Abstract

The study of music in tourist destinations has been developed in recent years in Europe, the United States, and Asia. However, previous studies overlook the role of traditional music in urban tourism destinations, specifically in Indonesia. Music is essential to promote an urban destination, build destination image, lighten tourists’ mood, as well as create and improve experience values during destination visits. The present study aims to explore further tourist motivation and perception who watch angklung performances in Malioboro, Yogyakarta. It is also consistent that Yogyakarta is a popular destination for its culture and arts. The way how music affects tourist motivation and perception requires further investigation. Data was collected quantitatively by online survey, observation, as well as and interview to validate findings. The results show that there is a positive and significant influence among tourist motivation and perception of angklung performances, as a tourist attraction. Moreover, a lack of collaboration occurs between angklung players, destination managers, and stakeholders. This study suggests holistic information in terms of tourist motivation and perception towards musical performances within the urban destination, and practical implications for future research, as well as management of tourism destination development.

Abstract

The Adhoc On-Demand Distance Vector (AODV) protocol faces challenges in selecting the best relay nodes, which requires optimization to improve performance in Vehicular ad-hoc networks (VANETs). This study aims to enhance Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) communication in VANETs by implementing the Learning Automata-Driven Ad-hoc On-Demand Distance Vector (LA-AODV) routing protocol. LA-AODV is designed to achieve higher packet delivery ratios and optimize data transfer rates, even under congested network conditions, by dynamically adjusting to changing network scenarios. The performance evaluation includes six key metrics analyzed under varying node densities and time intervals, comparing LA-AODV against the standard AODV protocol. Results indicate that LA-AODV consistently outperforms AODV, demonstrating improved efficiency in flood identifier management, reduced data loss, higher packet delivery ratios, better throughput, and reduced end-to-end delay and jitter. Specifically, under a 20-node scenario, LA-AODV exhibits lower flood ID scores (54 vs. 88), reduced packet loss (11% vs. 12%), higher PDR (88.0% vs. 87.0%), and superior throughput (85.34 Kbps vs. 47.26 Kbps). Additionally, LA-AODV achieves lower end-to-end delay (6.84E+09 ns vs. 3.76E+10 ns) and jitter (2.52E+09 ns vs. 2.15E+10 ns). These findings suggest that LA-AODV significantly enhances Quality of Service (QoS) in vehicular ad-hoc networks, positioning it as a promising solution for optimizing V2V communication performance.

Abstract

Gudeg manggar is known to be one of the traditional foods of interest in Bantul Regency. Gudeg manggar is also known to be unique due to its rarity, making it a culinary with a higher value than other culinary delights. This research aims to find causes of the scarcity of gudeg manggar as a culinary tourism supply. This research used a qualitative method with semi-structured interviews with three gudeg manggar producers. The results show that the scarcity of gudeg manggar as a culinary tourism supply in Bantul Regency occurs due to several factors. Natural factors are often used in answering the availability of ingredients. However, it is not the only cause; cultural factors in the community cause raw materials to become scarce and more valuable. This research can be a consideration in determining how gudeg manggar is marketed as culinary tourism in Bantul Regency.

Abstract

Abstract

Sustainable Tourism Development (STD) consists of three dimensions known as environment, economic and social. Although these three dimensions influence each other and cannot stand on their own, and are assumed to be supportive to each other and compatible. However, most studies focus on the environmental and economic dimensions. The social dimension gains less attention and is difficult to attain and operationalize. In order to implement a balanced and successful STD, it needs to be supported by all the tourism stakeholder, including the tourist itself. Therefore, it is necessary to explore the social dimension of STDs and also tourist behavior regarding their social conscious. However, the discussions and understanding of social dimension in STD and socially conscious behavior are still limited. This study aims to define a clear understanding and definition of social dimension of STD which in this study is referred as social sustainability and also a socially conscious tourist. Starting with exploring the aspect of social dimensions formulation and exploring clear definitions of social dimensions of STD's and socially conscious tourist. This study is an exploratory study that aims to explore the boundaries of social dimension of STD and to develop a construct of socially responsible tourist. This study is a qualitative approaches, which includes systematic literature review and Delphi method to obtain expert judgment to gather social dimension aspects of sustainable development, especially in STD. The results of this study are social dimension’s aspects of STD, an understanding of social sustainability and socially conscious tourist in STD.
