Abstract

The study focuses on communication actions and organizational culture that prioritize the meaning of organizational members whose values differ from those of their organization. The study aims to describe the communication actions of Muslim employees due to the meaning of messages in organizational culture in Indonesian Catholic institutions. Using a qualitative approach, an interpretive paradigm, and a phenomenological method. Data collection techniques through interviews and observations. The study's subjects were Muslim employees at four Catholic universities in East Java who met the criteria. The data analysis technique followed the Moustakas sequence. The study's findings on the communication actions of Muslim employees in Catholic institutions are reflected in interactional communication, with adjustments to communicants. Contextual communication actions through the willingness to position themselves, listen, and understand the cultural context. Improvisational communication actions through communication styles with an emotional, flexible, open, and gimmick approach. Episodic communication actions through the participation of Muslim employees in retreat, recollection, and patron day activities. Virtually no previous research has used the model of organizational culture and organizational communication as a cultural performance to examine the experience of multireligious religiosity in religious organizations in the Indonesian context. This research also interprets it using a functional-performative integration framework. This study offers a multidisciplinary approach that bridges organizational culture theory, organizational communication theory, and religious studies—a practice rarely employed in studies of organizational communication in multireligious contexts in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study attempts to dissect the tendency to depict public relations institutions in the films produced by Warner Bros and Columbia Pictures. These two production houses are listed as the companies that most often release new films in America. Characters who have profiles as public relations institutions appear in films produced by different production houses. The research will be conducted by taking film samples in the 2010-2019 period. The selection of this year's range is based on previous studies that also used content analysis to look for trends in the depiction of the public relations profession in films in the period 1990-2000 and 2000-2009. This study uses a quantitative approach with descriptive type and uses the method of content analysis. The results show that there are differences in content on the characteristics of the PR profession, the type of campaign in The Social Network and Our Brand is Crisis films. Then on the indicators of the aspect of persuasion, there are similarities from the aspect of persuasion used in the practice of the PR profession.

Abstract

This study focuses on the satisfaction of Catholics in Surabaya in accessing the church's Youtube. The COVID-19 pandemic that has hit the world has also changed how religious people worship. Researchers measure motives and satisfaction with using Youtube. This research was conducted using a quantitative approach with descriptive study and survey research methods conducted online with a sample of 100 Catholics in Surabaya who will be taken using the purposive sampling technique. Respondents are satisfied using the church's Community Social Service Youtube of 2.85. The highest position of respondents lies in the information search indicator; the church's Community Social Service Youtube provides satisfaction in finding information for respondents. While respondents are not satisfied with social interaction indicators, the church's Community Social Service Youtube does not give pleasure when used to fulfil information in establishing social relationships. Academically, the benefits of this research can enrich the study of media communication, mainly social media Youtube. Practically, this research is helpful for the Surabaya Catholic Church Social Commission managers to manage the church's YouTube social media.

Abstract

Penelitian ini berjudul Preferensi Keluarga dan Informasi Politik. Keluarga adalah kelompok masyarakat terkecil yang sekaligus menjadi sasaran pemilih pemilu 2019. Masing-masing anggota keluarga mengakses beragam informasi politik melalui beragam pilihan media. Adapun tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mencari tahu preferensi keluarga di Surabaya dalam pencarian informasi tentang politik. Teori yang digunakan uses and gratification serta konsep-konsep utama mengenai preferensi media, jenis media, informasi politik serta keluarga.Pendekatan penelitian kuantitatif jenis penelitian deskriptif dan metode survey. Pengumpulan data melalui kuesioner. Populasi adalah keluarga di Surabaya dengan sampel 100 keluarga. Penarikan sampel probability sampling dengan teknik accidental sampling. Hasil penelitian menunjukan media online digunakan sebagai preferensi utama keluarga dalam mendapatkan informasi politik. Baik ayah, ibu dan anak. Media konvensional yaitu media cetak dan elektronik hampir ditinggalkan sebagai sumber informasi politik di keluarga.
