Abstract

Abstract

Cases of prolonged labor in women in the world are still quite high. Inadequate uterine contractions are the main cause of complications in women's deaths worldwide. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of Phoenix Dactylifera on the length of labor in the active phase of the first stage. This research was carried out through a Quasi-Experimental design Quasi-Experimental. The 60 participants were divided into 2 groups, the intervention group (30 participants) and control (30 participants) at the Kediri Regency Health Center. Sampling uses simple random sampling. The intervention group was given 70 grams of phoenix dactylifera fruit daily from 37 weeks of gestation until labor, while the control group was given standard care. The results of the Paired t-test, the average length of labor in the first stage of the active phase in the intervension group (m=90.57, SD=56.507) p-value 0.000, and the control group (m= 271.33, SD=151.361) p-value 0.100. The difference in the average of the two groups is tested using an independent t-test. The difference in mean length of labor in the first stage of the active phase posttest in the intervention vs. the control group (m=90.57, SD=56.507vs m=271.33, SD=151.361) p-value 0.000. The difference in length of labor in the first stage of the active phase in the two groups was 180.76 minutes/ (3 hours 36 minutes). The Phoenix Dactylifera can shorten duration of the active phase of labor in the first stage of labor. It is recommended for health workers to give phoenix Dactylifera at the right dose to pregnant women in the third trimester to increase stamina during pregnancy and good uterine contractions.

Abstract

Background: Gross motoric skills are essential abilities during preschool children's development, involving significant body movements such as running, jumping, and maintaining balance. One traditional Indonesian game, called “engklek”, is believed to support the development of children's gross motor skills. A lack of gross motor stimulation can negatively impact the child's growth and development. Therefore, it is crucial for parents, teachers, and guardians to ensure children engage in activities that stimulate gross motoric skills. Method: This study employed a pre-experimental design, specifically using a one-group pre-test and post-test design. The population consisted of 39 preschool children, with 36 respondents randomly selected through simple random sampling. The instrument used in this study was the traditional game of ”engklek” to collect data, with pre-tests and post-tests conducted to measure the respondents' ability to lift their legs according to their age. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test, with significant results (p < 0.005).Results: The final results showed that stimulation using the traditional “engklek” game positively impacted the gross motor development of preschool children aged 5 to 6 years at Al-Amin Kindergarten in Kediri City. Discussion: This study will highlight the importance of paying attention to gross motor stimulation in preschool children, including through traditional games like “engklek”. It will also emphasize the need to monitor children's gross motor development according to their age to ensure optimal progress

Abstract

The high number of midwife graduates each year has led to an increase in unemployment in Indonesia, making it necessary to find ways to overcome this high unemployment rate. High unemployment will become a problem in itself in economic terms, leading to poverty and other social problems. Therefore, alternatives are needed to create businesses that will open up job opportunities for oneself and others through entrepreneurship. One such alternative is to become an entrepreneur by fostering an interest in entrepreneurship. Students' interest in entrepreneurship can be influenced by self-efficacy. To start and run a business, one needs the confidence that they will succeed. Self-efficacy can influence interest in entrepreneurship. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship of self-efficacy with student entrepreneurial interest. This research is a cross-sectional approach, with a population of 90 people, then obtained a sample of 73 people using a proportionate stratified random sampling technique. The population of this study were students of the 2020 and 2021 Applied Bachelor's Degree Program of Midwifery in Kediri. Data obtained from questionnaires and analyzed univariately and bivariately with the Spearman Rank statistical test. Most of the students who have self-efficacy was in the middle level which was with a percentage of 58.9% and the students who have an interest in entrepreneurship was mostly in the high level with a percentage of 54.8%. From the results of statistical tests, there is a correlation (p <0.05) between self-efficacy with interest in student entrepreneurship with a moderate correlation (r = 0.534). Students' interest in entrepreneurship will increase if they have high self-efficacy. It is expected that students of the Applied Bachelor's Degree Program of Midwifery in Kediri can increase self-efficacy as an effective strategy for the stimulation of interest and entrepreneurship.

Abstract

During pregnancy, the body's need for oxygen increases, causing an increase in erythropoietin production. An increase in plasma volume has an effect on fluid retention and blood dilution in pregnancy, causing a decrease in hematocrit, causing a decrease in Hb concentration and causing anemia. One possible impact is hampering fetal growth and development. The development of the fetus in the womb can be monitored by estimating the fetus's weight to detect fetal growth abnormalities early. This study aimed to understand the correlation between anemia in pregnant women and estimated fetal weight in the working area of the Sambi Health Center, Kediri Regency. The design of the study was cross-sectional, with a sample of 34 pregnant women with anemia. The sampling technique applied consecutive sampling. The instruments of the study were met line, Sysmex hematology analyzer and observation sheet. The results of this study were analyzed using the Kendall Tau test, and obtained a ρ value of 0.03˂α 0.05, namely H0 was rejected so that there was a correlation between anemia in pregnant women and the estimated weight of the fetus in the working area of the Sambi Community Health Center, Kediri Regency. When a pregnant woman experiences anemia, it results in disturbances in metabolism and exchange of substances in the tissues, then the placenta shrinks, resulting in a decrease in the transfer of important nutrients for the growth and development of the fetus. The impact of this situation is a slowdown in fetal growth which results in a low estimated fetal weight.

Abstract

The high prevalence of depression in developed and developing countries requires a relevant intervention to suppress its incidence. Mindfulness-based intervention is given online as a new complementary intervention that can help reduce symptoms of depression. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of online mindfulness-based interventions in reducing depressive symptoms in pregnancy. This research method used a randomized control trial, with 66 participants consisting of the mindfulness-based Intervention (MBI) group of 33 participants and the control group of 33 participants. The MBI intervention was provided for eight weeks online. The study uses simple random sampling. Depression was assessed using DASS 42. Data were tested using the Mann-Whitney U Test and t-test and processed with SPSS version 23. The results showed that there was a significant decrease in depression levels in the online MBI group after being given intervention compared to the control group (7.55 ± 2.181 vs 11.00 ± 2.345) p=0.000. Mindfulness-based intervention online can reduce depressive symptoms in pregnant women, so that the intervention becomes a feasible, cheap and easy intervention for pregnant women in improving mental health. In the future, this research can develop other types of complementary interventions to improve maternal and fetal health.
