, exceeding the predetermined effectiveness criterion of at least 80%. In addition, the average problem-solving score increased from 60% in the pre-test to 80% in the post-test, with a statistically significant difference between pre-test and post-test scores (p < 0.05). These findings suggest that Google Sites–based learning media integrated with the TaRL approach showed potential to support students’ mathematical problem-solving ability in the limited trial context. This study contributes to mathematics education by providing empirical evidence that integrating Google Sites with the Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) approach can serve as an adaptive digital learning solution that supports differentiated instruction and enhances students' mathematical problem-solving ability.

Abstract

Statistics learning at the junior high school level requires students to develop critical thinking ability and learning interest; however, in practice, both aspects remain relatively low due to the dominance of conventional instruction and the limited use of interactive learning media. This study aims to develop interactive learning media based on Articulate Storyline 3 and to examine its validity, practicality, and effectiveness in improving students’ critical thinking ability and learning interest in junior high school statistics. The study employs a Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE model, which consists of the analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation stages. The research subjects include 30 eighth-grade students divided into an experimental class and a control class. The research instruments comprise expert validation sheets, student response questionnaires, learning interest questionnaires, and critical thinking ability tests. The results indicate that the developed learning media demonstrate very high validity, excellent practicality, and effectiveness in enhancing students’ critical thinking ability and learning interest. Therefore, interactive learning media based on Articulate Storyline 3 are feasible as an innovative alternative for junior high school statistics learning. This study contributes to mathematics education by refining the integration of interactive digital media within statistics learning, offering an ADDIE-based development framework that informs future instructional design research while providing practical guidance for teachers in fostering student-centered learning and critical thinking.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the peer tutoring learning model assisted by Canva-based learning media on students' mathematical understanding and learning interest. The background of this study is based on the low mathematical understanding and learning interest of students at SMPN 14 Cilegon in mathematics learning, as well as the lack of variety of learning media used. This study uses a quantitative method with a quasi-experimental design of the nonequivalent pretest-posttest control group design. The subjects of the study were grade VII students of SMPN 14 Cilegon, with class VII C as the experimental class and class VII A as the control class. The research instruments included a mathematical understanding test and a student learning interest questionnaire. The results of the data analysis showed that, 1) the increase in mathematical understanding of students who were given learning with the peer tutoring model assisted by Canva-based learning media was better than those who used conventional learning, 2) the learning interest of students who were given learning with the peer tutoring model assisted by Canva-based learning media was better than those who used conventional learning. From the results of the N-Gain data analysis of the experimental and control classes, a sig. value was obtained. (2-tailed) 0.000 <0.05 and for the average learning interest of the questionnaire 83.07 high category in the experimental class, while in the control class obtained an average questionnaire of 71.67. So it can be concluded that there is an increase in mathematical understanding and learning interest of students who use peer tutor learning model assisted by Canva-based learning media better than students who use conventional learning. Thus, the peer tutor learning model assisted by Canva media is effective in improving mathematical understanding and learning interest of students of SMPN 14 Cilegon

Abstract

This study aims to determine the improvement of students' mathematical literacy skills given learning with a problem-based learning model assisted by Wordwall is better than those using conventional learning. This study uses a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design type Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. The research subjects consisted of 32 students of class VII D as the experimental class and 32 students of class VII B as the control class at SMP Negeri 16 Kota Serang. The instruments used were essay tests to measure mathematical literacy and Likert scale questionnaires to measure self-regulated learning. The results of the analysis showed that the average N-Gain of the experimental class was 66.51 and the control class was 38.81. The t-test showed a sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.000 < 0.05, indicating a significant difference between the two groups. The average score of the self-regulated learning questionnaire in the experimental class reached 80%. This study concluded that the use of the PBL model assisted by Wordwall is more effective in improving students' mathematical literacy and self-regulated learning compared to conventional learning.

Abstract

Social media use among school youth is increasing, but it is often used without adequate understanding of its educational and literary value. This situation gives rise to various problems such as the spread of false information, digital addiction, and low media literacy skills. This community service activity aims to improve the understanding and skills of school youth in utilizing social media positively as a means of education and digital literacy. Implementation methods include outreach, interactive training, group discussions, and mentoring in creating engaging and informative educational content on social media platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube. The results of the activity indicate an increase in participants' knowledge and awareness of the importance of digital literacy, internet ethics, and skills in creating useful content. The impact is evident in changes in adolescents' attitudes toward using social media wisely and productively to support learning and share positive information. In conclusion, appropriately directed use of social media can be an effective tool for improving literacy and education among school youth, while simultaneously developing a generation of intelligent, creative, and responsible young people in the digital era.

Abstract

Mathematical problem-solving skills are one of the key competencies students must possess in mathematics education. However, in reality, many students still struggle to solve mathematical problems, particularly those involving linear equations. In addition to cognitive factors, affective aspects—such as emotional regulation—also influence students’ success in the learning process. Therefore, there is a need for instructional innovations capable of enhancing mathematical problem-solving skills while simultaneously supporting students’ emotional regulation. This study aims to determine the effect of Desmos Classroom-assisted deep learning on students’ mathematical problem-solving skills and emotional regulation regarding linear equations. This study employed a quasi-experimental method using a Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The study population consisted of eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 3 Kalanganyar. The sample comprised an experimental class that received deep learning instruction supported by Desmos Classroom and a control class that received conventional instruction. The instruments used included a mathematical problem-solving ability test and a student emotional regulation questionnaire. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive and inferential statistics through hypothesis testing. The results indicate that deep learning instruction supported by Desmos Classroom has a positive effect on students’ mathematical problem-solving skills. This is evidenced by an increase in the students’ average score from 57.15 on the pretest to 71.63 on the posttest. The results of the hypothesis test also showed a significance value of 0.000, which is less than 0.05, indicating a statistically significant difference following the implementation of the instruction. In addition, students’ emotional regulation achieved an average percentage of 76.08%, which falls into the “very good” category. Thus, deep learning instruction supported by Desmos Classroom can serve as an effective alternative for improving students’ mathematical problem-solving skills while simultaneously supporting their emotional regulation when studying linear equations
