Abstract

Background: An incision wound is a type of open wound obtained using a scalpel by paying attention to the size, location and purpose of the wound. Collagen has an important role during the wound healing process. The content that can trigger the formation of collagen is phenolic compounds such as oleuropein, oleocanthal, and luteolin that can be found in olive oil. This study aims to determine the effect of olive oil cream 5% on the amounts of collagen on incision wounds process.Method: A quasy experimental design in vivo with a post-test only control group design on 12 wistar rats. The control group and the experimental group with 5% olive oil cream. Incision wounds was seen from the amount of collagen using One-Way Anova analysis.Result: The study showed that there was a significant effect of 5% olive oil on the amount of collagen with a significance of 0.000 (0<0.05).The results between the control group and the treatment had significant differences on 3th and 5th days. Conclusion: The conclusion is that there is an effect of giving 5% olive oil cream on the amount of collagen in the healing process of wistar incision lips.

Abstract

Introduction : Mandibular angle fractures frequently result from trauma and are often complicated by the presence of impacted third molars, which can increase the risk of infection. Case(s) : This case report presents 2 cases of mandibular angle fractures involving the third molar. In the first case, the tooth was not extracted during the previous surgery, and an infection occurred during 6 months post-ORIF. The second case, ORIF was performed along with the extraction of the third molar followed by inter-maxillary fixation, resulting in satisfactory outcomes. Conclusion: Tooth involved in fractures line can increase infection risk. Extraction of impacted third molars within the fracture line can help reduce infection risk and promote healing.

Abstract

Background: The intricate process of tooth formation during embryonic development ensures sufficient nutrition for the growth of healthy dental tissues. Amelogenin and alkaline phosphatase (ALP) are serine proteinases secreted by the ameloblast during the transition and maturation phases of the amelogenesis process. Consumption of saltwater fish is predicted to increase the expression of amelogenin and ALP in ameloblast cells during tooth formation. Only now have the function of each gene, tooth-forming cells, and the proteins they produce in the biomolecular amelogenesis of tooth enamel, which began during prenatal development, been clarified. Purpose: This study aims to determine how saltwater fish powder affects the ability of mother mice to increase the expression of amelogenin and ALP in cell ameloblast. Methods: Using a completely randomized design, this study was experimental and aimed to examine the effects of sardine (Sardinella fimbriata), splendid ponyfish (Leiognathus splendens), and tuna (Euthynnus affinis) powder. As samples, twenty-four female mice (Mus musculus) were used. Two groups of mice were created: group 1 (2.14 mg/0.5 ml) and the control group. The expression of amelogenin and ALP was determined using immunohistochemistry (IHC) and t-test (p0.05). Results: Expression of ameloblast was significantly different between the treatment and control groups (p0.05). Conclusion: The consumption of saltwater fish reduces the amelogenin and ALP expressions of mouse fetal ameloblast cells during tooth development in vivo.

Method: The research method used in this research is descriptive analytic method with purposive sampling approach. Methods of data collection using a questionnaire to measure parenting stress, the short form parenting stress index (PSI) had adopted from Adibin has been tested for validity and reliability. The number of samples in this study were 150 mothers with cleft lip, palatal and cleft lip/palatal children.Statistic analysis with ANOVA test and Spearman test Result: The results of this study indicate that there are differences in the stress levels of mothers of cleft children between cleft lips (CL), cleft palate (CP) and cleft lips and palate (CL/P) non syndromic (NS). The significance value is 0.000 (p

Abstract

Background: A systemic metabolic disorder by insulin resistance, type-2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), is characterised by an increased level of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and decreased superoxide dismutase (SOD), which is associated with the activation of proinflammatory cytokine pathways such as tumor necrosis (TNF)-α. This condition usually stimulates inflammation of the periodontal tissue (periodontitis). Vitamin-D3 can inhibit the release of inflammatory mediator and reduce the risk of chronic periodontitis. Purpose this study to determine the effect of the secretome-hypoxia mesenchymal-stem-cells (SH-MSCs)-Vitamin-D3 combination on the expression of SOD, IL-10, and TNF-α genes in T2DM periodontitis-induced rats. Method: 30 rats were randomly divided into five groups; normal sham condition, positive control, SH-MSCs group, vitamin-D3 group, and combination of SH-MSCs and vitamin D3 group. SH-MSCs were injected at doses of 150 uL in the gingival. In addition, vitamin D3 5000 IU 2.25 mcg were administrated orally. After 35 days, all rats were sacrificed, and qRT-PCR from gingival tissue was performed to identify the expression of SOD, IL-10 and TNF-α genes Results: The results a significant increase in SOD and IL-10 gene expression (p
