Abstract

An assay of biodegradation of plastic film combination of polystyrene (PS) and poli (3-hydroxy butyrate-ko-3-hydroxyvalerate) [P(3HB-ko-3HV)] has been conducted. The assay was done by using soil burial test method. The plastic film was made by blending technique of various composition of PS/P(3HB-ko-3HV) in to the mud. The remaining weight of plastic film was determined gravimentically time intervals 1,2,3,4 and 5 weeks of burial. Result showed that the P(3HB-ko-3HV) had an influence on the degradation rate of plastic film. The biodegradation rate increased with an increase in P(3HB-ko-3HV) content in the mixture. The rate was derived from linear regression equation and parameters such as biodegradation rate constant (k), t 50 % and t 95% were obtained. It was found that for combination of  PS/P(3HB-ko-3HV) 95:5 k= 1,26% b/b per week , t 50 % = 39,07 weeks and t 95 % = 74,783 week for the mixture of PS/P(3HB-ko-3HV) 90:10  k = 1,604 % b/b per week, t 50 % = 30,57 week and t 95 % = 58,62 week. For the mixture of PS/P(3HB-ko-3HV), 85:15 k = 2,663 % b/b per week, t 50 % = 17,95 week and t 95 % = 34,85 week. While those of pure PS plastic film k = 0,24 % b/b per week, t 50 % = 201,85 week and t 95 % = 354,55 week which indicated a very slow biodegradation. Analysis by SEM showed that the surface of plastic film was eroded and damaged during the burial. The amount of bacterial colony per 1 gram of mud was 2,31x107.

Abstract

Telah dilakukan formulasi pasta gigi ekstrak gambir terstandarisasi serta uji daya antimikrobanya terhadap pertumbuhan bakteri penyebab plak Streptococcus mutans. Uji pendahuluan menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak gambir terstandarisasi pada kadar 7% memiliki diameter hambat optimal terhadap pertumbuhan mikroba uji. Berdasarkan ini dibuat 3 formula pasta gigi dengan kadar ekstrak gambir terstandarisasi sebesar 7% dengan kosentrasi kalsium karbonat (abrasif) yang bervariasi, berturut-turut 37, 42 dan 47%. Semua formula diuji sifat-sifat farmasetik dan aktivitas antimikrobanya, sebagai pembanding digunakan pasta gigi “F”. Hasil evaluasi sifat farmasetika sediaan menunjukkan semua formula memenuhi persyaratan pastagigi yang baik.  Formula 3 (F3) memberikan diameter hambat paling baik (19,25 + 0,50 mm), sedangkan pembanding “F” memberikan diameter hambat (20,0 + 0,00 mm).  Terdapat perbedaan bermakna diameter hambat antar perlakuan (basis versus pasta gigi ekstrak gambir) pada taraf kepercayaan  0,05.   ABSTRACT A toothpaste containing standardized gambir extract had been formulated and an antimicrobial assay of the toothpaste against Streptococcus mutans had been done. Preliminary study showed that the concentration of gambir extract of 7 % obtained an optimal range of inhibition of S. mutans growth. Three formulas were then prepared, which contained 7 % extract and various concentrations of calcium carbonate (37, 42 and 47 % respectively). The formulas were subjected to evaluation procedures including the pharmaceutical properties and the antimicrobial activity in comparison to commercial formula “F”. Results indicated that all formulas had good pharmaceutical properties. F3 showed the best inhibition against the growth of S mutans (diameter of inhibition =  19,25 + 0,50 mm) while that of the commercial toothpaste “F” was (20,0 + 0,00 mm) , which was significantly different from that of the toothpaste  base at probability 0.05.

Antibacterial activity tests were conducted on the leaf fraction of Aka lambuang (Merremia peltata (L.)Merr.) by dilution method and microplate reader towards Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli. Abstract

Human Papillomavirus (HPV) is the most significant risk factor for the cause of cervical cancer. The purpose of this study for identification of HPV types 16, 18, 31, 33, 45 and 52 in cervical cancer patients. HPV is a row of high-risk HPV types that can cause cervical cancer. Total sample of 78 diisolat DNA derived from FFPE, cervical smears and cervical cancer fresh tissue obtained from Dr. Dr. M. Djamil, Padang and hospitals. Arifin Achmad, Pekanbaru. HPV DNA detection is done by using Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) using universal primers GP5 +/6 +. HPV types were identified by PCR with specific primers. Total sample types obtained with concentrations varying between 0.9 to 645 ng / ml with purity DNA in accordance with the specified purity for PCR amplification. The results of the study of 78 patients with cervical cancer samples, 42 samples (54%) identified HPV DNA. HPV type 18 is more dominant and followed by HPV type 16 as compared to the other types, namely the percentage of 40.4% and 28.5%. HPV type 45 (7.1%), HPV type 52 (2.3%) and HPV 31 and HPV type 33 was not detected.

Abstract

Gen E7 HPV18 merupakan salah satu onkoprotein yang selalu diekspresikan oleh HPV pada sel yang terinfeksi. Infeksi persisten oleh Human papillomavirus (HPV) beresiko tinggi adalah faktor etiologi utama untuk kanker serviks dan ekspresi Onkoprotein HPV E7 disarankan untuk menjadi penanda potensial untuk perkembangan tumor. E7 akan mempengaruhi aktivitas pRB supresor tumor serta mengikat dan mengaktifkan kompleks cyclin sehingga dapat menimbulkan kanker serviks. Dalam penelitian ini akan dilakukan identifikasi terhadap Gen E7 isolat HPV18 dari penderita kanker serviks yang berasal dari RSUP M. Jamil Padang, Sumatera Barat dan RSUD Arifin Ahmad, Pekan Baru, Riau. Proses identifikasi dilakukan dengan metode Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) menggunakan primer spesifik untuk gen E7 HPV18. Dari lima belas isolat HPV18 yang diamplifikasi dengan primer spesifik gen E7 HPV18, didapatkan sepuluh sampel positif teridentifikasi gen E7 (66,6%) sedangkan lima sampel lainnya tidak teridentifikasi. Infeksi kanker pada penderita kanker serviks yang berasal dari RSUP. M. Jamil, Padang dan RSUD. Arifin Ahmad, Pekan Baru, Riau sebagian besar disebabkan oleh gen E7 HPV18 sehingga hal ini bisa dijadikan penanda potensial untuk perkembangan tumor bagi penderita kanker serviks di Sumatera Barat dan Riau pada khususnya serta di Indonesia pada umumnya.

Abstract

Surgery has been used as part of the treatment of breast cancer, but surgery has a potential risk of infection due to the effect of normal flora on the body and air in the ward environment. The decrease of antibiotics effectiveness is caused by bacterial resistance to antibiotics. The purpose of this study was to find out the pattern of bacteria, antibiotic sensitivity patterns and patterns of antibiotic use among breast cancer patients in the surgery ward Hospital M. Djamil Padang. An observational prospective study design was performed in this study, whereby data was collected from the medical records of patients admitted to the surgery wards of Hospital Dr. M. Djamil Padang from April – September 2017. Results showed the bacterial identification in patients were Staphylococcus aureus and Klebsiella sp. while from the air were found Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis and Klebsiella sp. Based on the sensitivity pattern on surgical wounds during April-May 2017 reported amoxicillin/ clavulanic acid and meropenem were good (>80%) while on August-September 2017 was meropenem. Airborne sensitivity patterns result during April-May 2017 were not found, while on August-September 2017 gentamicin, ciprofloxacin and meropenem were good (>80%). Among 32 patients admitted during study period only 7 patients who fulfilled the inclusion criteria. The most common antibiotic used was ceftriaxone 7 (77,8%). The evaluation of the rationale use of antibiotics were 6 (66.7%) appropriate medication, 9 (100%) appropriate dosage, 7 (77.8%) appropriate time duration, 9 (100%) appropriate route, 7 (100%) appropriate patient, 4 (45,1%) appropriate indication and potentially drug interaction 1 (14,28%) as a minor potency.

Abstract

Latar Belakang. Retinopati diabetik kelainan mata tersering paling ditakuti karena menyebabkan kebutaan permanen. Kejadiannya terus meningkat seiring peningkatan prevalensi DM. Injeksi anti vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) dalam terapi DME menggeser signifikan terapi primer dari terapi laser menjadi injeksi intravitreal. Objektif. Mengetahui efektivitas pemberian injeksi intravitreal anti-VEGF terhadap tajam penglihatan pada pasien retinopati diabetik di Poliklinik Mata RSUP dr. M. Djamil Padang periode Januari 2018 – Desember 2019. Metode. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif dengan pendekatan retrospektif. Data dikumpulkan dari rekam medis pasien retinopati diabetik. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan total sampling, didapatkan 25 sampel yang memenuhi kriteria pada periode 2018-2019. Hasil. Injeksi intravitreal anti-VEGF diberikan pada pasien retinopati diabetik dengan NPDR sedang dengan DME (60%), NPDR berat dengan DME (16%), serta PDR (24%). Berdasarkan kategori ketajaman penglihatan WHO, terdapat 48% pasien mengalami perbaikan visus, 44% pasien tetap pada kategori yang sama, dan 8% pasien dengan visus memburuk. Simpulan. Pemberian injeksi intravitreal anti – VEGF efektif terhadap perubahan tajam penglihatan pada pasien retinopati diabetik. Kata kunci: retinopati diabetik, injeksi intravitreal anti-VEGF.

Abstract

Corona virus atau COVID-19 merupakan infeksi virus yang ditemukan pada akhir 2019 di kota Wuhan, China. Penyebaran yang masif membuat sekitar lebih dari 900 ribu masyarakat Indonesia telah terjangkit infeksi COVID-19. Meskipun demikian, terdapat beberapa cara yang bisa dilakukan untuk mengurangi risiko dan mencegah penularan, salah satunya dengan penerapan Perilaku Hidup Bersih dan Sehat (PHBS), penggunaan hand sanitizer dan masker. Pengabdian masyarakat dilaksanakan di Panti Asuhan Muhammadiyah Cabang Pauh IX, Padang, Sumatera Barat. Panti asuhan merupakan salah satu tempat yang rentan dalam penularan COVID-19. Hal ini dikarenakan panti asuhan tersebut merupakan tempat hidup dan berkumpulnya anak - anak dalam jumlah yang besar. Maka dari itu, Program Studi Farmasi Universitas Dharma Andalas mengadakan pengabdian masyarakat dengan memberikan hand sanitizer dan masker sebagai upaya penerapan perilaku hidup bersih dan sehat, serta upaya memutus mata rantai COVID-19.
