Abstract

Abstract: Amid the rapid development of the digital era, the integration of technology in education has become an inevitable necessity, especially to adjust to the characteristics and expectations of today's students. Nevertheless, the use of digital learning media in physical education, particularly in teaching basic locomotor movement skills such as walking, running, and jumping, is still not optimal and tends to be limited. This study aims to examine the extent of the effectiveness of using mobile-based educational games in improving elementary school students' locomotor skills. The research was conducted with a pre-experimental design using a one-group pretest-posttest approach, involving 35 students aged 8 to 12 years. Data collection was carried out through motor skills performance tests, then analyzed using descriptive statistics, Shapiro-Wilk normality test, paired t-test, and N-Gain analysis. The research results showed a statistically significant increase between pre-test and post-test scores (p < .001), with an effect size considered very large (Cohen’s d = -3.643). These findings indicate that the intervention provided was able to produce a substantial change. However, when viewed from the level of learning improvement using N-Gain analysis, the average value obtained was 0.164, which is still in the low category. This indicates that although there was a statistical increase, the practical impact of the intervention has not been fully optimal. These findings suggest that the use of digital media can indeed enhance student engagement and positively influence the learning process. Therefore, digital learning media has great potential as a supporting tool in physical education, but its use needs to be more carefully designed to provide the maximum impact. Overall, this study contributes to the enrichment of literature related to the integration of technology in physical education, while also opening opportunities for the development of more adaptive pedagogical innovations in the future.

Abstract

Dry-land strength training is now embedded in the weekly programming of competitive swimmers, yet the specific modalities, loading strategies and dosages that produce the most consistent transfer to swimming performance remain contested. This systematic literature review aimed to (i) map the dry-land strength training interventions applied to competitive swimmers; (ii) characterise their effects on swimming performance outcomes; and (iii) identify the programme characteristics associated with the greatest performance gains. The review was reported in line with the PRISMA 2020 statement. Scopus was searched with a purpose-built Boolean string, limited to English-language original journal articles published between 2021 and 2025 and available as open access, yielding 216 initial records. After removing 15 duplicates, 201 records were screened by title and abstract, 58 reports were sought for retrieval, and 54 full-text reports were assessed against pre-specified PICOS-based eligibility criteria. Twenty studies met all criteria and were retained for qualitative synthesis. Three convergent findings emerged: maximal and heavy-resistance strength training produced the most reproducible gains in sprint and start performance; concurrent dry-land plus in-water training generally outperformed either modality alone for stroke-specific outcomes; and horizontally directed and power-oriented dry-land work showed the strongest transfer to swim start metrics. The review contributes an evidence-informed framework for prescribing dry-land strength work in competitive swimming and highlights the need for larger, longer, standardised trials.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the suboptimal dribbling ability of students participating in the basketball extracurricular program at SMAN 8 Padang, which was assumed to be related to agility and hand-eye coordination. This study aimed to determine the relationship between agility and hand-eye coordination with dribbling ability, both partially and simultaneously. The study employed a quantitative approach with a correlational design. The population and sample consisted of 12 male students selected using total sampling. Data were collected through agility, hand-eye coordination, and dribbling ability tests. Data were analyzed using Product Moment correlation and multiple correlation. The results showed a significant relationship between agility and dribbling ability, with a correlation coefficient of 0.620 and a contribution of 38.44%. There was also a significant relationship between hand-eye coordination and dribbling ability, with a correlation coefficient of 0.600 and a contribution of 36.00%. Simultaneously, both variables showed a significant relationship, with a correlation coefficient of 0.660 and a contribution of 43.60%. Thus, agility and hand-eye coordination are significantly related to students' dribbling ability.

Abstract

Drowning has been and will continue to be a great source of preventable accidental injuries that people die of and swimming is one among many skills which are strongly linked to the person's level of socioeconomic status. The researchers of this systematic analysis have pooled the most updated pool of the world's knowledge on the topic of how socioeconomic factors influence swimming and water safety programmes for the water plus the reported ways of achieving a better equity. A review based on the methodology laid out by the PRISMA 2020 statement for systematic review and meta-analysis was chosen. In the review a structured Boolean search was used only on studies in the English language in the Scopus database from 2021-2026 period. Initially, 586 records were found and 15 were duplicates (the same paper). After several screening stages (i.e.title and abstract) against the set eligibility criterions, 18 papers were finally chosen for evaluation. Two evaluators independently assessed titles/abstracts and texts, while evaluating the agreement between them by the statistic of Cohen's kappa (κ = 0.91). The combination of search words employed ("socioeconomic status" OR "socioeconomic status") AND ("swimming" OR "aquatic") AND ("access" OR "participation" OR "barriers") resulted in the Boolean search string. Following the thematic analysis, it was carried out by using the coding method in six-phase inductive of Braun and Clarke. To be sure of coding reliability it was cross-checked between two reviewers. Papers have appeared from different authors of Australia (Australia), US, New Zealand, Israel, Belgium, Japan and Indonesia while study techniques employed include qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods. The analysis by themes found that socioeconomic status plays a role in one's ability to participate and swim lessons and the two main barriers are cost and the lack of availability. Also, the strategies to achieve equality that are most effective are price discounts, programmes delivered by schools, and programmes that are culturally sensitive. Research findings support the area of aquatic activity as well as equip decision-makers with concrete, equity-targeted ways. The research paper advocates longitudinal research on disadvantaged populations, an intersectional perspective, and establishing benchmarks on the measurement of accessibility.
