Abstract

The STEM approach is a learning strategy to train students' creative thinking skills. This approach encourages students to conduct the engineering process by making prototypes or products to solve problems. Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) needs to be integrated into STEM learning to train students' thinking and questioning skills. This study aims to determine the improvement of ESD attitudes and creative thinking skills by using the ESD-integrated STEM approach. This study used a one-group pretest-posttest design. The research instruments used were a creative thinking skills test with creative thinking indicators and an ESD attitude questionnaire. The N-Gain test analysis obtained a result of 0.81 with a high category. The results showed that students' creative thinking skills improved significantly, and students' ESD attitudes improved very well through the STEM approach with ESD content in high school students. This research shows that the STEM approach with ESD content can be used as an alternative learning method to improve students' creative thinking skills and can contribute to the development of science by enriching the understanding of the STEM approach with ESD content, presenting a new perspective in education that focuses on sustainability and creativity.

Abstract

This research aims to develop an instrument for assessing dynamical modelling skills, especially in the Computational Physics course. The instrument was developed using a 4D model (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate). The proposed indicators consist of basic programming capabilities, visualization tools, modeling of physical phenomena, and execution. Each indicator is reduced to more detailed statement items. There are five experts who assess the relevance of items using Likert scale format indicators. The expert validation results were analyzed using the V-Aiken equation and a score of 0.88 was obtained so that the instrument developed was said to be valid and could be used to measure dynamic modeling capabilities.

Abstract

This research aims to find out how the level of science motivation of students in the physics learning of class X high school in Semarang City using Science Motivation Questionnaire (SMQ) II. The data analysis method used in this study is quantitative descriptive analysis. The sample in this study was 357 students of class X in 15 of the 75 high schools in Semarang city with stratified random sampling technique. Online data collection techniques use questionnaires on google form and offline using questionnaires on paper. The results showed that the level of science motivation of students at class X high school Semarang city falls into the high category. In total, each component of science motivation has an insignificant score difference so that students' science motivation is almost evenly distributed in each component. The value motivation component had the highest score with 21,09% while intrinsic motivation scored the most with 19%. The self-efficacy component scored 19,94%, self-determination 19,96%, and career motivation 20,08%. The score obtained by each component is not much different between the components of science motivation. Motivation is included in the high category is one of the causes of the increase in the value of national exam high school at Semarang City in previous years.Keywords: science, science motivation, SMQ II

Abstract

21st Century Learning is learning that demands the development of more interesting learning media and utilizing technology. But in fact, the use of technology in the learning process is still not utilized optimally. For this reason, this research was motivated by the lack of use of technology in learning media used in the classroom. The purpose of this study is to develop learning media in the form of E-LKPD based on Problem Based Learning on learning that can be used to improve students' decision-making abilities. The development model used is the ADDIE development model. The research instruments used are expert validation sheets to measure the feasibility of E-LKPD and pretest postest questions to measure students' decision-making abilities. The results of E-LKPD eligibility validation by material experts and media experts obtained percentages of 96.875% and 92.30%. The results of the learners' pretest postest were tested with the T test and obtained a significance of 0.000. Based on the results of the overall research, E-LKPD is feasible to be used as a learning medium to improve the decision-making ability of students.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the level of students' skills in the case of renewable energy physical material problems in solar power plants. This research method is quantitative. The research subjects consisted of 36 class X SMA N 1 Mranggen students. Data collection techniques include tests, observation, and documentation. The research instruments used were test and observation instruments. Based on the results of the research that has been conducted, it shows that the decision-making skills of students in the high category are 10 (27.8%). A total of 21 students (58.3%) still have medium ability, and 5 students (13.9%) have low ability.

Abstract

Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pengembangan media pembelajaran berupa kincir angin tenaga surya berbasis STEM materi sains sekolah dasar untuk mendukung Kurikulum 2013. Penelitian ini sebagai solusi dari permasalahan pendidik mengenai pembelajaran menggunakan media pada Kurikulum 2013 dalam menghadapi tuntutan pendidikan abad 21. Diharapkan peserta didik memiliki pengetahuan dan keterampilan STEM secara terpadu yang dapat diterapkan mulai dari tingkat Sekolah Dasar (SD) sampai dengan Sekolah Menengah Atas (SMA). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: 1) mendeskripsikan dasar kebutuhan pembelajaran menggunakan alat peraga berbasis STEM; 2) mengembangkan rancangan alat peraga sederhana berbasis STEM; 3) mendeskripsikan alat peraga sederhana bebasis STEM. Metode Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan data sekunder yaitu dengan menelusuri jurnal elektronik dan studi dokumentasi di perpustakaan. Dari hasil yang didapat beberapa jurnal dan review karya ilmiah skripsi yang relevan menunjukkan bahwa media pembelajaran energi alternatif berbasis kincir angin bertenaga surya dengan pendekatan STEM bisa membantu meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa.

Abstract

A coupled spring-pendulum system in a conservative field was studied where the equation of motion of the system using Lagrangian and Hamiltonian equation were obtained. The equation of motion represented by a second-order differential equation from the three generalized coordinate were used. The potential energy equal to zero when the system is in its equilibrium position. The generalized coordinate that being used were the angle of the first pendulum θ_1, the angle of the second pendulum θ_2, and the increase in the length of the spring x. The resulting equation of motion can be used to determine the dynamics behavior of the system at any time. Students' understanding is expected to be more complete by providing a procedure to derive the Lagrangian equation of motion.

Abstract

Margin tissue detection during intraoperative laparoscopic liver resection (LLR) is required to prevent tumor recurrence and reduce the likelihood of further surgery. This study proposes an electrical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) method for margin tissue detection in LLR to determine the boundary interface of normal and cancerous tissue. The proposed method of this study has three objectives: (1) designing the electrode array configuration to collect multiple EIS impedance measurements, (2) implementing the Feedforward Neural Network (FNN) to classify the orientation of margin tissue relative to the electrode array by using time-difference impedance indexes, and (4) governing the inflection point method based on impedance indexes to detect the margin tissue location. The proposed method is evaluated by a 3D numerical simulation of liver tissue composed of cancerous lumps with Iac = 1 mA alternating injection current  at frequencies: lf = 1 kHz and hf = 100 kHz. The electrode array is composed of 16 electrode pairs each for injection current and voltage measurements. The variation of margin tissue orientation relative to the electrode array direction was considered to occur in unidirectional, perpendicular, and diagonal direction with noise variations (Signal-to-Noise-Ratio: 50 to 90 dB). The FNN trained on 2,400 data points achieves True Positive Rate (TPR) value as 90.2%, 99.4%, and 96.6% for diagonal, perpendicular, and unidirectional respectively in margin tissue orientation classification, while the inflection point method detects margin tissue location with 75% location at the unidirectional orientation (y-axis).

Abstract

Paperless movement is a conservation effort. This refers to transitioning from conventional paper-based processes to replacing them with digital alternatives. The paperless movement has been globally implemented in various sectors, ranging from the corporate world to the educational sector. This movement is still little applied as a student's monumental work. This research aims to develop a book template using LaTeX for submitting assignments in the Computational Physics course. This template is designed to support the paperless movement as a conservation effort. We designed and developed a platform based on available LaTeX templates and then adapted it to the needs of computational physics courses. Instructions for using this template were also created and disseminated in learning classes. Next, we apply this template as a medium for collecting assignments and don't forget to ask students for responses regarding the use of this template. The outcome of the research is a book template that has already been used in the class. The students were very enthusiastic about learning the LaTeX program and they have been using it for document writing, especially related to mathematical equations. We hope that the development of this book template that we have carried out can become one of the conservation efforts in learning classes.

Abstract

Pendulum ganda merupakan sistem dinamika nonlinier yang menarik dalam fisika dan matematika karena perilakunya  kompleks dan peka terhadap kondisi awal. Tujuan utama dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menyelesaikan secara analitis persamaan gerak sistem pendulum ganda. Pada penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan numerik untuk mempelajari kinematika bandul ganda dengan menggunakan metode Runge-Kutta orde keempat. Metode ini dipilih karena menawarkan keseimbangan yang baik antara akurasi dan efisiensi komputasi. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa pendekatan numerik memungkinkan kita untuk memvisualisasikan karakteristik perilaku kacau sistem pendulum ganda, mengungkapkan pola dinamis yang tidak dapat dijelaskan dengan pendekatan analitis tradisional. Studi ini memberikan wawasan baru mengenai aplikasi numerik untuk pemodelan fenomena fisik yang kompleks
