Abstract

The methods used in this training include lectures, interactive discussions, simulations, and hands-on practice in preparing and implementing lesson plans based on communicative methods and task-based learning approaches. The training was attended by 20 German language teachers from various secondary schools in Ambon City. The results of this activity show an increase in participants' understanding of the methodical and didactic concepts of German language learning, which is reflected in their success in developing creative and student-centered lesson plans. In addition, participants were also able to apply various learning strategies that support students' mastery of language competencies, such as the selection of appropriate exercises and tasks in accordance with learning objectives (Rückwärtsplannung). The conclusion of this activity is that the methodic and didactic training of German language learning significantly helps teachers in developing more effective and interesting teaching skills. Recommendations from this activity are the need for further training to explore the implementation of technology-based learning methods and collaboration between teachers to support innovation in German language learning in schools.

Abstract

Speech production is a critical component of human communication. However, individuals with phonological disorders, such as lisping, often face barriers in social interaction due to unclear articulation. This study aims to explore how adults with lisp produce phonemic utterances and to examine the causes of such speech production disorders. The main research questions are: (1) How do adults with lisp produce phonemic speech? and (2) What factors contribute to their articulation difficulties? This study employed a qualitative descriptive method using a case study approach. Data were collected from four adult respondents aged 18 to 53 living in Ambon, Indonesia, all of whom exhibit symptoms of lisp or distorted articulation. The data collection techniques included direct observation through video recordings and structured interviews. Analysis was conducted using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman, focusing on variations in speech patterns and articulation phenomena. The findings reveal multiple types of phonemic disruptions, including segment substitution, phonetic feature distortion, syllable structure errors, and lexical pausing patterns. The causes of lisp were identified as genetic inheritance, environmental influences, and congenital conditions such as ankyloglossia (short tongue). The study contributes to the fields of psycholinguistics and speech pathology by providing insight into the diverse manifestations of articulation disorders. It also emphasizes the importance of early diagnosis, family awareness, and phonological therapy to support affected individuals. Future research should involve larger sample sizes and incorporate acoustic and quantitative analysis for broader generalization.

Abstract

The implementation of Distance Learning (PJJ), carried out at the German Language Education Study Program at Pattimura University, is inseparable from various obstacles that hinder the lecture process, one of which is the learning outcomes obtained by students. This study is quasi-experimental quantitative research, namely One-Group Pretest-Posttest, to test the effect of the application of the Self Organized Learning Environment (SOLE) learning model on student learning outcomes in the German Language Teaching Planning Course. The sample consisted of 30 5th-semester students of the German Language Education Study Program. The instrument used in this study was tests. The results of the data analysis showed that the students’ posttest was higher than the pretest, with an average score (mean) of the pretest = 74.93 and an average score (mean) of the posttest = 89.86. This result means that there is an influence in the application of the SOLE model on the students’ learning outcomes.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the denotative and connotative meanings found in the lyrics of the song “Atemlos durch die Nacht” by Helene Fischer. A song is an effective medium for conveying messages and emotions through a combination of melody and lyrics. The lyrics of “Atemlos durch die Nacht” were chosen because of their deep emotional expression and the song’s historical significance as one of Germany’s most successful songs. The research employs a qualitative descriptive method focusing on semantic analysis to identify the literal (denotative) and implied (connotative) meanings in each line of the song’s lyrics. Data were collected through document analysis, and each lyric was interpreted according to its contextual meaning. The findings show that each lyric of the song contains both denotative and connotative meanings that express feelings of freedom, love, and enthusiasm. The denotative meanings present the literal interpretations of the words, while the connotative meanings reveal emotional and symbolic associations related to human experiences of joy, affection, and liberation. In conclusion, the study highlights that linguistic elements in song lyrics can serve as powerful tools for expressing human emotions and cultural values through layers of meaning.

Abstract

The German Language MGMP (Musyawarah Guru Mata Pelajaran) empowerment program in Central Maluku has a clear goal in the development of literacy AKM (Minimum Competency Assessment) instruments. The program begins with an introduction to what an AKM instrument is and its importance in measuring literacy skills in German. Participants were introduced to the framework and methods of AKM instrument development. This community service program aims to: (1) improve the skills of German language teachers in Central Maluku in developing literacy AKM instruments; (2) increase collaboration among teachers and build networks and cooperation to create active and connected German language teachers, and allied teachers, so that they can share experiences, resources, and best practices. The methods used are: (a) initial observation; (b) plan development; (c) online and offline face-to-face approach with teachers; (d) training; (e) evaluation. This activity is carried out face-to-face directly (offline) and indirectly (online). The results achieved from the Central Maluku German Language MGMP empowerment activities in developing literacy AKM instruments show that these efforts have succeeded in improving teacher competence in designing and implementing assessment instruments. The training and workshops not only strengthened teachers' understanding of AKM, but also enriched German teaching methods, encouraged collaboration between teachers and cognate teachers and resulted in the exchange of ideas and best practices in learning.

Abstract

Hör-Sehen is a strategy that combines what is heard and what is seen, or what is called an audio-visual technique, making it easier for students to understand the content of the text. This community service aims to prepare teachers through training on the use of the Hör-Sehen strategy for improving text comprehension skills for German language teachers. In addition, this training is very appropriate to be implemented as a strategy to be used by teachers not only in listening skills but as a combination of what is heard and what is seen. Thus, teachers can apply it to the teaching and learning process in the classroom. The PKM activities carried out by the team for German language teachers in Ambon City are expected to help teachers improve students' understanding of German texts.
