Abstract

Guna memperbesar daya tahan rambat api pada kayu lapis, dilakukan pelaburan venir muka (face) dan belakang (back) menggunakan natrium silikat pada konsentrasi 30%, 40% dan 50% sebanyak 2 dan 4 kali ulangan. Dari hasil penelitian diperoleh bahwa pelaburan menggunakan natrium silikat dalam konsentrasi 50% sebanyak 4 kali ulangan menghasilkan nilai daya tahan rambat api yang terbaik atau rata-rata 68,08% dengan nilai retensi 0,13 gr/cm3, sedangkan kadar air dan keteguhan rekatnya  adalah 10,60% dan 9,74 kg/cm2. Hasil ini memenuhi persyaratan Standar Nasional Indonesia 01-05.2/1999. Perlakuan tanpa pelaburan (blanko) menghasilkan nilai daya tahan rambat api rata-rata 28,95%, kadar air 10,83% dan keteguhan rekat 13,78 kg/cm2.

Abstract

Limbah tempurung kelapa sawit untuk briket bahan bakar. Perlakuan yang digunakan yaitu kehalusan serbuk (7 mesh, 16 mesh dan 25 mesh), perlakuan tekanan kempa (3 ton, 5 ton dan 7 ton), dan perlakuan perekat (2,5% dan 5%). Hasil penelitian yang diperoleh kehalusan serbuk 7 mesh menghasilkan nilai kalori lebih besar dan kadar abu lebih rendah dibandingkan 16 mesh dan 25 mesh. Tekanan kempa 7 ton dan perekat 5% menghasilkan kekuatan tekan lebih besar dan kadar air lebih rendah dibandingkan tekana kempa 3 ton dan 5 ton serta perekat 2,5%. Kadar sulfur briket tempurung kelapa sawit adalah rata-rata negatif.

Abstract

Improved performance of fibers and colors some non commercial timber species for furniture two materials. This study used three types of non commercial wood were  Lua (Ficus glomevata Roxb), Tarap (Arthocarpus sp) and  Kambang (Goniothalamus sp). Finishing materials used Poly Urethane (PU), Nitro Cellulose (NC), and Antique Finish (AF). Number of spray to finishing material is one time and two times. Results showed that treatment of the finishing process using PU, NC and AF can increase the value of fiber and color performance is quite interesting and attractive, althouht it was decreasing of brightness a decrease in brightness of colors. Spraying of finishing materials one time and two times the power is not obtained by sticking a significant difference. The using of finishing materials to produce type PU adhesive power is better than NC and AF.Keywords: non commercial wood, fibre, colors

Abstract

Timber Acacia mangium (Acacia mangium, Willd) for Furniture. The study aims to determine the mechanical and physical properties and the decorative value (color and fiber) wood of acacia mangium with using finishing materials. This type of finishing material used is ultran lasur natural dof ,ultran lasur classic teak, aqua politur clear dof, aqua politur akasia dan aqua politur cherry. After finishing the wood is stored for 3 months. Test parameters were observed, namely, physical and mechanical properties of wood, adhesion of finishing materials, color and appearance of the fiber, and timber dimensions expansion. The results showed that the mechanical physical properties of acacia wood qualified SNI. 01-0608-89 about the physical and mechanical properties of wood for furniture, air dry the moisture content from 13.78 to 14.89%, flexural strength from 509.25 to 680.50 kg/cm2, and compressive strength parallel to fiber 342.1 - 412.9 kg/cm2. Finishing the treatment process using five types of finishing materials can increase the decorative value (color and fiber) wood. Before finishing the process of acacia mangium wood has the appearance of colors and fibers and less attractive (scale scores 2-3), after finishing acacia wood fibers have the appearance of colors and interesting and very interesting (scale 4-5).Keywords: mangium wood, mechanical properties, decorative value, finishing, furniture.

Abstract

Galam wood species (Melaleuca leucadendra) using for raw material bulding, charcoral, and energy. Galam bark wood waste has not been used. The purpose of research utilizing of waste Galam bark for board. Galam bark is cut into pieces with a length of 2 cm, 4 cm and 6 cm, then washed with water and dried naturally to moisture content below 7 %. Adhesives used poly vinyl acetate with a variation of 13 %, 16 %, and 19 % by weight of raw material. Cold pressing for 24 hours and a pressure of 15 kg/cm2. Parameters tested water content thickness swelling, density, modulus of elastisitas/MOE, modulus of rupture/MOR, screw withdrawal and tensile strength refers to the test metodhe SNI 03-2105-2006. The test results obtained water content between 13.59 to 15.52 %; thickness swelling between 5.85 to 20.65 %; density of between 0.38 to 0.90 gr/cm3; modulus of rupture / MOR between 8.62 - 56.12 kg/cm2 ; modulus of elasticity / MOE between 311.18 to 4022.33 kg/cm ; tensile strength between 0.16 - 0.55 kg/cm2; screw withdrawal strength between 30-70 kg. Bark size 6 cm long wood with a 19 % concentration of adhesive produced water content, thickness swelling, density, modulus of rupture / MOR, modulus of elasticity / MOE, screw withdrawal strength and tensile strength of the best.Keywords: galam, bark wood, board, physical mechanical.

Abstract

Palm shell waste has not been used optimally. Utilization can be as fuel in the form of biobriquette. The purpose of this research studied the effects of pressure hydraulic and adhesive concentration on biobriquette properties. Research includes palm shell crushed, screened with fineness 7 mesh, mixed with amylum adhesive solution 2.5% and 5%. Printed in diameter of 3 cm and a height of 7 cm. The emphasis with the pressure of 3 tons, 5 tons and 7 tons. Biobriqutte dried naturally. Quality analysis with refers to the National Standardization Agency (1994). Results pressure 3 tons and adhesive concentration of 5% produces the best with sulfur levels of negative value and calorific 4442.78 cal / g and qualify for household fuels. Treatment interactions pressure and concentration of adhesive very significant effect on moisture, ash, carbon, volatile matter content, density and compressive strengtth biobriqutte.Keywords:  palm shell,  consentration of adhesive, pressure hydraulics, biobriquette

Abstract

Penambahan senyawa bor (natrium tetraborat dan asam borat) pada proses pembuatan kayu lapis dengan cara pelaburan pada venir  face dan venir back sebanyak      2 kali dan 4 kali ulangan. Konsentrasi 30%, 40% dan 50%. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk memperlambat proses pembakaran atau mengurangi nilai uji bakar pada kayu lapis.  Penelitian menunjukkan pelaburan venir sebanyak 4 kali menggunakan senyawa bor dengan konsentrasi 50% dapat memperlambat pembakaran atau menurangi nilai uji bakar sebesar 18,15%.  Penambahan konsentrasi dan jumlah pelaburan berpengaruh sangat nyata terhadap retensi dan uji bakar, namun tidak mempengaruhi pada kadar air dan keteguhan rekat kayu lapis.

Abstract

Industri penggergajian kayu menghasilkan limbah sebesar 40,48 %  volume, terdiri atas sebetan (22,32 %), potongan kayu (9,39 %) dan serbuk gergaji (8,77 %). Sedangkan limbah industri kayu lapis sebesar 54,81 % volume dengan rincian potongan dolok (3,69 %), sisa kupasan dolok (18,25 %), venir basah (8,50 %), penyusutan (3,69 %), venir kering (9,60 %), pengurangan tebal (venir kering) (1,90 %), potongan tepi kayu lapis (3,90 %), serbuk gergaji (2,2 %) dan debu kayu lapis (3,07 %). Pemanfaatan pada kedua jenis limbah tersebut antara lain sebagai bahan bakar, inti papan blok, papan blok, papan partikel, dan sambungan venir inti, atau venir belakang kayu lapis.

Abstract

The treatment of waste water palm oil industry using  UAF reactor. The research purpose was to make a prototype that includes a wast ewater tank, a sedimentation tank  and UAF reactor, and then trial the waste water treatment. Filters used were pieces of PVC pipe, and at the bottom of the UAF reactor filled with sludge. To quickly decrease waste water TSS, the sedimentation addition 0.5% PAC (Poly Aluminium Chloride). Acclimatization process doing duration 30 days, and the waste water treatment process at UAF reactor doing duration 24 hours, then doing  analyzed the raw waste water quality before and after the processing of the reactor. Results of analysis of wastewater before treatment is pH 7.36; BOD 980 ppm; COD 1960.6 ppm ; TSS 50 89 ppm ; fatty oil 43 ppm; NH3-H 2,80 ppm and N-Total 246.64 ppm. The results of waste water treatment for 24 hours in the UAF reactor is pH 6.64; BOD 28.84 ppm; COD 56.94 ppm; TSS 48 ppm; fatty oils <1 ppm; NH3-N 0.082 ppm and N-Total 11.31 ppm.Keywords: waste water, palm oil, anaerobic, UAF reactor, tube PVC

Abstract

Pengolahan limbah sebetan dari penggergajian kayu kelapa dengan sistim  penyambungan dan penggabungan atau laminasi. Kayu sebetan yang telah dikeringkan dibuat strip dengan ukuran 1 cm x 4 cm x 25 cm dibuat sambungan jari dan bangku dengan menggunakan perekat PVAc. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa  keteguhan tekan  dan keteguhan lentur paling tinggi pada perlakuan sambungan jari dengan berat labur 200 gr/cm2  yaitu  231,853 kg/cm2 dan 195,809 kg/cm2. Keteguhan tekan sambungan jari  dengan berat labur 175 gr/cm2 dan 200 gr/cm2 memenuhi syarat bahan baku bangunan struktural. Dan  nilai keteguhan lentur sambungan jari  dengan berat labur 175 gr/cm2 dan 200 gr/cm2 tidak memenuhi syarat untuk bahan bangunan struktural. Keteguhan tekan, keteguhan lentur dan delaminasi dipengaruhi dari bentuk sambungan dan berat labur. Bentuk sambungan jari  memiliki keteguhan tekan dan keteguhan lentur lebih tinggi dibanding bentuk sambungan bangku.
