Abstract

Plurality, including religious plurality in Indonesia, is an indisputable reality. Many conflicts based on religious plurality still occur in Indonesia today, and all religions in Indonesia must be responsible for them. This article aims to review the religious plurality concept as the face of Indonesia in the form of the Maluku Protestant Church??"s dogma, as a responsibility of the Maluku Protestant Church in contributing to the development of Indonesia. This research uses a content analysis method of the Maluku Protestant Church??"s dogma, with the thoughts of the theology of religions as a basis. This research found 26 (twenty-six) articles about plurality, namely how the Maluku Protestant Church sees other faiths. Based on the objectives of this study, it can be concluded that the belief in Tuhan Yang Maha Kuasa, who works in all the realities of Indonesia, must become a common belief of all religions, including the Maluku Protestant Church, to become a common foothold in building interfaith relations towards beyond pluralism as a theological formulation of religions that is appropriate and relevant to the current context.

Abstract

This study aims to find the ideal concept of leadership in church circles and make it relevant to the church process at the Evangelical Christian Church in Halmahera (GMIH). The method used is research or literature review by exploring leadership management concepts, both general in society and specifically in the church. This study found that the success or failure of a leader will indeed be seen from the results of his work. The process influences these results from the beginning of becoming a leader, the lead management process, and its evaluation, both process evaluation and work results. Leadership in the Church is the same way. One thing that needs to be instilled early in church leadership is that the leader-pastor is not God. They are only tools in God's hands because they are also not free from various weaknesses. The church does not adhere to a "cult of church leaders" and, therefore, never makes leaders saints who cannot be criticized or blasphemed. This research concludes that every pastor-leader will continue to learn to improve himself and the leadership system to improve in the future, even in the church, including GMIH. Good traditions in the church should be maintained, and if they are outdated and tend to be destructive, they should be let go willingly.

Abstract

The research entitled Construction of Public Sphere of Sasadu Traditional Houses in Sahu Tribe Community Reviewed from the Philosophy of Jürgen Habermas is motivated by the views of Sahu tribe community on their traditional houses which, according to the writer, only focus on the cultural-customary-religious traditions. In fact, Sasadu can be interpreted more than that, which is as a public Sphere in which Sahu tribe community together with the public authorities can build rational communicative discourse to reach consensus on the social, economic and political problems faced in West Halmahera for the sake of prosperity in living together. This research aimed to construct the philosophical concept of Sasadu traditional houses in Sahu tribu community based on the public sphere point of view of Jürgen Habermas. This research was a library study supported by field studies through observations and interviews. The method of data analysis applied in this research was philosophical hermeneutics. After conducting a search in this research, the results obtained are that Sasadu in Sahu tribe community in West Halmahera can be categorized as a public sphere in which private people and public authorities gather to form a “public” for developing argumentative rational discourse which will later be agreed to become a joint decision as a society which leads to public opinion. Sasadu, thus becomes a mediator between the private sphere of Sahu tribe community and the sphere of public authority, where social control is built and the values of universality are guarded.

Abstract

The objective of this study is to uncover the strengths of the local wisdom concept in the Ohoidertawun community, which can serve as a model for Kei society in particular and Maluku in general. This research employs a qualitative method to examine various phenomena in Ohoidertawun. The study is conducted in Ohoidertawun Village (Ohoi), Kei-Kecil District, Southeast Maluku Regency. The main reason for choosing Ohoidertawun as the research site is its harmonious social relationships despite the community's diversity in social strata and religion, which remained intact even during the Maluku conflict. The study finds that the understanding of local wisdom (Larvul Ngabal and Ain Ni Ain) remains well-preserved in Ohoidertawun, effectively influencing the community's social life. Sasi, as a form of local wisdom, plays a crucial role in managing natural resources in Ohoidertawun. Additionally, local leaders play a significant role in maintaining social cohesion within the diverse community. This local wisdom strengthens the development of economic and tourism potentials in Ohoidertawun.

Abstract

This study aims to understand the impact of cyberbullying and to develop a pastoral assistance framework for teenagers who are victims of cyberbullying in the GPM Bethel and GPM Rehoboth congregations. To address the research problem, the researcher employed a qualitative research method. Observations were conducted on the impact of cyberbullying on teenagers in the GPM Bethel and GPM Rehoboth congregations, interviews were held with victims, church council members, and youth mentors in both congregations, and document studies related to cyberbullying and pastoral care were carried out. The findings reveal that in the GPM Bethel and GPM Rehoboth congregations, 57 teenagers have experienced cyber violence. Through Focus Group Discussions (FGDs), it was further found that 33 teenagers from the GPM Bethel congregation and 24 from the GPM Rehoboth congregation had been victims of cyberbullying while using WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, and online games as platforms for communication and building friendships. The hope of finding understanding and supportive peers through these platforms had, unfortunately, led to hurtful actions among the teenagers. The study highlights the need for a pastoral care approach to assist victims in recovering and developing healthy ways of building social relationships while addressing the trauma caused by cyberbullying.

Abstract

This study aims to map the political role of the Gereja Masehi Injili di Halmahera (GMIH) in the 2024 Election and examine how the interaction between religion and politics affects the political preferences and participation of church members. This study employed a qualitative approach. Data were collected through open-ended surveys and in-depth interviews to gain a deeper understanding of the perspectives and experiences of church members. The findings reveal that members’ political preferences are strongly influenced by church leaders, the church actively mobilizes participation through value-based education, and maintains symbolic ties with certain candidates. GMIH contributes to strengthening local democracy but may risk polarization if neutrality is not maintained. Conclusion: GMIH plays a significant role in shaping political awareness and participation among members, with the potential to enhance local democracy if its influence is wisely managed.

Abstract

Mental health is still an issue that has not received optimal attention from various parties. It is because there is a large treatment gap with most mental illness disorders not yet detected, there are still many health workers who have not been trained in mental health screening and management programs, and the treatment gap means that many People With Mental Illness (ODGJ) have not treated. This requires an analysis of recovery in the Maluku Islands region to give meaning to the lives of ODGJ even though they experience relapse. The research aims to analyze the recovery of ODGJ in the Maluku Islands region. This research used a cross-sectional approach with 268 respondents spread across five districts/cities of the Maluku Islands. The data analysis used in this research is univariate, bivariate, and multivariate. The research results show that most respondents live in Central Maluku (29.5%). In the bivariate analysis, it was found that the variables gender, religion, marital status, education level, duration of suffering from schizophrenia, living in the same house, drug consumption, and visits to the health center were significantly related to ODGJ recovery (p<0.05). Meanwhile, the variables' age and distance from home to the health center showed a statistically insignificant relationship with ODGJ recovery (p>0.05). Meanwhile, multivariate analysis shows that ODGJ living at home is the strongest predictor (OR=8.295, 95% CI=4.441-10.172) among other variables that influence the recovery of ODGJ in the Maluku Islands. The findings of this research are crucial for developing interventions and policies to promote institutional recovery in the Maluku Islands.
