Abstract

The effect of enrichment bias on the diversity of Dibenzofuran (DBF)-degrading bacteria recovered from soil was evaluated by direct plating, plating after in-soil adaptation, and plating after batch culture enrichment. Among colonies appeared on Bushnell Haas agar with DBF as the sole carbon source, 119 colonies (49, 38, and 32 from direct plating, plating after in-soil adaptation, and plating after batch culture enrichment, respectively) were arbitrarily selected based on the appearance of the colonies. Total DNA were then extracted from the rest of the colonies and analyzed for their diversity using Ribosomal Intergenic Spacer Analysis (RISA). Number of DNA bands obtained from direct plating was higher than the ones obtained after in-soil enrichment and batch culture enrichment. The RISA bands obtained from direct plating were also found to be distributed more evenly than the ones obtained after in-soil enrichment and batch culture enrichment. Dominant bands were observed on RISA from samples obtained after in-soil enrichment and batch culture enrichment. Out of 119, only 9 isolates were consistently able to grow on Bushnell-Haas broth with DBF as the sole carbon source as indicated by broth turbidity. All of the isolates were obtained from soil samples which were enriched in a batch culture. Some of the isolates were able to degrade more then 80 % DBF in the minimal medium.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan instrumen penilaian kinerja untuk mengukur kompetensi siswa dalam kegiatan praktikum kimia di SMA/K. Metode yang digunakan adalah Research and Development (R & D), yang terdiri atas tahap pengembangan, validasi, dan uji coba terbatas. Pengembangan instrumen diawali dengan analisis kebutuhan menggunakan metode triangulasi, yaitu wawancara, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Uji coba terbatas dilakukan di SMA N 4 Samarinda dan SMK Farmasi Samarinda. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa instrumen penilaian kinerja memiliki validitas logis, isi, dan empiris yang baik, serta memiliki validitas konstruk yang baik (r > 0,3), memiliki reliabilitas konsistensi eksternal dan internal yang sangat baik (rata-rata koefisien reliabilitas = 0,933) dan memiliki praktikabilitas yang sangat baik (respon positif sebesar 90%). Instrumen penilaian kinerja yang dikembangkan dapat mengukur 4 kompetensi dasar siswa dalam melakukan kegiatan praktikum, yaitu: merencanakan,  melaksanakan, partisipasi, dan evaluasi, yang terbagi dalam 3 jenis instrumen penilaian, yaitu instrumen penilaian kegiatan pre–lab, praktikum, dan laporan.

Abstract

The transformation on the industrial era 4.0 has greatly influenced changes in the way students learn who are more dominantly use gadgets both online and offline. This research aims to develop an e-Learning XHTML Editor (EXE) learning media which is feasible to be used in chemistry learning on the topic of Chemical Bonding, and also to test the validity and practicality of the media. The study used a research and development (R & D) design by adapting Hannafin and Peck’s model. The steps are limited to the design of EXE learning media. The feasibility of the EXE learning media is tested in terms of validity and practicality. The instrument used are validation questionnaire and students’ response questionnaire. The data were obtained and analyzed by using descriptive percentage. The results of the feasibility test conducted by the material experts, media experts, and teachers obtained an average of 89% with very feasible category. Meanwhile, the practicality test was obtained from the results of students’ response questionnaire from SMAN 8 Samarinda and SMAN 3 Tenggarong, showing the practicality value is 87% with the category of very practice and easy to operate and useful. It means the EXE learning media is feasible and practice to be used as chemistry learning media on the topic of Chemistry Bonding.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan isu sosiosaintifik dalam penerapan model pembelajaran berbasis masalah (PBM) terhadap keterampilan berpikir tingkat tinggi siswa kelas X MAN 1 Samarinda pada pokok bahasan Hukum-hukum Dasar Kimia. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode quasi eksperimental, dengan jenis rancangan penelitian pretest-posttest control group design. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas X IPA MAN 1 Samarinda tahun ajaran 2018/2019 yang berjumlah 106 siswa, yang terbagi ke dalam 3 kelas. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan teknik cluster random sampling dan dipilih 2 kelas sebagai kelas kontrol dan kelas eksperimen, yang masing-masing berjumlah 28 siswa. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah tes berupa soal pretest dan posttest untuk mengukur keterampilan berpikir tingkat tinggi siswa. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis dengan menggunakan uji-t. Hasil analisis statistik menunjukkan nilai thitung = 3,072 > ttabel = 1,673 (α= 0,05), yang berarti Ha diterima dan Ho ditolak. Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan isu sosiosaintifik dalam model PBM berpengaruh terhadap peningkatan keterampilan berpikir tingkat tinggi siswa.

Abstract

Cell disruption and extraction processes are very important downstream processing steps in microalgae-based in industrial bioprocesses. Each type of microalgae has a varied cell wall structure, so it is necessary to optimize an effective and economical cell disruption method to maximize the extraction process. This study aimed to evaluate several cell disruption methods, including: osmotic shock method (NaCl 20% w/v), acid method (HCl 3M), and microwave (450W, 5 min) for lipid extraction for Porphyridium cruentum biomass. Lipid extraction was carried out using n-hexane as solvent. Among several tested methods, the highest yield of lipid extraction was obtained by using acid method (8.15 ± 0.12% w/w), while the microwave method only produced lipids of 2.79 ± 0.37% w/w, and the lowest yield was obtained by using osmotic shock (1.07 ± 0.44 % w/w). The acid method is a very simple method for disruption of P. cruentum cells, because it does not involve the use of expensive equipment. Therefore, this method is considered efficient and economical for use in the extraction process of lipid or other biomolecule compounds.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengukur hubungan signifikan antara pemahaman konsep ikatan kimia dengan hasil belajar kimia siswa pada materi larutan elektrolit. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian korelasional. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas X SMAS Nabil Husein Samarinda tahun ajaran 2018/2019 yang berjumlah 60 siswa. Sampel dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 40 siswa, yang diambil menggunakan teknik simple random sampling. Teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan teknik tes, yaitu tes pemahaman konsep siswa dan tes evaluasi hasil belajar. Data dianalisis menggunakan uji linier regresi, uji korelasi product moment pearson dan uji hipotesis berupa uji t. Berdasarkan analisis data, diperoleh hasil bahwa ada hubungan signifikan antara pemahaman konsep ikatan kimia siswa dengan hasil belajar kimia siswa pada pokok bahasan larutan elektrolit, yang ditunjukkan dengan nilai korelasi sebesar 0,410 dengan interpretasi koefisien korelasi sedang dan nilai signifikansi uji t (0,009 < 0,05).

Abstract

The aim of this study was to determine the influence of sosioscientific issues in discovery learning model toward critical thinking skills of students on the subject matter of acid-base. The research method used was quasi experimental, with the type of research design was posttest only control group design. The population in this study was all students of class XI MIPA SMAN 13 Samarinda in the 2018/2019 school year, amounting to 66 students, which were divided into 2 classes. The samples were taken using saturated sampling technique. The technique used to measure critical thinking skills of students was post-test technique in form of essay test. Data were analyzed by normality test, homogeneity test, and independent sample t-test. The results showed the average posttest score in the control class was 72.06 (good category) and the experimental class was 79.36 (good category). Statistical analysis using t-test showed tcount, 3.15 > ttable, 1.66, which means that there was an influence of the use of sosioscientific issues in the discovery learning model toward critical thinking skills of students on the subject matter of acid-base.

Abstract

Learning loss due to online learning during the Covid-19 pandemic has occurred at all levels of education, from primary to secondary education. The purpose of this literature review is to discuss the implementation of the blended learning to overcome the symptoms of learning loss at the elementary (SD) to secondary (SMP and SMA) levels. This study aplies the literature review method to synthesize several published articles relating to the application of the blended learning at the elementary, junior, and high school levels. The results of the literature study were then analyzed to determine the benefits of the blended learning to overcome the symptoms of learning loss. The results of the study confirm that the blended learning can encourage students to study independently, motivate students by utilizing internet-based technology, as well as increase student learning activities and make it easier for students to find various learning materials from virtual sources. The implementation of blended learning is able to balance the collaboration between online and offline (face-to-face) learning that mutually reinforce each other to improve student learning outcomes that have not been achieved due to learning loss at all levels of education.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan media evaluasi quizizz terhadap hasil belajar siswa kelas XI MAN 2 Samarinda pada materi larutan asam dan basa. Jenis penelitian adalah eksperimen semu (quasi experiment design) dengan desain penelitian posttests only control design. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan tenik cluster random sampling. Kelas XI IPA 2 sebagai kelas eksperimen yang menggunakan media quizizz dan kelas XI IPA 3 sebagai kelas kontrol tanpa menggunakan media quizizz. Teknik analisis data menggunakan uji normalitas, uji F dan uji t independent sample T Tes. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata hasil belajar pada kelas eksperimen yaitu 79 lebih tinggi dari kelas kontrol yaitu 76. Hasil analisis uji normalitas, uji F dan uji t independent sample T Test setelah perlakuan tidak terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara hasil belajar siswa pada kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Sehingga dapat ditarik kesimpulan bahwa tidak terdapat pengaruh penggunaan media evaluasi quizizz terhadap hasil belajar siswa kelas XI MAN 2 Samarinda pada materi larutan asam dan basa.Kata kunci: Media Evaluasi, Hasil Belajar, Larutan Asam dan Basa
