Abstract

Numeracy literacy is very important for elementary school students because it provides a basis for applying mathematics in everyday life. Numeracy literacy requires students to think critically in solving problems. Moreover, elementary school is early childhood education to start getting used to thinking through research and analysis. Researchers use qualitative research in literature studies by reviewing various sources such as books, articles, modules, and final research assignments. The results of the research are that there are several ways to shape the critical thinking character of elementary school students with numeracy literacy, namely 1) using interactive learning models such as project-based learning and problem-based learning; 2) application of numeracy literacy in various classroom activities; and 3) conveying meaningful mathematical values during learning. A teacher can use these three methods optimally, provided that a teacher must also apply numeracy literacy in everyday life. So it will be easier for students to imitate and apply it.

Abstract

This study aims to reinterpret the epistemology of Hasan Langgulung Islamic education and its application in learning during the Covid-19 pandemic. As a library research, the primary research data are in the form of six writings by Hasan Langgulung. The researcher also presented research data related to learning that had occurred during the COVID-19 pandemic season. The data collection technique is done by documentation. Then the data analysis was done descriptively-analytically. Researchers generalized and critically analyzed the concept of Hasan Langgulung Islamic education from various primary and secondary literatures and then discussed the concept on the actualization of Islamic education during the Covid-19 pandemic season. The results of data analysis, in this case Hasan Langgulung's Islamic educational thought paradigm, were then concluded and became the results of research. The results of the study show that online learning that has occurred during the pandemic so far is still disoriented to the epistemology of Islamic education. Hasan Langgulung offers an epistemological paradigm of Islamic education, namely 1) teachers should formulate online learning aims and goals that are realistic and can be measured through indicators with specified timelines. Aims and learning goals are oriented to three aspects of cognitive, affective, and psychomotor; 2) choosing learning strategies to be more precise with guidance, counseling, and providing incidental student assistance; 3) the learning evaluation system must be realistic and measurable, all of which include cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects.

Abstract

This study examines the environmental consequences of unsustainable economic growth by exploring the alignment between low-carbon economic initiatives and the Islamic principle of maslahah mursalah. The research is motivated by widening the gap between environmental degradation and ethical responsibility in economic development. The objective is to analyze how low-carbon policies correspond with Islamic economic objectives grounded in the pursuit of public benefit. This study employs a qualitative research approach, using documentary analysis, of policy documents, academic literature, and reports on low-carbon economic policies and maslahah mursalah. Through content analysis, this study investigates the relationship between low-carbon economic objectives and maslahah mursalah by identifying key themes and patterns in the literature. The findings reveal that low-carbon policies, which aim to reduce emissions and foster sustainable growth are consistent with maslahah mursalah as they prevent environmental harm that threatens human week-being. These policies address maslahah across the levels of dharuriyah (necessities), hajiyyat (complementary needs), and tahsiniyyat (enhancements). Furthermore, transitioning to a low-carbon economy supports   long-term economic resilience and ecological balance, thereby reinforcing the ethical obilation to safeguard the welafare of future generations. This study contributes to the field of Islamic economic by demonstrating the applicability of maslahah mursalah in confronting contemporary environmental and developmental challenges.

Abstract

The Indonesian Islamic Da’wa Institution (LDII) has a different marriage arrangement from most. In the matchmaking process, they have a marriage team responsible for overseeing it and facilitating an unregistered marriage (nikah dalam). An unregistered marriage is a marriage contract carried out by the congregation before a marriage is performed in the Office of Religious Affairs. This study aims to analyze the matchmaking process and the unregistered marriage practice carried out by the LDII in Sawoo Village, Ponorogo, Indonesia, utilising a Sociology of Law approach and the Structural-Functional (AGIL) framework. This study employed a descriptive-qualitative approach to describe and analyze the phenomenon. The findings show that the practice of nikah dalam in the LDII community is influenced by cultural, social, biological, and personality systems.  Furthermore, it is also an effort to maintain a system that has become a stable norm in the community because it meets four functional requirements. They are Adaptation, Goal Attainment, Integration, and Latency. Therefore, the system remains alive and runs well, preventing conflict. This paper contributes to studies in the Islamic Family Law, especially, regarding traditions and marriage practices in Indonesian religious organizations. This study also provides a detailed account of how religious authority acts as the primary legal actor in enforcing the community's internal rules.

Abstract

This study investigates the use of politeness strategies in the Bahasa Inggris textbook for Indonesian twelfth-grade students. It aims to identify statements explicitly expressing politeness within the textbook’s conversation exercises. Considering the cultural significance of politeness in Indonesian society, particularly within educational settings, the study highlights the importance of integrating culturally appropriate communication practices into English language teaching (ELT) materials. Employing a descriptive qualitative method, six chapters (Chapters 1, 2, 3, 4, 9, and 14) were analyzed, resulting in 128 instances of politeness strategies. Among these, positive politeness emerged as the most dominant (50%), followed by negative politeness (25%), off-record strategies (11.7%), bald-on-record strategies (7.8%), and “Don’t do the FTA” (5.5%). The findings reveal that the conversational texts reflect Indonesian cultural norms by emphasizing respect, indirectness, and sensitivity to social hierarchy. This research evaluates ELT materials by promoting the integration of linguistically and culturally appropriate politeness strategies. It also encourages educators and textbook developers to prioritize politeness in instructional materials, enhancing students’ pragmatic competence in English communication.
