Abstract

Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Indonesia continue to grow positively, with government support helping to revive the economy since the Covid-19 pandemic. To further MSME development, a community engagement program was conducted to provide guidance and solutions for the challenges faced by the Otak-Otak Bandeng Amanah business in Mojokerto. The study used a descriptive research method with a qualitative approach, collecting data through semi-structured interviews, observation, and social media analysis of Otak-Otak Bandeng Amanah. Key challenges identified included limited local awareness of the business, difficulty for new customers to locate it, less appealing product photos on GrabFood and GoFood, and the absence of cashless payment options. Implemented solutions included expanding customer reach through Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok promotions, creating banners and signage, improving product photos, and providing QRIS for cashless payments. Recommendations included ongoing mentoring for other businesses to optimize digital media management.

Abstract

Purpose – This study investigates the relationship between Islamic work ethic, job satisfaction, and employee engagement, with transformational leadership as a moderating variable. It aims to assess whether job satisfaction mediates the impact of Islamic work ethic on engagement and if transformational leadership enhances these effects. The research offers insights into how ethical values and leadership styles influence employee engagement at Brangkal Printing. Method – A quantitative approach with a cross-sectional survey design was used, involving all 75 employees at Brangkal Printing through total sampling. Data were gathered using a likert-scale questionnaire to measure Islamic work ethic, job satisfaction, transformational leadership, and employee engagement. The data analysis technique used in this study is partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM). Findings – The results reveal that the Islamic work ethic does not directly influence employee engagement but positively impacts job satisfaction, which enhances engagement, confirming the mediating role of job satisfaction. Transformational leadership directly affects engagement but does not significantly moderate the relationships examined. Implications – This research highlights the significance of the Islamic work ethic in improving job satisfaction and engagement while highlighting the context-dependent nature of transformational leadership. It extends existing theories by emphasizing the influence of cultural and ethical values on workplace behavior. Organizations should enhance job satisfaction through a supportive work environment, fair compensation, and career development. Integrating Islamic values into leadership strategies can optimize employee motivation, commitment, and engagement, leading to better performance.

The findings reveal that POS has a significant positive influence on EE. Moreover, the results demonstrate that employee experience strengthens the relationship between POS and EE, suggesting that improvements in employee experience can further enhance the positive effect of POS on employee engagement. This study highlights the critical role of fostering POS and enhancing employee experience as effective strategies to boost employee engagement in logistics companies.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of business sustainability as a mediating variable in the relationship between working capital and digital technology on the competitiveness of SMEs in Indonesia. The study is motivated by the growing awareness of the importance of sustainable business practices amidst dynamic market challenges and global environmental pressures. Using a quantitative approach and path cici4d analysis techniques based on Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM), data were collected from 200 SMES actors in the halal fashion and food sectors through structured questionnaires. The findings indicate that business sustainability acts as a significant mediator, strengthening the indirect influence of working capital and digital technology on competitiveness. These results affirm that sustainability is not merely a social responsibility, but a strategic resource that enhances the competitive position of SMEs. The adoption of digital technology and efficient working capital management will yield stronger competitive advantages when directed cici4d toward sustainability goals. This research contributes to the SMES literature and offers practical insights for business actors and policymakers in designing sustainable and competitive business strategies.

Abstract

Research aim: This study examines the relationships between strategic flexibility, behaviour innovation, Employee engagement, Job satisfaction, and employee Performance within SMES in the clothing sector in East Java. It also provides empirical evidence of causal interactions among these variables. Method: An explanatory approach was employed with a sample of 160 employees from SMES in Bangkalan, Sidoarjo, Tulungagung, and Mojokerto, selected via cluster sampling. Data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire and analysed using PLS-SEM with Smartpls 4. Research Finding: The findings show that strategic flexibility positively and significantly influences employee Performance and Job satisfaction. Behaviour innovation negatively impacts employee Performance but positively affects Job satisfaction. Employee engagement positively influences employee Performance but is not significant for Job satisfaction. Job satisfaction partially mediates the relationship between strategic flexibility and employee Performance and fully mediates the relationship between behaviour innovation and employee Performance. Theoretical contribution: This study challenges existing assumptions about the link between Employee engagement and Job satisfaction, expanding understanding in the context of SMES. Practical implication: The findings suggest that SME managers should enhance strategic flexibility and focus on Job satisfaction to improve employee Performance while carefully managing behaviour innovation. Research Limitations: This study has several limitations. First, the study was only conducted on MSMES in the clothing sector in East Java. Second, the data collection method used a Likert-scale questionnaire. Third, the quantitative approach with PLS-SEM provides an understanding of causal relationships but does not explore other factors that may play a role.
