Abstract

Eighth-grade EFL students often struggle with narrative writing due to unstructured ideas, limited vocabulary, and disengagement with traditional teaching methods. To address this, the study explores the use of comic strips as a visual and interactive instructional tool to enhance narrative writing skills. This quasi-experimental study used a non-equivalent pre-test and post-test control group design. Sixty purposively selected students were divided into experimental and control groups. The experimental group was taught narrative writing using comic strips, while the control group received conventional instruction. A 20-item narrative writing test was administered before and after the intervention. Data were analyzed through validity and reliability checks, tests for normality and homogeneity, and hypothesis testing using either an independent t-test or Mann–Whitney U test, depending on the data distribution. The experimental group showed statistically significant improvements in narrative writing performance, particularly in idea development, coherence, and creativity. The control group displayed only marginal progress. These results suggest that comic strips effectively support the organization of narrative structure and enhance expression. The findings underscore the pedagogical value of comic strips as a multimodal instructional medium. Their visual nature facilitates idea generation and supports narrative coherence, leading to more confident and creative student writing. Comic strips can be a valuable addition to EFL writing instruction. Teachers are encouraged to integrate this medium to improve students’ narrative writing skills and overall engagement.

Abstract

Premarital sexual behavior is a teenage problem that gets a lot of attention globally. This study aims to determine premarital sexual behavior in adolescents in terms of family conditions and sources of sexuality information. Family conditions can be seen from several indicators, including based on caregivers, primary caregivers, place of residence and family integrity. The researcher developed a scale based on sexual behavior, specifically touching, kissing, making out (petting), and having sex (coitus). The respondents of this study were teenagers in Sikka Regency, totaling 348 people with an age range of 12–18 years. Data analysis was performed using descriptive statistics. This study found that premarital sexual behavior in adolescents in Sikka Regency was enough high at 82%. Other findings show that the highest premarital sexual behavior in adolescents occurs in adolescents who are cared for by grandparents, while the main caregivers who are most at risk are those whose children are cared for by other families, living in boarding houses with orphaned conditions. Another condition is that teenagers who are most vulnerable to sexual behavior are teenagers who get sexual information from the media.

Abstract

kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat dilakukan di SDK Nangapanda 1. Tujuan dari kegitan ini untuk meningkatakan pemahaman siswa tentang sistem tata surya melalui video pembelajaran. PKM ini mendorong semangat peserta didik dalam mata pelajaran IPA serta meningkatkan kemampuan mengajar dan kreatifitas mahasiswa dalam membuat vido pembelajaran yang menarik dan menyenangkan. Kegiatan dilakasanakan di kelas VI dengan jumlah siswa sebanyak 24 orang. Hal ini juga bertujuan untuk meningkatkan aktifitas, kretifitas dan hasil belajar ipa siswa dengan menerapkan metode video pembelajaran agar siswa lebih aktif dan bersemangat dalam menerima dan mengikuti pembelajaran. Materi pokok pada kegitan ini adalah tentang sistem tata surya ( susunan tata surya, nama – nama planet, dan alat praga gambar tata surya). Dari kegiatan ini guru perlu menerapkan metode pembelajaran yang dapat mendorong keterlibatan dalam pemebelajaran yaitu metode video based learning.

Abstract

Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) merupakan penelitian yang dapat diakukan guru daam ragka memperbaiki proses-proses pembelajaran untuk mencapai tujuan yang diinginkan. Pelaksanaan PTK sangat relevan dengan fungsi serang guru sebagai pendidik, pegajar, pembimbing, pelatih, dan evaluator ketercapaian hasil belajar siswa. Dalam konteks ini, PTK dipandang sebagai bentuk penelitian peningkatan kualitas pembelajaran yang paling tepat, karena selain sebagai peneliti guru juga bertindak sebagai pelaksana proses pembelajaran, sehingga tahu betul permasalahan yang dihadapi dan kondisi ideal yang ingin dicapai. Metode yang digunakan, yaitu melakukan serangkaian kegiatan In Service Training (IST) dan On Service Training (OST). Hasil kegiatan pengabdian secara umum, yaitu para guru peserta kegiatan telah paham dan terampil dalam melaksanakan penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK), serta para guru telah terampil dalam menyusun karya ilmiah (format artikel). Hal ini terlihat dari produk artikel yang telah dihasilkan guru peserta.

Abstract

Elementary schools are the primary target of this PKM because science learning needs to be adapted to the characteristics of student development through creative approaches and innovative media. This activity aims to improve elementary school students' scientific literacy through creative learning based on innovation and environmentally friendly technology. Initial observations at SDI Tongatey showed low student understanding of the digestive system, the sense of hearing, and biotic and abiotic components due to limited interesting and contextual learning media. The methods applied included developing teaching media, demonstrating simple teaching aids made from recycled materials, utilizing digital applications such as Assembler, Zep, and Worldwall, and mentoring through observation and discussion. The results of the activity showed an 80% increase in conceptual understanding, marked by students' ability to explain the digestive process, ear structure, and biotic-abiotic differences, accompanied by increased student enthusiasm and activeness. In addition, teachers acquired new skills in the use of digital media and environmentally friendly technology. Overall, this program effectively increased elementary school students' scientific literacy and learning motivation.
