Abstract

The factor supporting the achievement sports is physical skill consisting of speed, the power, agility, coordination and time reaction. Performance of speed determined by motion of the body as the arm and limbs that consisting of components such as muscle, bone, joints, vascularisation and innervation..Stimulation on nerve can improve the ability muscle then it can increasing the physical skill. The method often used is electric stimulator and dry needling. The purpose of this research is to assess running speed and throwing distance through intervention a dry needling to 35 students of Sriwijaya Sport High School Class XII with one group pretest and posttest design. The result showed average of running speed before dry needling is 7,48 ± 0,94 and after dry neddling is 7,44 ± 0,70. However statistical tests using the test paired t get p value = 0,679 (α =0,05 (p>α).The measurement result of throwing distance before dry neddling is 15,61 ± 8,54 and after dry needling is 16,35 ± 8,90. Wilcoxon test shows that p value = 0,077 (α =0,05 (p>α). The result showed that there is no difference between speed run and distance throwing before and after conducted a needle intervention dry ( dry needling ).

Abstract

Flexibility in the human body is the range of abilities of certain joints or groups of joints in functional unity to move optimally ,smoothly and pain-free. Lumbar flexibility is one of the most important factors that support daily human movement activities, such as walking and bending. Decreased lumbar flexibility occurs as human ages, this is also influenced by other related musculoskeletal complaints such as low back pain. Songket craftsmen generally have complaints of low back pain, due to the position and duration of work. This study was conducted to determine the relationn of low back pain complaints with lumbar flexibility among weaving craftsmen in Palembang. This research is an observational analytic study with cross sectional design using total sampling technique. Subjects were 31 weaving craftsmen in the city of Palembang. Lower back flexibility is measured using the Sit and Reach Test method. Data were analyzed using the Gamma Correlation test. There is a significant moderate relation with a negative direction between lower back pain and lumbar flexibility in songket craftsmen (p = 0.022). The study shows that below normal lumbar flexibility scores were found in 11 people consisting of 9 male subjects (29.03%) and 8 subjects age 18-27 years old subjects (25.80%).

Abstract

Dysmenorrhea is a common occurrence in most women. The pain arising from dysmenorrhea ranges from mild to moderate and can disrupt daily activities and performance. Many women practice self-medication to alleviate this pain. This self-medication practice is influenced by several factors, one of which is the level of knowledge. This study aims to explore the relationship between the level of knowledge among female students and self-medication behavior in dysmenorrhea. This study used a cross-sectional design with a random sampling of female students from SMK Negeri 2 Palembang. The total sample involved 41 students. Data were collected and analyzed using chi-square and Mann-Whitney U tests. The majority of students experienced dysmenorrhea (87.8%) with an average Visual Analog Scale (VAS) score of 4.6. The duration of pain varied, with most experiencing pain for 2-3 days after menstruation. Almost all students (97.6%) had good or sufficient knowledge about dysmenorrhea. However, only a few students practiced self-medication (11.1%), with paracetamol being the most commonly used medication. The analysis showed a significant relationship between knowledge level and self-medication behavior (p=0.002, OR: 12.681). The level of knowledge among female students is significantly associated with self-medication behavior in dysmenorrhea. Better health education on dysmenorrhea management and the use of safe medication needs to be strengthened to reduce the risk of side effects and improve the well-being of students.
