More than 28% of people experience anxiety at the age of 18 to old age, where anxiety is usually also associated with psychological conditions and declining individual health so that they must be hospitalized. Caring behavior carried out by nurses makes patients tend to be more comfortable and more optimistic about their recovery. Purpose:  To find out the relationship between caring behavior of nurses based on Jean Watson's theory and the level of anxiety in pre-operative patients. Methods: The type of quantitative research using correlational research design and Cross Sectional Study approach. The population used is pre-operative patients who are in the Regional General Hospital. The sampling method used is non-probability sampling with a sample of 44 respondents. Data collection was carried out through interviews and using the HARS questionnaire. Results: The results of the Chi-Square Test show a p value of 0.004 < 0.05, which means that there is a significant relationship between the caring behavior of nurses based on Jean Watson's theory and the level of pre-operative patient anxiety at the Meuraxa Regional General Hospital, Banda Aceh. Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between caring behavior of nurses based on Jean Watson's theory with the level of preoperative patient anxiety. Abstract

Health disparities are a global challenge that requires a comprehensive approach in addressing them. This study aims to analyze the role of nurses in addressing health disparities with a focus on ethical considerations and public health implications. The methodology used is a qualitative approach with a systematic literature study, analyzing scientific publications from 2019-2024 through the PubMed, CINAHL, Scopus, and Web of Science databases. Thematic analysis was conducted using the PRISMA framework to identify key themes. The results of the study revealed three main findings: (1) the transformative role of nurses as agents of change in the health system, (2) the complexity of ethical challenges in nursing practice, and (3) significant implications for public health. Analysis through Leininger's transcultural nursing theory and Parsons' structural functional theory shows the importance of integrating cultural understanding with a systemic approach in addressing health disparities. This study provides an important contribution to understanding the role of nurses and developing strategies to address health disparities in the future.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of Range of Motion (ROM) exercises in reducing pain and improving social function in patients with knee osteoarthritis, and to identify factors that influence the success of ROM program implementation. The study used a qualitative approach with a systematic literature study method. Data were collected through searches in the electronic databases PubMed, Scopus, and CINAHL with the inclusion criteria of primary research articles in 2019-2024. Data analysis was carried out thematically using NVIVO software and quality assessment using the Mixed Methods Appraisal Tool. An effective ROM program includes a duration of 30-45 minutes per session with a frequency of 3-4 times per week, showing a significant decrease in pain after 4-6 weeks of implementation. Improved social function is seen through active participation in community activities and better social interactions. Key success factors include program personalization, early professional supervision, and family support. Understanding of the effectiveness of ROM is reinforced by nursing and sociological theories that emphasize the importance of a holistic approach in the management of knee osteoarthritis.

Abstract

Background: Difficulty in establishing social relationships is a significant issue that can negatively impact the psychological well-being of nursing students. Often feeling isolated, withdrawing from the social environment, and experiencing decreased academic motivation are difficulties that usually arise in students. Various factors contribute to this condition, including pressure to be accepted in certain social groups, such as trying to adjust appearance or behavior to be accepted by the environment, which actually triggers stress and identity crises. Understanding the background and causal factors to the differences in the level of social difficulties in nursing students is very important in efforts to improve psychological well-being and support the academic success of nursing students. Purpose: To determine the differences in social relationship difficulties in students at different levels of the diploma program in nursing. Methods: The study used an analytical survey design with a comparative approach. The research sample consisted of 642 respondents from students of the diploma program in nursing at Poltekkes Kemenkes Aceh and was obtained through a total sampling technique. The instrument used to measure the level of difficulty in social relationships was The Revised Cheek and Buss Shyness Scale (RCBS), which has been proven valid and reliable in measuring the level of individual personality. Data analysis was carried out using the Kruskal-Wallis test to compare differences in the level of difficulty in social relationships based on the group of variables studied. Results: Based on the results of statistical tests using the Kruskall Wallis test, it shows that the p-value is 0.01 (<0.05), which indicates that there is a significant difference in the average difficulty of social relationships in students between levels of the diploma program in nursing at Poltekkes Kemenkes Aceh. Abstract

The role of parents is crucial in shaping several fundamental attitudes that determine the development of a child’s personality in the future. Having self-confidence is very important for the growth and development of a child's personality. Applying appropriate and correct parenting styles is a way for parents to help develop their children's self-confidence. The aim of this study is to determine the relationship between parenting styles and children's self-confidence in Kuta Alam Working Area, Banda Aceh City. This research uses a descriptive analytic design with a cross-sectional approach. The sampling technique used is total sampling, involving the entire population as the sample. The study includes all mothers who have children aged 6–10 years in Kuta Alam Working Area, Banda Aceh City, totaling 65 respondents. The research instrument used is a questionnaire sheet. Data analysis was carried out univariately and bivariately using the chi-square test. The results showed that the majority of respondents applied a permissive parenting style, with 33 respondents (50%), and most children had low self-confidence, with 26 respondents (39.4%), while a small portion had moderate self-confidence, with 17 respondents (25.8%). There is a significant relationship between parenting style and children's self-confidence, with a p-value of 0.002 (p<0.05). It is recommended that parents adopt effective parenting styles, especially those oriented toward democratic parenting, and support every stage of child development so that children can enhance their self-confidence and social abilities.

Abstract

In 2022, it was estimated that 45 million children under the age of 5 (6.8%) suffered from wasting, with 13.6 million (2.1%) of them experiencing severe wasting. More than three-quarters of children with severe wasting live in Asia, and 22% live in Africa. The 2023 Joint Malnutrition Estimates (JME) report showed insufficient progress toward meeting the global nutrition targets set by WHO for 2025 and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for 2030. The aim of this study is to investigate the impact of providing education on healthy menu preparation on improving mothers' knowledge and children's weight gain in Tibang Village, Syiah Kuala District, Banda Aceh City. This study is a “Quasi-experimental pre-post test” design, where an intervention or treatment is given to the study subjects, and the effects of the treatment are then measured and analyzed. The population in this study consisted of all mothers with children aged 1-5 years in Tibang Village, Syiah Kuala District, Banda Aceh City at the time of the study, with a sample size of 95 participants selected through total sampling. The study was conducted in June 2023 using observation sheets for data collection. Data analysis was performed using the Wilcoxon test. The univariate analysis results show that before receiving the education on healthy menu preparation, the majority of mothers (52.6%) had insufficient knowledge, whereas after receiving the education, most mothers (57.9%) had good knowledge. Regarding children's weight, before the education, 63.2% of children did not show weight gain, whereas after the education, 68.4% of children showed weight improvement. The bivariate analysis results indicate that there was a significant effect of providing education on healthy menu preparation on improving mothers' knowledge, with a p-value of 0.000 < α: 0.05, and also a significant effect on children's weight gain, with a p-value of 0.001 < α: 0.05. It is hoped that mothers can increase their knowledge about healthy menu preparation for children aged 1-5 years.
