Abstract

Food safety and the phenomenon of antimicrobial resistance have caused world problems since the beginning of 2019, while the abuse and use of antibiotic problems in fresh animal origin products (PSAH) are still common. The purpose of this training activity is to provide direct competency strengthening for farmers who are closely related to the use of antibiotics where PSAH obtained will be directly related to human health. A total of 50 dairy farmers were conducted training using the method of learning by doing and doing by learning using 3 stages of activities, namely (1) strengthening competencies face to face, (2) continued training in counting downtime of veterinary medicines using props, ending the application of tetracycline residue examination at PSAH and examples of milk residues. The results of the training show that there is mastery of training materials by the average farmer farmers controlled by 85%.AbstrakKeamanan pangan dan fenomena antimicroba resistance menjadikan persoalan dunia sejak awal tahun 2019, sementara penyalahgunaan dan penggunasalahan antibiotika pada produk segar asal hewan (PSAH) masih sering terjadi.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to determined the prevalence and infection disease degree of worm gastrointestinal on duck in two different geographical territories. The duck feces examination samples were using natif method, sedimentation, and floatation. The result of this examination of lowlands showed that 20% (12/60) ducks checked that infected by two worm species of nematoda, wich ia Ascaridia galli (11,7%), Heterakis sp. (8,3%), with the range of infection degree classified as low infection (0-500 EPG), while the examination results of highlands showed that 44% (33/75) ducks checked infected by two worm species of nematoda, which is Ascaridia galli (17,3%), Heterakis sp. (10,7%) and one species of trematoda, which is Echinostoma sp. (6,7%), with the range infection degree classified low infection (0-500 EPG). it can get both single or mix infection. The analysis result has shown that there was differences between lowlands and highlands on the prevalence and infection disease degree of worm gastrointestinal on duck, was highly significant (p<0,05).

Abstract

Goats are small ruminants that are reared by the rural community for financial income and nutrition. This study was aimed to determine the effect of vitamin C addition in tris–egg yolk extender on the lifespan of Sapera goat spermatozoa stored in 5o C. Semen was collected from 1.5 years old Sapera male goat. The ejaculates were diluted in Tris-egg yolk (T-EY) extender added with 0, 0.2, 0.3, and 0.4 g vitamin C/mL extender for T0, T1, T2, and T3 groups, respectively. The spermatozoa motility, viability, and morphological abnormality were assessed along with storage at 5° C. The result showed that spermatozoa motility was the highest (p <0.05) in T1 compared to other groups and qualified for AI use for up to 72 hours. In 24 hours storage, the spermatozoa viability was not significantly different (p >0.05) among the groups. The spermatozoa viability in the T1 group was the highest (p <0.05) among the groups along 48-96 hours of storage. The spermatozoa morphological abnormalities of the T1 group was the lowest (p <0.05) compared to other treatment groups in the range of 24-72 hour storage. In the control group (T0), the less than 5% spermatozoa morphological abnormalities (qualified for artificial insemination) were only in the 24 hours storage, while those of the T1 group were up to 72 hours. It could be concluded that the addition of 0.2 g vitamin C/100 mL T-EY extender maintained the quality of Sapera goat semen for 72 hours at 5°C.

Abstract

The aim of this research was to know whether pineapple peel juice can be used as an ovicidal of in vitro A galli. This study used eggs of A. galli worms obtained by collecting adult A. galli worms from the small intestines of fresh local chickens purchased from traditional markets in Surabaya. The research design used was a completely randomized design (CRD) with four treatments , the concentration of pineapple peel juice was 0% (Control), 5%, 10%, and 20%. Each treatment consisted of six replications, with observations on days 5, 10, 15 and 20. Developed eggs were identified with the presence of larvae within egg and the movement of larvae. The data obtained will be analyzed with the ANOVA Statistical Test with the SPSS device and then followed by the Duncan test. The results of statistical analysis showed that pineapple peel juice had a significant effect on the development of A. galli worm eggs In Vitro. The number of damaged A.galli eggs increased as they were given higher pineapple juice concentration. This proves that pineapple peel juice has higher anthelmintic effect with increasing concentration given. Pineapple peel juice 20% is the best juice concentration.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the motility and viability of kampung rooster (Gallus gallus domesticus) spermatozoa in 0.9% Sodium chloride (NaCl) solution as an extender with the addition of egg yolk at different concentrations at cool temperature (5°C). This study was performed using two 1.5 years old healthy local roosters. Semen was collected through massage in the morning. The pooled semen sample was divided into four treatment groups. In the T0 group the semen was diluted in 0.9% NaCl, while in the T1, T2 and T3 groups the semen was diluted in 0.9% NaCl added with 5, 10 and 15% egg yolk. The results showed that the motility and viability of spermatozoa decreased when stored at cool temperatures for ten hours (p <0.05). Semen of roosters stored at 5°C in saline solution without the addition of egg yolks showed the lowest motility and viability of spermatozoa (p <0.05). The addition of egg yolk into the saline extender increased the motility and viability of spermatozoa. Concentration of 15% egg yolk in saline solution resulted in the highest spermatozoa motility and viability when stored for up to 8 hours (p <0.05). However, motility and viability of spermatozoa at 10 hours of storage were not significantly different (p >0.05) with the addition of 10% and 15% egg yolks. Therefore, it could be concluded that the addition of 15% egg yolk into a saline solution as an extender could maintain the motility and viability of kampung rooster spermatozoa when stored at 5°C for 10 hours.
