Abstract

Electro-ion exchange was carried out to synthesize Ni2+/natural zeolite at room temperature using various concentrations of Ni(NO3)2 of 0.05, 0.1, 0.15, and 2.0 M, zeolite wetting times of 0 and 24 hours, electrolysis times of 1, 2, and 3 hours, and voltages of 7.5, 15, and 28.4 V. The amount of Ni2+ that can be impregnated in the zeolite was monitored with Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS). The Ni2+/zeolite formed was characterized for its total acidity. The optimum conditions for this process are 28.4 V, 3 hours, and 0.1 M Ni(NO3)2. Under these optimum conditions, the Ni2+ content of the natural zeolite was 0.04 mmol/g, with a total acidity of 2.5 mmol/g. The increasing trend in the amount of Ni2+ content matched the trend in the total acidity. The synthesized Ni²⁺/natural zeolite is expected to be applied as a catalyst in reactions such as hydrogenation and hydrocracking.

Abstract

This research synthesized a cermet Ni-YSZ, in which the YSZ (yttria stabilized-zirconia) was synthesized from the local zircon sand, ZrSiO4, as a side product of tin mining plant in Bangka island, Indonesia. The synthesized YSZ in this research is zirconia, ZrO2 doped by 8 % mol of yttrium dioxide. The synthesis used solid state reaction method and the result was characterized its crystal structure and its cell parameters by XRD analysis equipped with Le Bail refinement, surface morphology analysis, and an impedance analysis to understand its ionic conductivity. The cermet Ni-YSZ was synthesized at a various composition of Ni:YSZ i.e., 20:80, 30:70, and 40:60 (b/b). The analysis shows that Ni-YSZ is in two phases of Ni and YSZ without any presence of a third phase. It indicates that there was no solid state reaction between Ni and YSZ during synthesis. In this Ni-YSZ cermet, the Ni phase in a cubic structure, and the YSZ is also in a cubic structure. Morphological study shows that the addition of Ni to YSZ allows the morphology to become more roughness with larger grain size. This research found that the Ni-YSZ 20:80 has highest ionic conductivity.

Abstract

Tempuran adalah sebuah desa di wilayah Kecamatan Paron, Kabupaten Ngawi, Provinsi Jawa Timur dan terdiri dari beberapa dusun, yaitu: Bulakan (ujung timur di pinggir Jalan Raya Ngawi - Maospati), Tempuran, Tempurejo, Munggur, Melikan (di tengah jalur kereta api), Jegolan (wilayah paling ujung selatan), Bendo, dan Bakalan (ujung barat). Sebagian besar geografisnya berupa lahan pertanian umumnya persawahan, dan topografi wilayahnya berupa dataran rendah. Sebagian besar penduduk asli desa Tempuran merupakan petani dan pekerja ladang, dengan jadwal pekerjaan sesuai musim tanam dan musim petik. Sesuai dengan letak georafisnya, desa ini relative mudah dijangkau dan terbuka dari berbagai arah mata angin. Sehingga jika ada usaha mikro dan menengah yang bisa diinisiasi, tidak akan terjadi kesulitan dalam akses pemasaran maupun transport bahan bakunya. Berdasarkan hal tersebut, grup riset solid state chemistry & catalysis (SSC) melakukan pelatihan pembuatan produk sabun cair berbahan baku organik gliserin sebagai dispersan, dan asam sitrun dan/ air lemon sebagai pemberi aroma. Produk sabun cair tersebut berpotensi untuk dikembangkan sebagai usaha mandiri warga karena bahan bakunya mudah didapatkan, selain itu produk sabun cair ini serbaguna, bisa digunakan untuk membersihkan badan, cuci tangan, mencuci piring dan baju. Sehingga, kemungkinan pemasarannya masih luas. Warga mengikuti kegiatan dan dapat mempraktekkan pembuatan dan menghasilkan produk sabun cair dengan baik. Kata kunci : sabun cair serbaguna; masyarakat; ngawi;  pelatihan

Abstract

This research conducted a molecular simulation of single N and double N/S doping into a carbon network. The simulation aimed to explain the effect of N and N/S doping, which was investigated experimentally by our previous research, and to prove the hypothesis that N and/or S replace a normal C site within the carbon crystal structure. Experimental data agree with the simulation result, as shown by the increasing ID/IG ratio in the Raman spectrum, which indicates defect formation after doping. Meanwhile, the XRD patterns of the doped carbon are similar to those of the undoped carbon. It suggests that the dopants N and/or S diffused and replaced the C atom from its normal site in the carbon crystal structure without forming new N and/or S-based compounds. The result is consistent with different dispersants investigated in this research, i.e., deionized water and ethanol. However, ethanol provided better dispersibility than water, resulting in a modified N/S carbon material with ethanol dispersant, NSCE, with a higher electrical conductivity of 23.74 x 10-1 Scm-1 than the N/S-modified carbon with water dispersion, NSCW, i.e., 5.97 x 10-1 Scm-1. The presence of defects increases the number of sites for charge carriers to migrate within the carbon network, making it a good electrode material for an LFP battery, with an initial charging capacity of 349.94 ± 79.04 mAh/g and an initial discharge capacity of 113.41 ± 12.59 mAh/g. The results reveal N/S-doped carbon as a sustainable candidate for lithium-ion batteries and other advanced energy storage technologies.
