Abstract

According to the constructionism paradigm in communication and media theory, social reality is constructed by the media based on its ideology. The media construct various realities in the real world into a second reality. One of them is the rise of artists who explore Islam and decide to "emigrate" or “hijrah.” Using the Murray Edelman framing method, this study explores how online media okezone.com, detik.com, and tribunnews.com frame the hijrah phenomenon of  Indonesian artists in entertainment packages and bring up the term hijrahtainment. The results of this study show that the media construct two frames, namely the ideal millennial frame and the piety and profane frame. The categorisation from the three online media offers religion commodification in the frame of piety, mixing with profanity like entertainment.

Abstract

Qualitative studies regarding the reception or reception of Generation Z on Covid-19 information in Indonesia have not been widely carried out. As a generation that was born and grew up with digital technology that is developing very quickly, Gen Z has different characteristics from other generations. Gen Z's acceptance of information related to Covid-19 is one of the important things to assess regarding their potential role and quantity. This study aims to explore Gen-Z's acceptance of Covid-19 information in digital media with a qualitative approach to reception analysis. Data were obtained through FGDs and in-depth interviews. Research findings show that Gen Z prefers access to information that is fast-paced and practical; have a preference for news that is more relaxed, positive and informative; have adequate information literacy to identify hoaxes and perform fact checks; and has a reading position of negotiation and opposition with diverse behavior, but not hegemony-dominant.  The results of this study contribute to the qualitative data of Gen-Z reception of Covid-19 information among the available quantitative data.

Abstract

Abstract—Preambule is the opening song on the album Era Aggressor (2021) from the Brandals. Preambule song lyrics tell about the phenomena that occurred in the past few years that can trigger disunity in Indonesian society. The Brandals through the Preambule song want to remind people not to be easily provoked and still maintain the unity of the Republic of Indonesia as a form of love for the country. This study uses qualitative methods with critical discourse analysis Norman Fairclough’s model. This study aims to determine the representation of Love Homeland, discourse practice, as well as sociocultural practice on the Preambule song lyrics from the Brandals. The results of the study concluded that the representation of love for the country in the text of the lyrics of the song Preambule was depicted through social criticism of the state of Indonesia which was not doing well. The text of the Preambule song lyrics also describes phenomena in Indonesia that have the potential to cause division and intolerance in society. Therefore, the song Preambule is a response from The Brandals who wants to remind and awaken the public, especially listeners of The Brandals, to maintain unity as a form of love for the homeland. In writing the lyric text of Preambule, Eka Annash was influenced a lot by her childhood life, family background, and the music she listened to. In addition, the process of writing Preambule song lyrics is also influenced by situational, institutional, and social conditions when the lyrics of Preambule songs are written such as the 2019 elections, the draft law that has become a public debate, the internal parties of The Brandals, and the intolerance of the Indonesian people. Abstrak—Preambule merupakan lagu pembuka di album Era Agressor (2021) dari The Brandals. Lirik lagu Preambule menceritakan tentang fenomena-fenomena yang terjadi di beberapa tahun ke belakang yang dapat memicu perpecahan pada masyarakat Indonesia. The Brandals melalui lagu Preambule ingin mengingatkan masyarakat agar tidak mudah terprovokasi serta tetap menjaga persatuan dan kesatuan NKRI sebagai bentuk cinta Tanah Air. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan analisis wacana kritis model Norman Fairclough. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui representasi cinta Tanah Air, praktik wacana, serta praktik sosiokultural pada lirik lagu Preambule dari The Brandals. Hasil penelitian menyimpulkan bahwa representasi cinta Tanah Air pada teks lirik lagu Preambule digambarkan melalui kritik sosial terhadap keadaan Indonesia yang sedang tidak baik-baik saja. Teks lirik lagu Preambule juga menggambarkan fenomena-fenomena di Indonesia yang berpotensi menimbulkan perpecahan serta intoleransi pada masyarakat. Oleh karena itu, lagu Preambule menjadi respon dari The Brandals yang ingin mengingatkan dan menyadarkan masyarakat khususnya pendengar The Brandals untuk tetap menjaga persatuan sebagai bentuk cinta terhadap Tanah Air. Pada penulisan teks lirik lagu Preambule, Eka Annash banyak dipengaruhi oleh kehidupan masa kecil, latar belakang keluarga, dan musik-musik yang ia dengarkan. Selain itu, proses penulisan lirik lagu Preambule juga dipengaruhi oleh kondisi situasional, institusional, dan sosial pada saat lirik lagu Preambule ditulis seperti Pemilu 2019, Rancangan Undang-undang yang menjadi perdebatan publik, pihak internal The Brandals, dan sikap intoleransi masyarakat Indonesia.

Abstract

Abtract. Communication is processed into various forms for the needs of people's lives. Avatar The Way of Water is a phenomenal sci-fi film at the end of 2022 because of the sophisticated technological sophistication and moral values ​​contained in this film. This film tells about the rapid development of technology that can make humans turn into a creature that is more resilient than humans who live on other planets. The purpose of this study is to determine the value of postmodernism contained in the film Avatar The Way of Water through the structure of signs and symbols. The method used in this study is a qualitative method with a semiotic analysis approach. The data collection technique uses image and sound observation or dialogue in which there are sign elements that describe moral values. Then it was analyzed using Roland Barthes' semiotic analysis which analyzed it in two stages, namely the denotation and connotation stages. The results of this study include denotative meanings regarding the existence of families as well as human crimes against nature, then some of the connotative meanings in this film, namely taking care of each other between families under any circumstances, as well as technological advances to support their implementation process. There are two myths in this film, namely regarding family and human consumption of nature. Abtsrak. Semakin pesatnya perkembangan teknologi di era globalisasi ini, perkembangan pesan komunikasi diolah menjadi berbagai bentuk guna kebutuhan kehidupan masyarakat. Avatar The Way of Water merupakan film fiksi ilmiah yang sangat fenomenal pada akhir tahun 2022 karena kecanggihan tekonologi yang mumpuni serta nilai moral yang terkandung pada film ini. Film ini menceritakan tentang perkebangan teknologi yang begitu pesat yang dapat membuat manusia berubah menjadi satu makhluk yang lebih Tangguh dari manusia yang tinggal di planet lain. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui nilai posmodernisme yang terkandung dalam film Avatar The Way of Water melalui struktur tanda dan symbol. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan analisis semiotika. Teknik oengumpulan data menggunakan observasi gambar dan suara atau dialog di dalamnya juga yang terdapat unsur tanda yang menggambarkan nilai moral. Lalu dianalisis menggunakan analisis semiotika Roland Barthes yang menganalisis secara dua tahap, yaitu dengan tahap denotasi dan konotasi. Hasil pada penelitian ini yaitu diantaranya makna denotasi mengenai kebaradaan kelurga juga kejahatan manusia pada alam, lalu beberapa makna konotasi pada film ini yaitu saling menjaga antar keluarga dalam keadaan apapun, juga kemajuan teknologi untuk mendukung proses pelaksanaan meraka. Mitos pada film ini ada dua yaitu mengenai keluaraga dan konsumsi manusia terhadap alam.

Abstract

Abstract. Intrapersonal communication and interpersonal communication have a role to change and develop the individual self including his self-concept. According to Hurlock, there is an actual self-concept and an ideal self-concept in humans. From the existence of these two concepts in humans, its possible for a gap to arise due to discrepancy between ideal self and the actual self . The use of the Instagram story feature is thought to influence the fulfillment of one's ideal self. The method used in this research is quantitative with a correlational approach. The population in this study were students in the city of Bandung. Research data collection was carried out by distributing questionnaires. Determination of the sample of this study using random sampling and there is a total sample of 100 people measured using Limeshow. F test, t test and Pearson correlation test were performed. The results obtained show that the use of Instagram Stories significantly influences the fulfillment of the ideal self-concept of its users. Abstrak. Komunikasi intrapersonal dan komunikasi interpersonal berperan dalam mengubah dan mengembangkan diri individu termasuk terhadap konsep dirinya. Menurut Hurlock terdapat konsep diri aktual dan konsep diri ideal dalam diri manusia. Dari adanya kedua konsep diri manusia memungkinkan timbulnya kesenjangan akibat ketidaksesuaian antara keduan. Penggunaan fitur Instagram story diduga dapat berpengaruh terhadap pemenuhan konsep diri ideal seseorang. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kuantitatif dengan pendekatan korelasional. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah Mahasiswa di Kota Bandung. Pengumpulan data penelitian dilakukan dengan menyebarkan kuisioner. Penentuan sampel penelitian ini menggunakan random sampling serta terdapat jumlah sampel sebesar 100 orang diukur menggunakan Limeshow. Dilakukan uji F, uji t dan uji korelasi Pearson. Hasil yang didapat menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan Instagram Story secara signifikan berpengaruh terhadap pemenuhan konsep diri ideal penggunanya.

Abstract. As Generation Z is accustomed to living with digital technology and social media, there is an unique phenomenon called journaling among them. Journaling is a new term popular among Generation Z to refer to writing activities such as diaries. This research on "The Meaning of Journaling for Generation Z" aims to find out the motives and experiences, typifications and meanings of Generation Z in journaling. Using a qualitative research method with Alfred Schutz's phenomenological study approach. In-depth interviews, audio recordings and documents were conducted as data collection techniques and analyzed using phenomenological reduction data analysis techniques. To test the validity of the data, source triangulation was used. Abstrak. Di tengah Generasi Z yang terbiasa hidup dengan teknologi serba digital dan sosial media, terdapat fenomena unik yang disebut dengan journaling di kalangan ini. Journaling merupakan istilah baru yang populer di kalangan Generasi Z untuk menyebut kegiatan menulis seperti halnya pada buku harian. Penelitian tentang “Makna Journaling bagi Generasi Z” ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui motif dan pengalaman, tipifikasi serta makna Generasi Z dalam melakukan journaling. Menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi fenomenologi Alfred Schutz. Wawancara mendalamdan rekaman audio dilakukan sebagai teknik pengumpulkan data dan menganalisisnya menggunakan teknik analisis data reduksi fenomenologi. Terakhir, untuk menguji keabsahan data digunakan triangulasi sumber.

Abstract

Generation Z, also known as the centennials, has been widely discussed in various studies. Gen Z's behavior in consuming news and information is shown in the way they access information, choose news topics and media platforms, and determine which media they will frequently go to specifically. The purpose of this study is to explore Gen Z's consumption of news on mainstream media and the factors that influence it, and to delve into their perceptions of the function of mainstream media in exercising social control and being a trusted source of information. The method used in the research is qualitative with a case study approach. The results show that Gen Z's exploration of information is influenced by interest, locality, proximity, self-satisfaction, and incidental matters. These five factors are closely related to the specific characteristics of Gen Z and can be input for local and national mainstream media to follow the direction of development that is now held by the young generation. Mainstream media also remains Gen Z's reference for truth verification; even though they do not have a tendency to be loyal to one media and deliberately access the web pages of mainstream media directly.

Abstract

This study explores the influence of Maudy Ayunda's credibility as a brand ambassador on Lazada's level of brand awareness among Instagram followers. Using a quantitative approach, 271 respondents were selected through random sampling technique. Data was collected through questionnaires and literature studies, then analyzed using simple regression analysis. The results showed that Maudy Ayunda's credibility, expertise, trustworthiness, and attractiveness as a brand ambassador significantly contributed to Lazada's brand awareness. The positive regression coefficient for each variable indicates its positive impact on brand awareness, with a significance value lower than 0.05. This study confirms that the choice of Maudy Ayunda as a brand ambassador has made a significant contribution in increasing Lazada's brand awareness among its followers on Instagram. Penelitian ini mengeksplorasi pengaruh kredibilitas Maudy Ayunda sebagai brand ambassador terhadap tingkat brand awareness Lazada di kalangan pengikut Instagram. Dengan pendekatan kuantitatif, 271 responden dipilih melalui teknik random sampling. Data dikumpulkan melalui kuesioner dan studi pustaka, kemudian dianalisis menggunakan analisis regresi sederhana. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kredibilitas, keahlian, keterpercayaan, dan daya tarik Maudy Ayunda sebagai brand ambassador secara signifikan berkontribusi terhadap brand awareness Lazada. Koefisien regresi positif untuk masing-masing variabel menunjukkan dampak positifnya pada brand awareness, dengan nilai signifikansi yang lebih rendah dari 0,05. Penelitian ini mengonfirmasi bahwa pilihan Maudy Ayunda sebagai brand ambassador telah memberikan kontribusi yang signifikan dalam meningkatkan kesadaran merek Lazada di kalangan pengikutnya di Instagram.

Abstract. In this technology-driven era, smartphones and the internet have become essential tools in our daily lives due to their rapid development. The global internet user count currently stands at a staggering 5.16 billion people. While social media is a significant outcome of technological advancements, it also comes with negative impacts such as addiction, which can lead to a fear of missing out (FoMO). This study aims to determine whether there is a relationship between social media use and FoMO levels in students in Bandung. The study used quantitative and correlational methods with a sample of 54 people to determine stratified random sampling respondents. Data collection techniques in this study used questionnaires (questionnaires). The data analysis technique in this study used pearson correlation. The validity test in this study used bivarie pearson and reliability test in this study using Cronbach's alpha formula and correlational test using bivarie pearson. The results of this study There is a moderate relationship between aspect of attention and the level of fear of missing out (FoMO). There is a moderate relationship between the aspect of appreciation and the level of fear of missing out (FoMO). There is a strong relationship between the duration aspect and the level of fear of missing out (FoMO). There is a very strong between the frequency aspect and the level of fear of missing out (FoMO). Abstrak. Dalam era yang sudah didominasi oleh teknologi, penggunaan smartphone dan internet menjadi tak terhindarkan. Saat ini pengguna internet global mencapai 5.16 miliar orang. Media sosial juga merupakan hasil dari perkembangan teknologi, namun tentunya ada dampak negatif dari media sosial, salah satunya yaitu menjadi kecanduan media sosial yang sering kali menciptakan perasaan takut akan ketinggalan (FoMO). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah terdapat hubungan antara penggunaan media sosial dengan tingkat FoMO pada pelajar di kota Bandung. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan metode korelasional dengan jumlah 54 orang dengan penentuan responden stratified random sampling. Teknik data pada penelitian ini menggunakan korelasi pearson. Uji validitas pada penelitian menggunakan bivarie person dan Uji reliabilitas pada penelitian ini menggunakan rumus alpha cronbach dan uji korelasional menggunakan bivarie pearson. Hasil dari penelitian ini terdapat hubungan dengan kategori sedang antara aspek perhatian dengan tingkat fear of missing out (FoMO). Terdapat hubungan dengan kategori sedang antara aspek penghayatan dengan tingkat fear of missing out (FoMO). Terdapat hubungan dengan kategori kuat antara aspek durasi dengan tingkat fear of missing out (FoMO). Terdapat hubungan dengan kategori sangat kuat dengan tingkat fear of missing out (FoMO).
