Abstract

This study was motivated by the low academic performance of students, which was caused by teacher-centered learning, insufficient learning media, and low student interest in learning. To address these issues, learning should be connected to relevant and engaging concepts to help students better understand the material and stay focused in class. Consequently, a website-based learning media incorporating Balinese local wisdom was developed for the science subject (IPAS) on the topic of photosynthesis for fourth-grade elementary school students. The study employed the ADDIE model approach (Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). The research subjects consisted of 20 students, while the object of the study was the website-based learning media incorporating Balinese local wisdom. The data analysis techniques used were descriptive quantitative and descriptive qualitative methods. Data were collected using questionnaires, and the study utilized a pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest method. The results of this study indicated that the website-based learning media incorporating Balinese local wisdom for the science subject on photosynthesis was categorized as "highly feasible." The practicality level of the learning media, as assessed by teachers, reached a score of 3.95, while the score from students was 3.75, both classified as "very good." Furthermore, the website-based learning media effectively increased students' interes.

Abstract

The critical thinking and social attitudes of elementary school students in Civic Education (CE) learning remain relatively low, indicating the need for an instructional approach that can simultaneously enhance both aspects. This study aimed to analyze the effect of the Value Clarification Techniques (VCT)-based Civic Education learning model on critical thinking skills and social attitudes of fifth-grade elementary school students. The research used a quasi-experimental method with a non-equivalent posttest-only control group design. The sample consisted of 61 students from two elementary schools in Buleleng Regency, selected using cluster random sampling of the intact group type, with 31 students in the experimental group and 30 in the control group. The instruments included a critical thinking test and a social attitude questionnaire. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, assumption testing, and MANOVA. The results showed a significant effect of the VCT model on critical thinking (F = 15.72; p < 0.001) and social attitude (F = 11.64; p = 0.001). The experimental group's mean critical thinking score was 81.45, compared to 72.30 for the control group. Similarly, the mean social attitude score of the experimental group was 84.10, higher than the control group's 76.80. These findings indicate that the VCT model is effective in simultaneously fostering students' cognitive and affective development in Civic Education learning.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the low mathematics learning outcomes among students and their difficulty in understanding fundamental mathematical concepts. The purpose of this research is to examine the effect of the Gasing method combined with the traditional number-based game mong-mongan on improving mathematics learning outcomes in elementary school students. A quasi-experimental design was employed, using a non-equivalent control group design. The research sample consisted of two third-grade classes selected purposively: one as the experimental group and the other as the control group. Data were collected through a mathematics achievement test and analyzed using an independent t-test. The results revealed a significant difference in learning outcomes between students taught using the Gasing method integrated with traditional games and those taught using conventional methods. The findings indicate that the Gasing method, when integrated with local cultural games, is more effective in enhancing students' mathematics achievement. These results highlight the importance of innovative, culturally responsive teaching strategies that provide meaningful and enjoyable learning experiences for students.
