Abstract

Waste generated from market activities is one of the main sources of waste generation and has become a big problem coupled with the knowledge, attitudes and participation of traders who do not really support good waste management because they throw garbage anywhere and without distinguishing between organic and inorganic waste. . The knowledge, attitudes, and participation of traders who do not support waste management are a reflection of their ignorance of the environment. This research is an analytic survey study designed with a cross sectional design. Research data were collected through interviews using a questionnaire and observation using a checklist to 60 samples. Through the research, the following results were obtained: 34 respondents (64.7%) had a low level of knowledge, 26 respondents (35.3%) had a high level of knowledge; 31 respondents (51.7%) had attitudes in the low criteria regarding waste management, and 29 respondents (48.3%) had attitudes in the high criteria; 29 respondents (48.3%) had low participation in waste management, and 31 respondents (51.7%) had high participation. Through the results of the chi-square test, it is known that there is a correlation between the level of knowledge of traders and waste management (p value 0.008), a correlation between merchant attitudes and waste management (p value 0.010), and a correlation between merchant participation and waste management (p value 0.000).

Abstract

ABSTRACT Food sanitation is an effort to secure and save food to keep it clean, and healthy. Hygiene of food handlers is the key to success in food processing that is healthy and safe Children's snack behavior will be influenced by children's knowledge, attitudes, and actions regarding the selection of healthy snacks.The food that is very liked by elementary school aged children is street food. Reflection of childrens habits is In consuming snack that are not good can affect children nutrition. The cleanliness of snacks can affect the incidence of diarrhea due to the use of hazardous substances and can result in food poisoning. This research was a quantitative study with a cross-sectional study design, the sample taken was 10 vendors and 51 student respondents. The sampling technique used was non-probability sampling where the researcher took data using a questionnaire which was filled in directly by the respondent. The results showed that from 10 respondents the sanitation hygiene behavior of street food vendors in 101799 was still said to be not good, because there were found some street food vendors who had poor food sanitation hygiene behavior. Then the results of the bivariate analysis of 51 elementary school students showed that there was a correlation between knowledge of snacking and the incidence of diarrhea (p value 0.000), attitudes to the incidence of diarrhea (p value 0.000), actions with the incidence of diarrhea (p value 0.012).

Abstract

Latar belakang: Penerapan ergonomi yang tidak tepat akan menimbulkan masalah kesehatan seperti cedera dan gangguan muskuloskeletal. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui gejala muskuloskeletal dan mengetahui tingkat risiko ergonomis pada pengrajin tradisional Karo di Desa Samura Kecamatan Kabanjahe Kabupaten Karo.Metode: Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif dengan desain cross sectional. Sebagai sampel diambil 14 pengrajin kain tradisional Karo. Data yang dikumpulkan menggunakan kuesioner peta tubuh Nordik dan Rapid Upper Lower Assessment (RULA).Hasil: Hasil penelitian menemukan bahwa perubahan postur merupakan risiko ergonomi. Berdasarkan analisis risiko ergonomi pada tahapan menenun kain tradisional Karo didapatkan data bahwa pengrajin harus menyelidiki dan menerapkan perubahan posisi kerja, pengrajin perlu segera melakukan perubahan posisi kerja lebih lanjut. Keluhan muskuloskeletal tertinggi yang dirasakan pada bagian bokong, lainnya pada betis kiri dan kanan serta bahu, kemudian pada punggung, pinggang, leher bagian atas, leher bagian bawah, dan bokong.Simpulan: Disimpulkan bahwa proses menenun masih menimbulkan risiko ergonomis bagi pengrajin dengan keluhan subjektif muskuloskeletal. Upaya untuk memperbaiki keadaan saat ini adalah dengan melakukan relaksasi di waktu istirahat yang singkat dan bantuan poster atau promosi pendidikan untuk mengingatkan perajin saat bekerja. ABSTRACT Background: The implementation of improper ergonomic will lead to health problems like injuries and musculoskeletal disorders. This study aims to recognize the musculoskeletal symptoms and determine the ergonomic risk level at traditional craftsmen of Karo in Samura village, Kabanjahe District, Karo Regency.Method: This research was a descriptive study with a cross-sectional design. As the sample, it was collected, 14 Karonese traditional cloth craftsmen. Data collected used the Nordic body map questionnaire dan Rapid Upper Lower Assessment (RULA).Result: The result found that the risk of ergonomic need to apply the changing of posture. Trough the analysis of ergonomics risk at the weaving stage of Karo traditional cloth, the following data were found that the craftsmen must investigate and apply changes in the work position, the craftsmen need to conduct further changes in work position immediately. The highest musculoskeletal complaints felt were in the buttocks, other in the left and right calves and shoulder, then in the back, waist, upper neck, lower neck, and buttocks.Conclusion: It concluded that the weaving process still posed ergonomic risks for the craftsmen with musculoskeletal subjective complaints. Efforts to improve the present situation are the doing relaxation in short break time and help by poster or promotion education to reminding the craftsman while they work.

Abstract

Pertumbuhan penduduk yang semakin meningkat selaras dengan kebutuhan masyarakat akan penggunaan plastik secara konsumtif. Penyebaran sampah plastik yang tidak terorganisir dari tahun ke tahun dapat merusak lingkungan seperti tempat tinggal, tanah, laut hingga menjadi polutan udara. Tujuan dari penelitian yaitu untuk mengetahui hubungan pengetahuan dan sikap ibu rumah tangga terhadap penggunaan kantong plastik di Lubuk Pakam. Jenis penelitian adalah analisis observasional analitik, desain penelitian cross sectional, yang dilakukan di kecamatan Lubuk Pakam. Populasi penelitian adalah ibu rumah tangga dengan sampel sebanyak 100 ibu rumah tangga, metode pengambilan sampel menggunakan Accidental Sampling. Data diolah dengan menggunakan uji chi-square. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian mengenai penggunaan kantong plastik pada ibu rumah tangga menunjukkan bahwa ibu rumah tangga dengan tingkat pengetahuan pada kategori baik sebesar 39%, ibu rumah tangga dengan tingkat sikap pada kategori sikap sedang sebesar 54%, dan ibu rumah tangga dengan tingkat penggunaan kantong plastik pada kategori sedang sebesar 52%. Diperoleh hasil analisis uji chi-square menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan yang bermakna antara pengetahuan dan penggunaan kantong plastik pada ibu rumah tangga dengan P value 0,000, dan terdapat hubungan yang bermakna antara sikap dan penggunaan kantong plastik pada ibu rumah tangga dengan P value 0,000. Pengetahuan dan sikap pada masyarakat khususnya ibu rumah tangga dapat ditingkatkan dengan adanya pemberian informasi dan memberikan pemahaman yang positif terhadap pemanfaatan dan penggunaan kantong plastik melalui penyuluhan yang diberikan oleh pemerintah serta pembuatan iklan di sosial media.

Abstract

Stunting is a linear growth disorder of a child's body that becomes short or short based on height for age with a Z-score threshold of < -2 standard deviations. Multi-dimensional factors, including environmental factors, cause stunting. Environmental factors that cause stunting are the mother's personal hygiene, sanitation, clean water and drinking water sources. This study aimed to determine the effect of clean water sanitation facilities and household food sanitation hygiene on stunting in toddlers. Observational study with a case-control design in children aged 0-59 months in Silahisabung District, Dairi Regency. The population used in this research is 453 toddlers aged 0-59 months. Case sampling technique using total sampling. All stunting toddlers were taken as cases of 78 toddlers and 78 as controls. Using weight scales and body length measuring instruments, research data was collected using questionnaires and tools to determine the nutritional status of babies under two years old. Data processing and analysis included univariate and bivariate using the chi-square test. The results showed that there were stunted toddlers, namely 61.5% did not have access to water facilities that met the requirements, and 44.9% of toddlers who suffered from stunting were in the age range of 21-40 months. Bivariate analysis using the chi-square test showed an effect of clean water sanitation (p=0.002, OR=2.764) and household food sanitation hygiene (p=0.004, OR=2.562) on the incidence of stunting in toddlers. Management of stunting events requires good coordination and collaboration between health workers, the government and the community in reducing risk factors. Personal hygiene will be further improved in preparing and processing food by practising the principles of food sanitation hygiene.Keywords: Food Hygiene, Sanitation, Stunting, Toddlers

Abstract

Diarrhea is a disease in which the frequency of bowel movements is more frequent than usual or more than 3 times a day, accompanied by a change in the structure of the stool, which becomes softer and even more liquid. The cause of diarrhea is one of the environmental-based diseases which is still a public health problem where one of the causes of diarrhea is poor environmental sanitation conditions. This study aims to determine the determinants of the incidence of diarrhea in Samura Village, Kabanjahe District, Karo Regency in 2022. This type of research is analytic observation with a cross sectional approach. The population in this study were all heads of families who lived in Samura Village, Kabanjahe District, Karo Regency, totaling 3,398 families, with a sample size of 97 samples. The sampling technique was carried out by means of Simple Random Sampling. Data analysis used the Chi Square test. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that there are two variables related to the incidence of diarrhea, namely: personal hygiene with a p-value = 0.014 (p <0.05) and landfills with a p-value = 0.016 (p <0.05) and there are two variables that are not related to the incidence of diarrhea, namely: sources of clean water with a p-value = 346 (p> 0.05) and sewerage with a p-value = 0.472 (p> 0.05). Suggestions for the community to always maintain a clean environment and always apply PHBS, especially in maintaining personal hygiene so that it is far from various diseases

Abstract

Environmental conditions have a big influence on the incidence of malaria because a bad environment can increase the breeding and proliferation of Anopheles mosquitoes. The aim of this research is to determine environmental risk factors and distribution patterns of malaria in the Tanjung Tiram Community Health Center working area, Batubara Regency. This research method is analytical observational with a case control research design and an ecological approach. This research was conducted in the working area of the Tanjung Tiram Health Center, Batu Bara Regency, which was carried out from April to July 2023. Population 40,604 people. The sampling technique was purposive sampling so that the research sample was 100 people. Data collection uses questionnaires and observation sheets. Data analysis using the bivariate Chi square test on SPSS version 20 software and Analysis of malaria case distribution mapping using the Geographic Information System (GIS) application to describe the distribution pattern of malaria in Batubara Regency. The results of the study show that there is a relationship between environmental risk factors such as ceilings (p-value=0.000), wall type (p-value=0.000), ventilation (p-value=0.000), wall density (p-value=0.000), partitions on windows (p-value=0.000), the presence of puddles (p-value=0.000), gutters (p-value=0.000) and swamps around the house (p-value=0.000). The distribution of Malaria cases in Tanjung Tiram District, Batubara Regency is not spread across all areas in the district, this means that the highest number of malaria cases occur in mixed plantation areas. By depicting the distribution pattern in the form of a map, it can optimize the reduction in the incidence of malaria cases. Keywords: Environment, Geographic Information System, Malaria

Abstract

Occupational Contact Dermatitis is a skin disorder that is often found in farmers who spray pesticides. Knowledge of the use of personal protective equipment on citrus farmers in Cingkes Village is still low, therefore it is very important to provide health counseling on the use of personal protective equipment on farmers. The purpose of the study was to determine the effect of health promotion about pesticides and the use of personal protective equipment on increasing knowledge about dermatitis in citrus farmers in Cingkes Village, Simalungun Regency. This type of research is quasi-experimental with a one group pre test-post test research design. This research was conducted in Cingkes Village, Simalungun Regency, which was carried out from July to September 2023. The research sampling was carried out by purposive sampling method. The instruments used were questionnaires and standing banners, leaflets and demonstrations on the use of personal protective equipment to improve farmers' knowledge of contact dermatitis. Data were analyzed using Wilcoxon signed rank test with SPSS version 20 software. The results showed that there is a significant influence of health promotion regarding Personal Protective Equipment on knowledge of contact dermatitis among orange farmers in Cingkes Village, Simalungun Regency (p-value=0.000). To the government and health workers to increase the knowledge of farmers by providing health counseling in order to prevent the occurrence of dermatitis in farmers. to citrus farmer farmers should use gloves, protective clothing, glasses, and masks when working with citrus or chemicals to prevent contact dermatitis. Abstract

The impact of unhealthy housing conditions can result in various negative impacts on human health and one of the consequences is ARI. Data obtained in the Sidomulyo sub-district in 2020 showed that there were 206 cases of ARI. And the physical condition of houses in Sidomulyo still does not meet the requirements for a healthy home. People still often spit carelessly, rarely wash their hands with soap, and are less concerned about using masks. The physical condition of the house and community habits are the most important factors in influencing the occurrence of ARI. The purpose of this community service activity is to provide education and training in preventing ARI through pocket books and standing banners about PHBS to the community in Sidomulyo. This activity includes field surveys, coordinating with the head of the health center and the Head of Sudimulyo, education and socialization, training and demonstrations, and handing over pocket books on preventing ARI to the community in Sidomulyo. This service uses education and demonstration methods, evaluation of activities is carried out by assessing the knowledge and abilities of participants by providing pre-post tests both verbally and by demonstration. Community service activities in the form of direct education/counseling have increased knowledge and can be said to be good because the level of knowledge of participants who became counseling participants increased by ≥ 75%, namely 100%.

Abstract

Environmental conditions have a big influence on the incidence of dengue hemorrhagic fever, because a bad environment can increase the breeding and reproduction of the Aedes aegypti mosquito. Research Objectives: To determine environmental risk factors and distribution patterns of dengue hemorrhagic fever in South Binjai District, Binjai City. The type of research used was analytical observational research with a cross sectional design and an ecological approach. The population in this study was 54.422 people and a sample of 100 people. Analysis of research data with bivariate using Chi square test. And mapping analysis of the distribution of cases of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever using the Geographic Information System application to describe the distribution pattern of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever in Binjai City. The results of the study showed that there was a relationship between the presence of larvae and cases of dengue hemorrhagic fever (p-value=0.000), there was a significant relationship between the presence of larvae and cases of dengue hemorrhagic fever (p-value=0.000), there was a significant relationship between the habit of hanging clothes with cases of dengue hemorrhagic fever (p-value=0.000), there is a significant relationship between the frequency of draining the bathtub and cases of dengue hemorrhagic fever (p-value=0.004), there is no significant relationship between the frequency of support from health workers and cases of dengue hemorrhagic fever (p-value = 0.359), and there is no significant relationship between the frequency of experience of receiving health education and cases of dengue hemorrhagic fever (p-value = 0.359). The distribution of dengue fever cases is not spread throughout the sub-district, but only in several adjacent areas. Based on research results, the highest number of cases occurred in mixed plantation areas. It is recommended that health workers compile a more specific distribution pattern map regarding the factors causing Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever.Keywords: Dengue hemorrhagic fever, Distribution pattern, Environmental, Risk factors
