Abstract

This study aims to provide an overview of the role of mindfulness as a moderator in the relationship between interpersonal communication and marital satisfaction among husbands and wives married for over five years. Participants in this study were 188 husbands or wives who met the criteria of being married for over five years and living with their partners in the city of Bogor. Participants were selected using a purposive sampling technique. Each participant completed the Enrich Marital Satisfaction Scale (EMS), Five Facet Mindfulness Questionnaire (FFMQ), and interpersonal communication (IC) Scales. Using Hayes’ PROCESS Model 1 analysis technique, the study found that mindfulness significantly moderates the relationship between interpersonal communication and marital satisfaction, although its effect weakens this relationship.

Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the relationship between self-esteem and social conformity with self-efficacy posited as a potential mediator among emerging adults. As emerging adults, one of the critical developmental tasks is the consolidation of personal identity. In this identity formation process, which include significant influences from the environment, made emerging adults particularly prone to social conformity pressures. The quality of self-esteem and self-efficacy is presumed to directly impact the degree of social conformity observed in this population. Data collection was executed via a questionnaire employing convenience sampling, yielding responses from 320 undergraduate students at Bandung City. Mediation analysis using Hayes' Process Model 4 revealed a significant association between self-esteem and social conformity; however, no significant mediating effect of self-efficacy was found between self-esteem and social conformity. Notably, self-esteem was also found to be significantly correlated with self-efficacy. This finding shows that self-esteem has a great importance for emerging adults. This is due to its significant correlation to both social conformity and self-efficacy.

Abstract

Father involvement has a positive impact on children's cognitive, emotional and social development. However, the level of this involvement is low in the Asian context, particularly in Indonesia, where traditional gender roles often reduce paternal involvement. The role of fathers in children's development is increasingly recognized, but there remains a research gap in understanding how factors such as marital satisfaction and workplace flexibility jointly influence fathers' involvement. This research aims to determine the moderating role of workplace flexibility on the relationship between marital satisfaction and father involvement with surveyed fathers who work at Company"X", have children aged 1-21, live with their children and their wife. This research was conducted to 123 respondents. Measurement tools used in the research include the Father Involvement Inventory (IFI), the ENRICH Marital Satisfaction Scale, and the Workplace Flexibility Scale. Each measurement instrument has been tested for validity and reliability. The data analysis technique used is Moderation Process Analysis: Model 1 of Hayes (2013) using the SPSS Statistics program version 29. Based on the hypothesis testing results, there is a significant role of marital satisfaction on father involvement at 33%, but workplace flexibility does not moderate the relationship between marital satisfaction and father involvement. Demographic factors in this research also do not play a role in father involvement. These findings highlight the important role of marital satisfaction in promoting fathers' active participation, suggesting that improving marital relationships may be more effective than simply increasing workplace flexibility in encouraging fathers to become involved with their children. These results could also be interesting for exploring other factors likely to predict father involvement.

Abstract

Abstract

Postpartum women experience both physical and psychological changes. Previous studies have shown that women who delivered via caesarean section tend to have lower levels of Subjective Well-Being (SWB) than those who gave birth vaginally. If left unaddressed, these psychological challenges may lead to anxiety or depression. This study aimed to investigate the impact of Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC) training on improving the Subjective Well-Being of postpartum women following caesarean delivery. This research employed a randomized controlled pilot trial (waitlist control) with pretest–posttest assessments and utilized non-parametric analysis (Mann-Whitney U Test). The Scale of Positive and Negative Experience (SPANE), Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS), and Self-Compassion Scale (SCS) were used to measure Subjective Well-Being and self-compassion. The results showed a significant increase in Subjective Well-Being among participants in the experimental group after receiving the MSC training. The findings suggest that MSC training is effective in improving the well-being of postpartum women who delivered via caesarean section.

Abstract

Working conditions with a high risk of safety and health can reduce employees’ well- being in the workplace. Well-being in the workplace is essential in supporting employee performance that prevents employees from error and negligent behavior. Therefore, this study aims to determine the relationship between calling and well-being for forestry employees. Our hypothesis is search for calling dimension has a negative correlation with employees’ well-being at work, and the presence of calling has a positive correlation with employees’ well-being at work. Through the purposive sampling technique, 130 employees are willing to participate in this study. Data collection uses the Calling and Vocation Questionnaire (CVQ) and the Eudaimonic Well-being at Work Scale (EWWS), with high-reliability scores. The results of data analysis showed that both the dimensions of calling–search and the presence–had a significant positive relationship with well-being at work. Employees who seek a calling, and those who perceive a calling, feel a sense of well-being at work.

Abstract

Self-disclosure is an individual's actions to share information about himself to others, whether it is private, less intimate or even everyday information. Adolescent with the development of personal space sometimes need distance and keep many secrets from their parents, and tend to be more open to friends. Parents who are worried about the child's social and personal life will do parental monitoring. Parental monitoring efforts are partly influenced by the social signals displayed by children, meaning that the strength of parental monitoring can be influenced by the degree of self-disclosure. On the other hand, children who try to disclose sometimes get different responses such as reacting positively or negatively from parents. Therefore, we assume that the strength of parental monitoring will also be influenced by parental knowledge. Self-disclosure will be a source of parental knowledge, and this knowledge then determines parental monitoring. If parents do not use the child's disclose to increase knowledge about the child, then the child's self-disclosure will not affect parental monitoring. Through a proportional stratified random sampling technique, it was obtained 394 high school students, to see the link between self-disclosure and parental monitoring with the mediation of parental knowledge. Data were taken using parental monitoring scale from Kerr and Stattin (a=0.83), self-disclosure scale from Wheeless and Grotz (a=0.67), and parental knowledge from Kerr and Stattin (a=0.73). Mediation test results with the model 4 Hayes PROCESS obtained that the relationship between self-disclosure and parental monitoring is fully mediated by parental knowledge of 0.10. This means that self-disclosure in high school students will affect parental monitoring, only if parents have adequate knowledge about their children.

Abstract

This study investigates the correlation between family influence and career adaptability, with the future time perspective as a mediator, in final-year students residing in Bandung. We used the snowball sampling technique to collect data from 386 final-year students of D3, D4, and S1 programs. This study used the Future Time Perspective Scale, with a validity value of 0.30-0.648 and a reliability value of 0.834, the Family Influence Scale, with a validity value of 0.326-0.698 and a reliability value of 0.865, and the Career Adapt-Abilities Scale-Short Form, with a validity value of 0.561-0.759 and a reliability value of 0.896. The data analyzed using the Hayes Process Model 4 method revealed that the future time perspective partially mediates the relationship between family influence and career adaptability. The findings indicate that students who receive support from their families regarding financial, informational, and personal beliefs have a better outlook on their future. Such support enables them to identify their career goals, explore their potential and future work environment, and plan their career effectively. Students actively engaged in career preparation activities also had higher career adaptability. These students were more proactive in identifying obstacles and preparing for future career transitions after graduation.
