Abstract

Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is an acute infection caused by orbovirus (Arthopodbron virus) and is transmitted through Aedes mosquito bites (Aedes albopictus dan Aedes aegypti). Until now, 4 types of dengue virus were introduced that can cause dengue fever and dengue fever. Regarding the occurrence of dengue fever can be stated as follows. After the dengue virus enters the human body through the bite of the Aedes mosquito the patient's body forms immunity to the disease if the patient is attacked for the second or more times the type of virus is different, it will cause an immunological reaction in the body (Ngastiyah, 2015). The methodology in writing scientific papers uses a literature study with four clients in the scientific papers of the D3 Nursing study program at the Faculty of Health, Unipdu, Jombang in 2014-2018 with the same title, namely nursing care for clients of dengue fever. The results of the implementation of nursing care in four clients with dengue hemoragic fever (DHF), obtained all four clients experience the disease (DHF) with a diagnosis of hyperthermia. Nursing actions made can be carried out well because of the support of all health workers, clients and families and hospital infrastructure but cannot be carried out in a row.

This study aimed to provide nursing care to a family member who suffers from leprosy. Methods: This research design uses a literature study from four families using 3 scientific papers. The nursing process includes assessment, diagnosis, intervention, implementation, and evaluation. Assessment of leprosy clients found that the main complaint was the presence of raised patches accompanied by a feeling of heat, and black spots on the legs. Results: Priority nursing diagnoses in family 1, non-compliance related to the impact of sick family members, family 2 and 3, knowledge deficit related to the inability of the family to recognize health problems and family 4, non-compliance related to the inability of the family to recognize family health problems. Nursing interventions that exist in theory and real cases have similarities and differences, where the plans in each nursing diagnosis are adjusted to the client's condition and facilities and infrastructure. Conclusion: Implementation was adjusted to the cooperation between the client, family, nurse and health services. Evaluation of nursing care in family 1 is resolved and the intervention is discontinued Nurse must give health education for leprosy and monitor health efforts in each family.

Abstract

The pandemic caused by COVID-19 has led to increased ICT usage in educational institutions. Still, senior teachers who have a significant impact on their advancement of professionalism with many years of teaching experience face several challenges in utilizing ICT in teaching and learning. Several studies found that compared to male teachers, female teachers are less proficient in using ICT devices due to several factors. Thus, this study aims to discover senior female EFL teachers' beliefs in terms of their perceptions and awareness of using ICT during their teaching and learning processes. The study included 34 senior female EFL teachers from East Java, Indonesia. A sequential explanatory mixed-methods design was used in this study. The questionnaires and one-on-one interviews showed that the use of ICT in the classroom is reported to be well appreciated by senior female EFL teachers, who also received guidance and support from their colleagues and collaborated on ICT professional development. However, they need assistance with theoretical and practical ICT abilities, solutions to internet constraints, and school-based technological infrastructures. This study recommends the government and higher education institutions implement targeted programs for senior teachers.

Abstract

Abstract

This case study aims to find out how teachers of the International Class Program at an elementary school in Malang incorporated critical thinking (CT) pedagogy in teaching subjects with English as a Medium of Instruction. Eighteen teachers filled in an online questionnaire, and two of them were interviewed. Analysis of one pre-recorded video for English class (lasted for 13 minutes) and one video of Math class delivered through Zoom meeting (lasted for 29 minutes) was done to investigate how teachers triggered students’ thinking in the classroom practice. Also, an analysis of three lesson plans was done to dig further information about teachers’ teaching practices. The findings indicated that the teachers have practical knowledge of CT pedagogy from reading and workshops that were not necessarily focused on CT. Textbooks were mainly used to guide the teachers’ teaching, supported by audio-visual media. Questions primarily were used to trigger students’ higher-order thinking by connecting the texts with the students’ experiences in real life. Despite the implicit policy of CT, the teachers have implemented CT strategies in the International Class Program. Overall, the teachers have played as more knowledgeable others that facilitated the students’ learning to think critically. However, they were not confident whether the teaching material they were developed supported CT pedagogy implementation. Thus, the study findings revealed their need for supervisors to evaluate the content of teaching material and practical guidance to conduct thinking routines for the young learners in the subjects with English as a medium of instruction.

Abstract

This article describes the integration of media-and-material development tasks in an Extensive Reading: Folk & Fairy Tales course. Fifty-eight students were instructed to write reflections on their experiences in performing reading and media-and-material development tasks. The results reveal that the practical application of teaching reading using materials for young learners was the most important aspect learned from the class. Moreover, most students reported that their creativity in media and material development, storytelling skills, and summarizing skills were enhanced through the tasks. The reading and media-and-material development tasks worked well for most students; nevertheless, some students viewed the caterpillar-making task as excessive. Meanwhile, the issues raised by students were mostly related to scoring standards, actions against plagiarism, and dissatisfaction with the caterpillar task. Thus, a clear description of assessment criteria and the omission of the caterpillar task are suggested for future practice.
