Abstract

Honesty is a valuable moral value that must be owned by everyone. Researchers are trying to find alternative ways to instill this attitude of honesty. Therefore, this study aims to examine the related literature whether the Living Values Education (LVE) learning model emphasizes character education? Can this LVE model be an alternative Islamic education learning model that can train students' honesty? This study uses a qualitative approach with the method of literature study. Data was collected through document study, then analyzed using content analysis method, then data was presented using description method. The results of this study indicate that the Life Values Education learning model can foster student morale such as the moral values of tolerance, anti-radicalism, responsibility, peace, and respect. Application of the LVE in Islamic Religious Education learning significantly instills and enhances honesty in students. This is evident in the changes student behavior, leading to greater honesty in speech, attitude, and actions. LVE model also encourages active student involvement through value reflection, discussion, and role modeling, making Islamic Religious Education learning more meaningful and character oriented. This is a reference that the LVE model can be used as an alternative to instill an attitude of honesty as well.

Abstract

The concept of interest in financial mathematics plays an important role in various modern financial activities, but its meaning often conflicts with Islamic economic principles that prohibit usury. This study aims to analyze the fundamental differences between the concept of interest as a mathematical calculation instrument and usury as an additional practice that is unlawful in debt transactions according to Islamic law. Using a qualitative approach through a literature review method, this study examines the theories of simple and compound interest in mathematics as well as the views of Islamic jurisprudence and economics on usury. The findings show that interest in mathematics is neutral because it functions as a model for the growth of money value, both linearly and exponentially. Conversely, usury is considered harmful because it causes injustice, excessive financial burdens, and imbalances between lenders and borrowers. The study also found similarities between high interest rates on online loans and the characteristics of al-nasi’ah (deferred usury), mainly due to additional charges that continue to increase due to delayed payments. This study provides a conceptual understanding that links mathematical approaches and Sharia perspectives, and emphasizes the importance of financial literacy and understanding Islamic principles in financial decision-making. Further research is needed to evaluate the application of Sharia financial instruments as a more equitable and sustainable alternative system for society.

Abstract

The development of the times in the global era provides opportunities and challenges for Islamic religious education. One of the challenges is the entry of liberalism. The purpose of this research is to provide an understanding of the entry of liberalism as a result of global openness to Islamic religious education and efforts to minimize the negative impact of liberalism. The research method used is a qualitative approach to the literature study method, with data analysis techniques including the stage: data reduction, data presentation, and verification as well as drawing conclusions. Results obtained: 1) Liberalism in Islamic education should be linked to transcendental relations as the foundation and limitation of liberal action itself; 2) Liberalism has a positive impact that is momentary and a negative impact that is long-term; 3) Efforts that need to be made to minimize the negative impact of liberalism in Islamic education are the need for strategies and policies that are relevant to the needs and adjusted to the philosophical and sociological foundations of Indonesian society. Implications: the findings show the need for an affirmation between liberalism and the transcendental foundation in Islamic education and the urgency of awareness of the dualistic impact of liberalism. Conclusion: liberalism in Islamic education must be limited considering the impact it causes, so that policies that are in accordance with the needs based on the philosophical and sociological needs of the Indonesian nation are needed.

Abstract

Although Game-Based Learning (GBL) has attracted increasing attention in educational research, limited evidence explains how interactive pedagogy can support holistic learning within Islamic Religious Education (IRE). Existing studies have primarily focused on motivation, academic achievement, or technology integration, with less attention to the pedagogical processes through which interactive learning fosters multidimensional student engagement and the contextual enactment of Islamic values. This study investigates the implementation of GBL integrated with the Roaming the Stairs strategy in IRE at an Indonesian Islamic senior high school. Adopting a qualitative case study design, data were collected through classroom observations, in-depth interviews, and document analysis. They were analyzed thematically using an integrated framework comprising Game-Based Learning Theory, Student Engagement Theory, and the Islamic educational philosophy of ta’dīb. The findings reveal that the integrated pedagogical design fostered interconnected behavioral, emotional, cognitive, and social engagement through collaborative, movement-based, and scaffolded learning activities. These learning experiences enabled students to contextualize and demonstrate Islamic values through authentic classroom interactions, indicating that interactive pedagogy functions as a mechanism linking active learning with ethical practice. Based on these findings, the study proposes the Interactive Pedagogical Framework for Islamic Religious Education (IPFIRE), which explains how interactive pedagogy, multidimensional student engagement, and value-based learning operate as complementary dimensions of learner-centered Islamic Religious Education.
