Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh jumlah pelat elektroda Fe-Al pada pengurangan mikroplastik dalam limbah masker secara elektrokoagulasi. Sampel penelitian adalah limbah masker medis. Masker dipotong-potong dengan ukuran 1-5 mm. Potongan masker tersebut direndam dalam aquades selama 7 hari. Cairan yang mengandung mikroplastik dielektrokoagulasi dengan kombinasi pelat elektroda (Al-Fe), (Al-Fe-Al), dan (Al-Fe-Al-Fe) selama 4 jam, arus listrik 2,5 A dan pH 6,0. Serat mikroplastik sebelum dan sesudah elektrokoagulasi diamati dengan mikroskop perbesaran 40 kali. Karakterisasi mikroplastik dilakukan dengan menggunakan FTIR (Fourier Transform Infra Red) dan SEM (Scanning Electron Microscope). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa efektifitas pengurangan mikroplastik yang dielektrokoagulasi menggunakan kombinasi pelat elektroda (Al-Fe), (Fe-Al-Fe), (Al-Fe-Al-Fe) berturut-turut adalah 82,5; 87,5; dan 90,0%. Semakin banyak jumlah pelat pada elektrokoagulasi mikroplastik dapat meningkatkan efektifitas pengurangan mikroplastik. Gugus fungsi yang terkandung dalam masker sebelum dan sesudah elektrokoagulasi mempunyai kemiripan dengan flok yang dihasilkan. Gumpalan Flok hasil elektrokoagulasi berbentuk variatif dan terdapat serat.Kata kunci: elektroda, elektrokoagulasi, masker, mikroplastik, pelat Fe-Al Application of variation in Al-Fe electrode plates to reduce microplastics in masks waste by electrocoagulationAbstract: This study investigates how the number of Fe-Al electrode plates affects electrocoagu-lation's effectiveness in decreasing mask waste microplastics. The sample in this study was medical mask waste. The mask is chipped into 1-5 mm pieces. The pieces of the mask are soaked in distilled water for seven days. Liquid-containing microplastics were electrocoagulated with a combination of Fe-Al, Fe-Al-Fe, and Fe-Al-Fe-Al electrode plates for 4 hours at an electric current of 2.5 A and a pH of 7.0. Microplastic fibers before and after electrocoagulation were observed with a forty-fold magnification microscope. Microplastic characterization was carried out using FTIR (Fourier Transform Infra Red) and SEM (Scanning Electron Microscope). The results showed that the effectiveness of electrocoagulation microplastics using a combination of electrode plates (Fe-Al), (Fe-Al-Fe), and (Fe-Al-Fe-Al) was 82.5, 85.0, and 87.5%, respectively. The efficiency of microplastic reduction can be improved by using more plates in microplastic electrocoagulation. The functional groups contained in the masks before and after electrocoagulation are similar to the flocs produced. Floc clumps resulting from electrocoagulation are varied in shape and contain fibers.Keywords: electrocoagulation, electrode, face mask, microplastic

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui karakter gugus fungsi masker bedah medis sebelum dan sesudah pelepasan mikroplastik, karakter flok ditinjau dari gugus fungsi dan kenampakan butiran flok dan pengaruh volume Na2SO4 0,01 M, pH dan waktu elektrokoagulasi terhadap efektivitas pengurangan konsentrasi mikroplastik dalam limbah masker bedah medis. Sampel penelitian ini adalah limbah masker bedah medis yang diambil mikroplastiknya dengan cara direndam dalam aquabidest selama ± 50 hari. Identifikasi mikroplastik dengan menganalisis spektrum FTIR. Elektrokoagulasi menggunakan elektroda Al-Fe-Al, arus 2,5 A dan jarak antar elektroda 2 cm dengan variasi volume Na2SO4 0,01 M, pH larutan dan waktu elektrokoagulasi. Efektivitas pengurangan konsentrasi mikroplastik setiap variasi dihitung dengan membandingkan jumlah serat sebelum dan sesudah elektrokoagulasi. Morfologi flok ditentukan dengan menganalisis kenampakan permukaan flok menggunakan SEM dan gugus fungsi flok menggunakan FTIR. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa karakterisasi menggunakan FTIR masker medis sebelum dan sesudah pelepasan mikroplastik serta flok terdapat gugus fungsi yang sama yaitu pada bilangan gelombang 611 cm-1 menunjukkan adanya serapan vibrasi fenil yang memperlihatkan bahwa terkandung monomer polipropilena (PP) dan bilangan gelombang 1165 cm-1 menunjukkan adanya gugus C-Cl yang memperlihatkan bahwa terkandung monomer polivinil klorida (PVC). Hasil SEM menunjukkan bahwa flok berbentuk serbuk berwarna putih dengan butiran flok renggang dan tidak kompak. Volume Na2SO4 0,01 M optimum 1 mL, pH optimum 6 dan waktu elektrokoagulasi optimum 4 jam dengan efektivitas pengurangan konsentrasi mikroplastik dalam limbah masker bedah medis sama yaitu 87,5%.

Abstract

Karangmalang and Kuningan are the area located near the campus ofYogyakarta State University and Gadjah Mada University. This causes the twoareas have crowded population. Many students from outside of Sleman Yogyakarta stay in many boarding houses that need laundry service since they do not have enough time and are very busy of studying activities. There are approximately 30 laundry service businesses in these areas. The condition has positive impact on local people income generating. However, it also cause adverse effects on the environment because of the laundry waste water directly discharged into the environment without prior treatment. The priority problem to solve is the disposal of waste water and dissemination of eco-friendly detergen. We had "Sekar Laundry" and "Ramadhani Laundry"as our partners in this programme. To achieve the objectives of the project we carried out the following methods: (1) socialization, counseling, and training for the introduction of ecofriendly detergents and simple sewage treatment; and (2) the application of appropriate technology of waste water treatment based on fitoremediation for both partners. The results obtained were in accordance with the purposes. We could overcome the environmental pollution caused by waste water of laundry activities. Based on laboratory tests, laundry waste water from the outlet of the Waste Water Treatment Plant (the WWTP) had significantly quality improvement that it made safer to be discharged into the environment, with 27,125% of BOD decline efficiency, 120,350% of COD decline efficiency, 17,300% of TSS decline efficiency, 11,597% of detergent decline efficiency, and 88% of phosphate decline efficiency

Abstract

The Barokah Women Farmers Group (KWT) in Nitiprayan, Bantul, has significant potential in producing herbal drinks made from spices. However, they face challenges related to product quality and variety, unattractive packaging, and limited marketing. Therefore, this activity aims to improve product quality and diversification, enhance packaging design, and expand marketing through social media. The training, conducted on September 13 and 20, 2025, included the creation of new herbal drinks, environmentally friendly packaging, and the application of digital marketing using WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok. The training results showed that 100% of members were able to produce new products and package them in more attractive designs, with quality improvements achieved by lowering the simplisia heating temperature from 70°C to 50°C. In addition, KWT Barokah now has social media accounts to support the marketing of their products. Pre-test and post-test evaluations showed a 48.5% increase in participants’ skills. Satisfaction surveys indicated that participants were very pleased with the activity and expressed interest in receiving further training and practice on additional topics. The program continues with ongoing mentoring to ensure the effective application of the knowledge gained. It is expected that this activity can increase the competitiveness of KWT Barokah’s products and have a positive impact on the economic welfare of group members.

Abstract

Penelitian di laboratorium yang semakin berkembang menghasilkan limbah berbahaya yang mengandung logam berat. Metode analisis untuk penentuan logam tersebut yaitu voltametri siklik dengan elektroda grafit termodifikasi polikurkumin. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui karakteristik elektroda grafit termodifikasi polikurkumin (GECUR) secara elektrokimia, gugus fungsi, dan morfologi permukaan; mengetahui validitas metode voltametri menggunakan GECUR; dan mengetahui aplikasi GECUR pada limbah cair laboratorium. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kondisi optimum pada 90 detik dan pH 5. GECUR menunjukkan peningkatan kualitas transfer elektron dan luas area elektroaktif, serta menunjukkan permukaan yang lebih tebal. Jenis interaksi Cu2+ yaitu difusi dan Zn2+ adsorbsi. Rentang konsentrasi linear Cu2+ dan Zn2+ yaitu 22,61 – 545,97 dan 7,14 – 553,91 µM (konsentrasi rendah) serta 618,88 – 864,52 dan 597,74 – 852,84 µM (konsentrasi tinggi). Linearitas Cu2+ dan Zn2+ yaitu 0,9988 dan 0,9977 (konsentrasi rendah) serta 0,9964 dan 0,9711 (konsentrasi tinggi). Sensitivitas Cu2+ dan Zn2+ yaitu 0,8731 dan 0,3536 µA/µM (konsentrasi rendah) serta 2,4753 dan 0,8063 µA/µM (konsentrasi tinggi). Batas deteksi Cu2+ dan Zn2+ yaitu 26,51 dan 36,98 µM. Batas kuantitasi Cu2+ dan Zn2+ yaitu 80,33 dan 112,08 µM. Rata-rata akurasi Cu2+ dan Zn2+ yaitu 94% dan 99%. Presisi Cu2+ dan Zn2+ yaitu 2% dan 11%. Aplikasi GECUR pada sampel limbah diperoleh akurasi rata-rata 97%.

Abstract

The dyes used in the textile industry generate substantial waste, posing significant environmental hazards. Because textile industries discharge large amounts of effluents, it is essential to develop effective methods to reduce the presence of reactive textile dyes. This work evaluated the removal of Direct Black 38 (DB-38) using the bare graphite electrode (GE) modified by copper oxide to form a graphite/Cu/Cu-oxide (GE/Cu/Cu-oxide). The electrode was prepared by electrodeposition. Electro-degradation of 50 ppm DB-38 dye was conducted at different applied potentials, reaction times, and CaCl2 concentrations as supporting electrolytes. The X-ray diffraction patterns showed the highest peak at 2θ = 36.55, corresponding to graphite/Cu2O, and at 2θ = 38.73, corresponding to graphite/CuO. The GE/Cu/Cu-oxide electrode is eleven times more reactive than bare graphite. The GE/Cu/Cu-oxide electrode achieved a 99.08% electro-degradation efficiency of DB-38, with a reduction of 97.50% in COD, and 40.60% in TDS after 60 minutes, when 0.03 M CaCl2 was used as the supporting electrolyte at a potential 12 V. Thus, the proposed process demonstrated promising results for dye treatment in various aqueous matrices, utilizing low-cost, readily available electrodes that have not been previously applied for this purpose.

Abstract

Kemampuan berpikir kritis dan keterampilan komunikasi merupakan bagian penting dari kompetensi abad ke-21, terutama dalam pembelajaran kimia. Namun, kemampuan ini masih rendah pada siswa SMA, sehingga memengaruhi pemahaman konsep dan penyampaian informasi ilmiah. Diperlukan strategi pembelajaran yang efektif untuk meningkatkan kedua kemampuan tersebut. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui pengaruh strategi pembelajaran REACT terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis dan keterampilan komunikasi siswa pada materi laju reaksi. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode quasi experiment dan desain post-test only. Subjek terdiri atas dua kelas di SMA Negeri 1 Pleret: kelas eksperimen (35 siswa) dan kelas kontrol (34 siswa). Instrumen yang digunakan adalah tes kemampuan berpikir kritis dan lembar observasi keterampilan komunikasi. Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan uji One Way MANOVA dan Test of Between-Subjects Effects berdasarkan nilai partial eta squared. Hasil menunjukkan perbedaan signifikan antara kelas eksperimen dan kontrol terhadap kedua variabel. Nilai signifikansi MANOVA sebesar 0,000 ( 0,05) dengan partial eta squared 0,998 menunjukkan pengaruh besar. Uji lanjut menunjukkan pengaruh signifikan terhadap berpikir kritis (η² = 0,705) dan komunikasi (η² = 0,344). Strategi REACT terbukti efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis dan keterampilan komunikasi siswa dalam pembelajaran kimia.
