Abstract

This study aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of tourist travel in the Bandung Basin and formulate strategic recommendations to improve the tourist experience in the area. Using quantitative research methods involving 300 tourist respondents visiting destinations in the Bandung Basin, this study examines travel in various stages, including pre-visit, in-visit, and post-visit. It highlights the implications for DMO and stakeholders in the tourism industry. This study found that this region's dreaming and planning phases are largely determined by the trend and influence of digital information received by travelers. While at the booking stage, the role of online travel agents in the younger generation of travelers dominates its utility above direct bookings. This study provides several strategic recommendations for DMO to follow up on the profile of tourist behavior in the Bandung Basin.

Abstract

Web-GIS in the tourism sector can be done using website technology, namely by visualization based on tourism spatial attributes that display polygon-based patterns and points of tourist attraction locations to combat overtourism in tourist attractions. With the development of geospatial technology, tourists' distribution and travel patterns can be visualized by collecting data on tourist visits to tourist attractions and their routes. With the YWDM method, this web-gis was developed using the YWDM methodology with several phases according to the methods used. This application uses an open-source programming language, namely Javascript, and uses JSON as an upstream geodatabase. The results show that Web-GIS visualization of the distribution and travel patterns can make it easier to monitor the density of a tourist attraction. It is well developed in providing more accurate information on the distribution and density of tourist attractions. With the YWDM methodology, visualization can be done like the software development stage and equipped with steps in need for spatial data management.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to understand the behavior of mountaineer during the new normal of the Covid-19 pandemic. Although during the pandemic, mountaineering is still a favorite tourist outdoor activity to avoid crowds. The mountain attraction operator also claims to have implemented strict health protocols. However, only a few or none of studies discussing the mountaineer’s behavior during new normal. This study uses a qualitative method by conducting semi-structured interviews from 16 mountaineers in June-July 2021. The data were processed through several stages, namely reducing data, improving the appearance, one-stage coding and conducting content analysis. As the result, mountaineers tend to ignore health protocols, especially removing masks and rarely washing their hands during moountaineering. However, mountaineers mostly able to keep their distance and still pay attention to the environmental sustainability. In addition, mountaineers appreciate the operator which have implemented the CHSE procedures (cleanliness, health, safety and environmental sustainability) especially at the starting point of the mountaineering.

Abstract

This paper aims to investigate the tourist behaviour towards smart tourism in the case of emerging smart destinations. The extended model of theory of planned behaviour (TPB) is proposed as a tool to predict the relationship between applying smart tourism technology and tourist behaviour in selecting and visiting the destination. Using the city of Bandung, Indonesia as a case study, data was collected using a structured questionnaire from 524 domestic tourists in several emerging smart destinations. The confirmatory factor analysis was utilised to test the construct validity and reliability of the model, while Partial Least Squares (PLS) modelling was employed to assess the hypotheses developed. The results show that the extended TPB model can reasonably predict the tourist behaviour towards smart tourism, suggesting its applicability to emerging smart destinations. Smart tourism technology directly affects tourists’ attitude, subjective norms, and tourists perceived behavioural control, resulting in their travel intention. Also, their planned behaviour mediates the relationship between smart tourism technology and tourist decision in selecting and visiting destinations. Identifying predictors of tourist behaviour towards smart tourism provides a more accurate forecast of tourist demand, thereby enabling policymakers to tailor and implement a more comprehensive smart tourism planning and development

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe Sukabumi City Government introduced seven Thematic Villages to harness tourism resources and promote the local creative economy. This initiative aims to boost economic prosperity by providing opportunities in creativity and tourism, emphasizing community-based tourism and sustainable development. However, challenges such as community interest conflicts, limited trust, and inadequate resource management capacity hinder implementation. This study analyzes the factors for creating a participatory framework for community-based tourism (CBT) in these villages. Using a descriptive verification method, the research examines variables like community attachment, involvement, perceived benefits, and costs. A survey with a questionnaire was conducted among community members and managers in Sukabumi's Thematic Villages. Descriptive analysis with SPSS validated the construct variables and analyzed community characteristics, while Structural Equation Modeling tested the framework. The findings show that community support for tourism development is significantly influenced by perceived benefits and costs, which also mediate the relationship between community attachment, involvement, and support for tourism. This underscores the importance of participatory planning in CBT initiatives, allowing active community engagement in identifying local tourism resources, mapping assets, and setting environmental objectives, thus focusing on long-term sustainable income generation.ABSTRAKPemerintah Kota Sukabumi memperkenalkan tujuh Desa Tematik untuk memanfaatkan sumber daya pariwisata dan mempromosikan ekonomi kreatif lokal.

Abstract

The image of a destination significantly impacts tourists' experiences and intentions, particularly in the hospitality and tourism industry. This study examines how the image of Dusun Bambu Ecolodge influences tourists' intention to engage in staycations. Using a quantitative approach, data were collected through questionnaires distributed to 105 respondents who had experienced a staycation at the ecolodge. The analysis employed descriptive and verification statistical techniques, including simple linear regression. The findings reveal that image positively and significantly influences staycation intention, with a correlation coefficient of 0.662 and a determination coefficient of 41%. This indicates that the image variable can explain 41% of the variation in staycation intention, while other factors influence the rest. These results underscore the importance of maintaining and enhancing a positive image to boost staycation intentions. The study highlights practical strategies, including optimizing digital marketing and leveraging social media to promote engaging content and positive visitor experiences. This research contributes to understanding how destination image drives tourist behaviour, offering valuable insights for ecolodge operators and stakeholders in the sustainable tourism sector.

Abstract

Since the coronavirus pandemic hit Indonesia, tourists have become more careful when doing tourist activities. Natural or outdoor tourist destinations are assumed as safe and preferable destinations because they have the lowest risk of coronavirus transmission. One of the activities that can be done in natural or outdoor tourist destinations is camping. Using the AIDA (Attention, Interest, Desire, and Action) Model, this research was conducted to determine how much tourists are interested in camping, especially in South Bandung, West Java, Indonesia, as it has many natural tourist destinations with camping areas. This study uses a quantitative descriptive method, frequency analysis techniques, and scoring analysis. Samples were taken using a stratified random sampling technique to 111 respondents. Respondents are tourists who know or have visited one of the three natural tourist destinations in South Bandung, used as samples, namely Mount Puntang, Ranca Upas, and Rancabali. The results show that tourists are quite interested in camping as an alternative tourism activity during the coronavirus pandemic. However, they have some limitations or prerequisites in visiting the camping area during these uncertain times.

Abstract

This study analyzes tourist behavior in visiting tourism destinations influenced by smart tourism technology and uses the technology acceptance model (TAM) as a model for acceptance of smart tourism technology. This study used a sample of 324 tourists in West Java Province, Indonesia. Partial least square is applied to assess the relationship between smart tourism technology, perceived usefulness, perceived ease-of-use, travel intention, and visiting tourism destinations. The results of this study have revealed that the integration of TAM and smart tourism technology provides a complete explanation of the adoption of smart tourism technology. The results showed that smart tourism technology had a significant effect on perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness, and then had an effect on attitude. Travel intention was found to be directly influenced by attitude. Then, visiting tourism destinations is influenced by travel intention. By identifying smart tourism technology, various stakeholders such as the Government, tourism service providers and tourists can optimize a more comprehensive travel experience through the use of smart tourism technology.
