Abstract

This study presents the analysis of the teacher-student interactions in online and offline EFL classes. The objectives of this study are to identify the teacher-student interactions and to analyze the implementation of the types of teacher-student interactions in EFL classes. It is descriptive qualitative research involving three English teachers and thirty students for each class at SMP Ihsaniyah Tegal as the participants of the research. The data were collected through direct classroom observation and videos taken in the class. The data were analyzed based on a FLINT System. The results in this study by observation from the three teachers showed that the type of ‘Asks Question’ from the teachers’ talks and ‘Student Response Open-Ended’ from the students’ talks had the highest percentage. It means that teachers wanted the students to be more active and braver to speak in English. The conclusion of this study indicated that the dominant types of teacher-student interactions in EFL classes are ‘Asks Question’ from the teachers’ talks and ‘Student Response Open-Ended’ from the students’ talks because the teacher tended to act as a facilitator that facilitated students to speak and be more active and as a resource providing the information needed by students. In addition, the students had more opportunities to speak and interact in EFL class by giving responses to the teachers’ talks.

Abstract

This study presents the representation of gender in an English textbook entitled “Bahasa Inggris SMA/MA/SMK/MAK Kelas XII”, published by the Ministry of Education and Culture of Indonesia (2018 Revised Edition). The objective of this study is to analyze the representation of gender in visual and textual forms in the textbook. Critical discourse analysis based on three dimensions of Fairclough's (2001) theory and narrative representation of Kress & Van Leeuwen's (2006) theory are applied in this study. The data were obtained from textual and visual forms based on the terms of domestic chores, role model, achievement, activities, and appearance, it also uses several terms from Porecca (1984) and Mills (2005) framework such as visibility, occupation, and noun. The result of this study showed that in representing gender in the textbook, the authors tried to promote gender equality and minimize gender stereotypes for both genders. Even though gender stereotypes still represented in the textbook, the authors tried to promote gender equality more often because gender equality representation was found in every aspect in the textbook.

Abstract

Program Pengabdian Kemitraan Masyarakat (PKM) tahun 2025 ini merupakan tindak lanjut dari penelitian sebelumnya tentang penguatan modal sosial melalui konseling sebaya disabilitas menuju desa inklusi berkelanjutan. Mitra kegiatan adalah Difabel Slawi Mandiri, sebuah organisasi masyarakat yang berdiri sejak 2010 dan berbadan hukum sejak 2015. Selama ini, organisasi telah aktif dalam advokasi disabilitas dan mendorong terbentuknya desa inklusi di Kabupaten Tegal. Namun, masih terdapat kendala dalam pengembangan kapasitas internal, terutama keterampilan konseling sebaya dan pengelolaan organisasi, termasuk bagi anggota baru yang belum pernah mendapat pelatihan secara luring maupun daring. PKM 2025 ini berfokus pada dua permasalahan utama: (1) keterbatasan penguasaan keterampilan konseling sebaya di kalangan anggota, dan (2) kebutuhan penguatan kapasitas organisasi agar berkelanjutan. Kegiatan yang dilakukan meliputi sosialisasi keterampilan dasar konseling, peningkatan literasi digital untuk konseling daring, pelatihan dinamika kelompok, penguatan kesadaran gender, hingga praktik konseling sebaya secara langsung. Peserta berjumlah 20 orang, terdiri atas penyandang disabilitas, difabel perempuan, orang yang pernah mengalami kusta, serta perwakilan desa inklusi. Kegiatan ini selaras dengan Tujuan Pembangunan Berkelanjutan (SDGs) yakni tujuan 10 (Berkurangnya Kesenjangan), tujuan 5 (Kesetaraan Gender), dan tujuan 3 (Kehidupan Sehat dan Sejahtera). Hasil yang diharapkan adalah meningkatnya kompetensi anggota dalam konseling sebaya, terbangunnya kapasitas organisasi yang lebih kuat, serta terciptanya pondasi bagi pemberdayaan masyarakat inklusi yang berkesinambungan. Peningkatan level keberdayaan mitra pada aspek sosial kemasyarakatan sebesar 44,0% dan aspek manajemen sebesar 46,2%.
