Abstract

Abstract

Competition among MSMEs is getting tighter, and product quality is key. MSMEs of Smoked Tuna Fish face the problem of defective products that result in losses. This study aims to identify the causes of defects and design risk control strategies. The DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control) method is used as a data-based approach according to the Lean Manufacturing concept. The Six Sigma level is an indicator of production quality, the lower the sigma, the greater the potential for failure, while the higher the sigma, the smaller the possibility of product failure. The results of the study, it is known that the biggest risk in the production process of MSMEs of Smoked Tuna Fish shows the biggest defect is uneven/unripe color (39.60%). For 16 weeks, the average production Sigma level was 4.19. Defects are caused by material, human, machine, and method factors, such as wet coconut shells, high water content, lack of skills, SOPs, and limited tools. Proposed improvements include the use of dry coconut shells, drying fish, worker training, improving tools with optimal smoke circulation, and standardizing SOPs to maintain quality consistency.

Abstract

In the manufacturing sector, particularly in the food industry, continuous improvement is essential to ensure smooth production processes. Production machines play a key role in maintaining this continuity. However, disruptions in the process can lead to downtime and financial losses for the company. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of machines, especially single-line machines, in reducing downtime in the powdered beverage packaging process at PT. ZYX. Data collection methods include observation, interviews, and literature review. The Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) method is used to assess machine effectiveness. Data processing involves calculating availability, performance, and quality using specific formulas. The results show that the OEE value for the single-line packaging machine at point 6 is 85.7%, while at point 7 it is 79.32%. Compared to the international OEE standard of 85%, the machine at point 7 still requires improvement, particularly in the performance aspect. Therefore, improvements in various areas that potentially lower performance, as illustrated in the fishbone diagram, are needed to increase the OEE value. Abstract

One of the food commodities produced by the agricultural sector with high economic value is red onion. As the population of Indonesia increases, the need for red oniom has also increased. The level of red onion production from year to year is also increasing. Especially the central Java area as the largest red onion producing center in 2021. Therefore, the amount of red onion production needs to be maintained and increased by monitoring overall land conditions. Such as weather conditions, air, temperature, and humidity. A sensor to detect these factors is already available but there is no database to accommodate the data from the sensor. The purpose of this research is to produce a Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN) of red onion surveillance system on Internet of Things (IoT) based farmland. The stages carried out are by collecting data related to the research and analyzing business processes using the Business Process Reengineering Life Cycle (BPR) method. This method improves business processes to become more efficient and renewable. This research produces a database design to accommodate incoming data from Internet of Things sensors. Things (IoT) on red onion farming.

Abstract

Irregular watering at the nursery stage is often the cause of death of Pinus merkusii seedlings. This study aims to design and test an Arduino-based automatic watering system with a soil moisture sensor to maintain optimal humidity in the polybag planting medium of pine seedlings. The study was conducted through an experimental method with direct testing using seedling samples. The system is designed to activate the water pump when soil moisture drops below 60% and stop watering when humidity reaches 70%, with real-time monitoring via sensors. Humidity data was taken every 1 hour for 10 hours of testing. The test results showed that the system was able to maintain soil moisture within the ideal range, provide the right watering response, and was effective in reducing the burden of labor. The recommendation from this study is the development of a system using Arduino as a controller to optimize seedling watering more efficiently, evenly, and measurably in order to minimize seedling mortality.

Abstract

Waste has become a complex and global issue, faced by countries around the world, including Indonesia, regardless of their developmental status. The increasing population in Rembang Regency each year results in a rise in waste production. Since the increase in waste volume is not proportional to consumption, it is necessary to categorize and predict the amount of waste generated across 14 sub-districts. The simple linear regression method has shown good predictive capabilities. The objective of this research is to study the concepts, analyze waste management, develop linear regression models, and evaluate waste generation results. Evaluation results for estimation indicate that the first rank is in Rembang Sub-district with a waste generation amount of 68,398 tons and an increase of 1,063 tons over five years. The second rank is in Sedan Sub-district with a waste generation amount of 43,690 tons and an increase of 877 tons over five years. The third rank is in Kragan Sub-district with a waste generation amount of 49,744 tons and an increase of 805 tons over five years.Based on predictions for the population and waste generation from 2024 to 2028, considering the factors of waste generation and the main factor of increased waste. In this case, the average population increase will be used to estimate the population over the next five years, leading to predictions for population and waste generation from 2024 to 2028. The top three sub-districts with the highest increases in waste are Rembang Sub-district, Sedan Sub-district, and Kragan Sub-district. Therefore, several recommendations can be provided to address the waste generation issues in Rembang Regency.

Abstract

Potato  Cyst  Nematode/PCN (Globodera  rostochiensis) attack is  the  most  critical  risk  in  potato farming. The attack was marked by a decrease in the production of up to 60%. The objectives of this study were to reduce postharvest losses due to PCN attacks on Granola L and to compare yields from G2 and G0 seeds. This research was conducted in 5 districts (N1, N2, N3, N4, and N5) in Wonosobo Regency, Central Java, Indonesia. The method used in this study was the comparison of yields from G2 and G0 seeds in the same area, considering temperature (V1) and altitude (V2). The results showed that Granola L from G2 seeds for 100 days after planting was 15.9 tons/ha, while the results for G0 seeds in the same field increased to 12.18 tons/ha. In G2 seeds, 52 cysts/100 ml of soil were obtained, while in G0 seeds, cysts were not accepted. Combining G0 seeds in vitro and ex-vitro on Granola L can reduce PCN attacks and increase yields by up to 73%. Conducting experiments with other cultivars, such as the Atlantic and Agria, is necessary for further research.
