Abstract

Background: Sleep quality during pregnancy decreases significantly as pregnancy progresses. Poor sleep quality can be addressed with various methods, including aromatherapy as a relaxation technique. Chamomile aromatherapy contains compounds that increase gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) receptor activity, thereby promoting muscle relaxation and inducing sleepiness. This study aims to assess improvement in sleep quality in third-trimester pregnant women after receiving chamomile aromatherapy.  Methods: This study used a pre-experimental one-group pretest–posttest design. The sample consisted of 30 participants, all of whom were pregnant women in their third trimester. Data were collected using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) questionnaire and an observation sheet. The chamomile aromatherapy intervention was administered before bedtime for 14 consecutive days by adding three drops of chamomile essential oil to a humidifier containing 100 ml of water, which was diffused for 10 minutes.  Results: A total of 53.3% of respondents had poor sleep quality before the chamomile aromatherapy intervention, which increased to 53.3% with excellent sleep quality after the intervention. The results of the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test showed a statistically significant improvement in sleep quality (p = <0.001). The Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test showed a significant improvement in sleep quality (p = <0.001).  Conclusion: Chamomile aromatherapy significantly improves sleep quality in third trimester pregnant women. Health workers, especially midwives and nurses, should provide education and guidance on the safe use of chamomile aromatherapy.

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

Infant development is a crucial Element of a kid’s maturation and progress encompassing motor, language, social, and cognitive skills. Early stimulation, such as infant massage, can stimulate the core neurological framework manages essential physiological processes and accelerate the achievement of age-appropriate developmental milestones. This research intended to evaluate the effect of infant massage on babies' development aged three months. The study employed a semi-experimental approach utilizing a before-and-after evaluation with a comparison group structure. The participants were made up of 70 3-month-old infants, divided into two groups: 35 in the therapy cluster at Balowerti Community Health Center and 35 in the control group at Sukorame Public Wellness Facility. The selection method applied was purposive sampling. The intervention provided to the treatment group consisted of 15 minutes of infant massage twice a week for four weeks, performed by trained mothers. The control group received only standard developmental monitoring care. Developmental data were measured using the Pre-Developmental Screening Questionnaire (KPSP). Analysis used the Mann-Whitney U Test and the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. The findings indicated a notable improvement in developmental metrics among the intervention group (mean increased from 5.49 to 7.06; Z = -4.326; p = 0.000), Meanwhile, the control group exhibited no substantial variation (p = 0.343). Regular infant massage is effective in improving the development of 3-month-old infants. Massage can be incorporated into a family-based early stimulation program.

Abstract

Stunting is a severe form of malnutrition and causes a person's weight to drop significantly quickly. In Keniten Village, RT/RW 001/004, cases of stunting among toddlers were found. This community service aims to increase the knowledge of mothers of toddlers about toddler nutrition and innovations in how to process food sourced from local wisdom, namely moringa leaves, which have high nutritional value. This community service activity was carried out in 1 meeting. This activity begins with counseling about toddler nutrition to mothers of toddlers, lasting 30 minutes. Then, the activity will continue with a Moringa Nugget cooking demonstration, which will last 30 minutes. This activity was attended by 17 mothers of toddlers and their toddlers. The cooking demonstration activity starts with preparing the tools and ingredients needed and then practicing how to process moringa leaves into Moringa nuggets. The results of the interviews and post-tests showed an increase in the understanding and skills of mothers of toddlers regarding understanding of children's nutrition, as well as innovations in processing additional food from local moringa leaves into Moringa nuggets. Suggestions for further community service activities include developing additional food processing innovations that are more diverse based on local ingredients often found in the surrounding area.

Abstract

One cause of colostrum discharge in caesarean section delivery is the implementation of early initiation of breastfeeding (IMD). The study's objective was to investigate the relationship between the implementation of IMD caesarean section delivery and colostrum discharge. The study design was cross-sectional , the population was 50 mothers who underwent caesarean section delivery , sampling using systematic sampling techniques , the number of respondents was 34 people according to the inclusion criteria. The research instruments were questionnaires and observations, then analyzed using Chi-square correlation. and it was found that χ2 count was 5.37 , with a p-value of 0.02 (<0.05), a moderate relationship of 0.37. It was found that the implementation of I MD with an optimal duration (more than 60 minutes) in caesarean section delivery can play a role in accelerating the release of colostrum (less than 24 hours).
