Abstract

Greenhouse technology presents a promising solution to the challenges of agricultural productivity and sustainability, particularly for small-scale farmers facing climate change, resource constraints, and unpredictable weather conditions. This study was the first attempt to investigate the impact of greenhouse adoption on farmers’ welfare which focused on household income per capita and food security status. The samples of this study were conducted 201 melon farmers in East Java, Indonesia. This study analyzed data to discern the effects of greenhouse adoption on farmers’ welfare by employing endogenous switching regression to address potential endogeneity issues. The analysis revealed that greenhouse adoption significantly and positively affected household income per capita and food security status. Through rigorous data analysis, this research had contributed valuable insights into the socio-economic implications of adopting greenhouses in agricultural practices. The results highlighted the role of greenhouses in boosting farmers’ resilience, improving livelihoods, and enhancing food security, providing a strong case for promoting greenhouse technology in rural agricultural practices.

Abstract

The trains have become one of the most popular modes of transportation in Indonesia. In line with technological advancements, PT KAI launched an application called "Access by KAI," which has received various ratings on the Google Play Store. This research aims to analyze user sentiment towards the "Access by KAI" application. The study employs the SEMMA methodology (Sample, Explore, Modify, Model, and Assess) as a framework, utilizing a combination of machine learning algorithms and lexicon-based approaches. Data collection was conducted through web scraping user reviews from the Google Play Store from January to June 2024, resulting in 9,124 reviews. The best model for sentiment classification in this study is Logistic Regression, achieving an accuracy of 84%, followed by the Random Forest algorithm with an accuracy of 78%, and Naive Bayes with an accuracy of 73%. The results indicate that negative sentiment predominates, suggesting that the "Access by KAI" application requires improvements, particularly in areas that have generated user complaints. Words such as "difficult," "login," "wrong," "payment," and "failed" reflect user frustration related to the login and payment processes, leading to user dissatisfaction. This research is expected to provide insights into user opinions regarding the "Access by KAI" application.

Abstract

Although agricultural insurance plays a vital role in minimizing the potential risk of yield loss, the adoption rate among farmers in Indonesia remains low. Using cross-sectional data from the Indonesian rice farmers’ survey, this study investigates how participation in a farmer group affects the decision to adopt agricultural insurance. A recursive bivariate probit model was employed to estimate the participation’s effects on agricultural insurance adoption. The finding indicates that farmer group participation positively and significantly affects the adoption. Regarding the control variables, farmers’ experience and education drive the adoption. In contrast, age shows a negative correlation. Meanwhile, the determinants of farmer group participation are gender, access to credit, and social activity involvement. Likewise, age also negatively and significantly affects the probability of farmer group participation. These findings highlight the essential role of farmer group participation in agricultural insurance adoption. Therefore, we suggest promoting membership sign-ups among smallholder farmers Keywords: agriculture insurance, farmers group, recursive bivariate probit model, rice farmers

Abstract

The Klaten Regency Government is currently facing problems related to the lack of utilization of technology in supervising SKPD activities because it still uses manual methods, namely recording supervision in books or spreadsheets which causes delays, recording errors and difficulties in finding follow-up data findings. This research aims to design and build a laravel-based follow-up supervision and monitoring system for local government agencies. The system development method using Waterfall includes the stages of needs analysis, system design, implementation and testing. The results of blackbox testing show that the system functionality is in accordance with the percentage of 100% without any errors. In addition, the results of usability testing with the dimensions of usefulness, ease of use, ease of learning and satisfaction show the results of the usability level of 97% and are categorized as very feasible so that the system proves to be easy to use, easy to learn and has satisfied users. So based on these results, it is hoped that this system can help accelerate supervisory monitoring and increase the transparency of regional agency governance.

Abstract

In a rapidly evolving business environment, firms are increasingly challenged to adapt and innovate to maintain competitiveness. Green supply chain integration has emerged as a strategic approach for firms to align operational processes with sustainability objectives. At the same time, organizational resilience is recognized as a critical capability for navigating environmental and market disruptions. Despite the growing importance of these factors, studies exploring their combined impact on sustainable business performance remain limited. Grounded in dynamic capabilities theory, this study investigates the roles of green competitive advantage and organizational resilience in fostering sustainable performance through an explanatory sequential mixed-methods design. Initially, a quantitative survey involving 450 SME managers in Madura was conducted to empirically test the research model using structural equation modeling (SEM). Subsequently, qualitative interviews with selected managers provided nuanced insights into the mechanisms underpinning these relationships. Findings affirm that green supply chain integration and organizational resilience significantly enhance sustainable business performance, with green competitive advantage serving as a key intermediary that strengthens this relationship. This study demonstrates that embedding green supply chain practices directly into core business strategies improves SMEs' adaptability to environmental changes and increases operational efficiency, providing measurable competitive advantages in dynamic market environments.

Abstract

In the past two years, market information and the distribution of agricultural products have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, which has limited the distribution of information and the movement of agricultural products. As a result, the COVID-19 pandemic can lead to non-competitive behavior among intermediary traders, especially those operating in concentrated markets. This research aims to analyze the price volatility of horticulture commodity during the pandemic in East Java, Indonesia. The research data was collected through the official website of the Information System for Availability and Price Development of Basic Necessities in East Java (SISKAPERBAPO). The method used to analyze the impact of COVID-19 on horticultural agricultural product prices is ARCH (Autoregressive Conditional Heteroscedastic) and GARCH (Generalized Autoregressive Conditional Heteroscedasticity). The volatility results show that the prices of chili and shallots often fluctuate with high and unpredictable variations. However, the fluctuations in the prices of these two commodities are not due to a lack of supply or high demand, but rather due to the characteristics of these commodities, which are perishable and highly dependent on the season of production. The lower the quality, the lower the price will be. The price of shallots is relatively stable compared to chili due to its longer shelf life and less depreciation. The constraint faced by farmers of these two commodities during harvest time is the lack of storage facilities to store their harvest, forcing them to sell all their produce to middlemen or traders, which is one of the causes of the fluctuation of commodity prices.
